Dakimakura Review – Tony Taka Girls from Puella (NSFW)

Tony Taka Dakimakura from Puella

Today’s dakimakura cover features the artwork of Tony Taka, an illustrator who needs no introduction. A number of pillowcases have been produced that feature his work; in fact, the very first dakimakura cover review posted here was one of his, from Comiket 75. His doujin work often focuses on well-known characters – he’s published work based on Clannad, Stellvia, and Working!!, among other series – but this one includes a couple of girls who, as far as I know, are original characters. Also, I don’t know if either girl has a name, as the doujinshi they come from – titled Puella – features only a few pages of text. Incidentally, the product description of Puella states that its title simply comes from the Latin word for “girl”; it has no relation at all to the well-known anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Dakimakura Review – Nozomi Yuuki from Slave Bride (NSFW)

Nozomi Yuuki Dakimakura Header

A recent failed attempt at building a set and an ill-timed touch of the flu means that we’ll be looking at another pillowcase instead of a figure. This one is from the same circle and features a similar theme as Satsuki, but those who prefer anime characters to look a little more mature will probably appreciate this one more than the other.

Photography Exercise – vmf50 Dolls (NSFW)

vmf50 Simone in a red dress with a guitar

This site is mainly about pictures of figures, and it’s also about pictures of pillowcases. However, it’s also about pictures of dolls and it’s been too long since I’ve posted anything about my doll collection. That absence is not for lack of new material – on the contrary, I’ve steadily acquired more doll things, and today is the day I choose to share them. It’s also the start of what will hopefully be a continuous – though probably occasional – series of posts in which I take pictures centered on a theme, with the idea that the post will be more about photography rather than about an individual doll or figure. This inaugural post is somewhat nebulous in range but future posts will be more narrowly confined, and I’ve got a bunch of ideas planned out.

While I’m being introspective … you know, this site is also supposed to be about eroge reviews but I’ve only ever posted one, and I don’t know if I’ll do any more. Most of the eroge I play are visual novels and it’s pretty tough to write anything meaningful about a game that you just click through all the way to the conclusion. But anyway, on to the dollie stuff.

Imari Kurumi from Bible Black (NSFW)

Imari Kurumi from Bible Black Figure Review

Figure makers used to regularly look towards eroge and ero anime, but these days, that appears to be a diminishing trend. Fortunately, Daiki Kougyou is here to remind us that hardcore hentai properties deserve figures, too.

Cat and Chair from Planet of the Cats (NSFW)

Cat and Chair from Planet of the Cats Figure Review

Oh the indignity; not only is this character chained to a chair, she isn’t even granted the courtesy of a proper name. And her moniker gets merely equal billing with the furniture that she’s sitting on.

Dakimakura Review – Android C from Instant Brain (NSFW)

It’s pillowcase show-and-tell time, and in a first for this site, today’s pillowcase features a subject that isn’t human. Rather, Android C is – obviously – an android, one of the main characters from the Xbox 360 visual novel Instant Brain, which I’m sure almost nobody has heard of.

Dakimakura Review – Lucrezia from the Art of Carnelian (NSFW)

Lucrezia from Carnelian Dakimakura Review

Time for more pillowcase show-and-tell. This one comes from Carnelian, surely one of the most famous illustrators in the anime world. She’s a veteran artist, having been around as long as I’ve been on the internet, which goes back to the mid-90s, but although she’s quite well-known, she’s never had the sort of commercial stature of someone like Tony Taka or even newer artists like redjuice or Huke. She’s contributed character designs to just a couple of mainstream anime – Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito probably being the most prominent – though H-anime fans will also remember her work in Moonlight Lady. Instead, her work is much more visible in the doujin community, where she is very active. In particular, there are a number of dakimakura covers featuring her art; this particular one was released last summer during Comiket 80 and depicts an original character named Lucrezia.

Dakimakura Review – Hinata Harigaya from the Art of Nakaba ReiMei (NSFW)

Hinata Harigaya Dakimakura

You know what they say about the best-laid schemes of mice and men. I had hoped to have had Saber Alter’s backdrop ready by now but other events – including a prolonged period of exultation after watching the Lakers get crushed and ignobly ejected from the playoffs – have dictated otherwise, so let’s take a look at a pillowcase instead. If anybody wants to know my thoughts about Saber Alter, I think she’s one spiffy figure.
