Mangagamer released the English-language – and uncensored – version of Purple Software’s Hapymaher last week and being that this figure of Yayoi was released ten months ago, now seems as good a time as any to take a look at it. Another justification for doing this review is that Native recently released their own take on a heroine from another Purple Software game and though I skipped over that figure, it’s interesting to compare how these two characters turned out. And well, the quirky characteristics of this figure are reason enough to do this review now. I’d imagine we might not see another figure like this again.

Archeyle isn’t the first, nor the second or third, Vertex figure I’ve purchased but somehow it’s the first one to be reviewed here. Oddly, it’s also one of two half-naked blonde elf girl figures to be released at the end of July. You really can’t go wrong with happy, thong-wearing blonde elf archer girls … can you?

We have for our examination today the latest and greatest from those inscrutable minds at Rocket Boy and Native. Unfortunately this lady has no name, being that she is simply given the title OSHITSUKE; doubtless lowbrow observers will snicker at the phonology but true collectors are certainly possessed of more refined sensibilities. Her sobriquet is perhaps more properly rendered as Oshitsuke Musume, which means something like Pressing Girl, which of course is basically what she is doing, at least in one of her poses. We will just call her Oshitsuke today, which doesn’t really make much sense but it’s not our fault that Rocket Boy did not give her the dignity of a name.

Happy New Year’s Eve, everybody. Normally the year-end Five Favorite Figures post would go here, but I spent yesterday putting up some new shelving and did not have the opportunity to photograph figures. The activity was well worth it, however, being that one of the most intransigent deterrents to more frequent reviews is the obdurate reality that I have no place to put the figures once I take them out of their boxes. Having more space available should simplify things and that’s all for the good. Meanwhile, we’ll take a quick look at this dakimakura cover. I don’t really review pillowcases much now, partly because I don’t buy as many as I used to and partly because they’re not particularly interesting to photograph or talk about. That said, they’ve generally been some of the more popular posts on this site and as this character – Olga Discordia of the H-game and hentai anime Kuroinu – is quite the fan favorite in her own right, we’ll go ahead and talk a little bit about this pillowcase and Kuroinu itself.

Ero figures are all the rage these days, and Native is amongst the best at producing them. They are apparently not the best at naming them, however, and so this girl is simply known as “Slingshot Babe.” This generic moniker is perhaps not nearly as off-putting as Compact Hog, but it’s still fairly impersonal.

We’ll continue our exploration of hentai figures with this one, the debut product from the company Rocket Boy. Some depictions of vampires, demonesses, and succubi – such as Darkstalkers’s Morrigan and Viper GTS’s Carrera – present them as feminine, full-figured seductresses. This is obviously not one of those renderings.

The conventional wisdom would have it that Japanese anime and tentacles go together like politics and corruption. As is often the case, the veracity of this stereotype is overstated; these days, even in adult-oriented media, there aren’t really that many tentacle-centric anime series and games. This is also true regarding figures; despite the name of this site, I don’t think I’ve actually ever reviewed a figure that incorporated tentacles as a central feature of its design, and that makes this post a watershed moment in the seven-year history of this site.

Back in the day, getting a Native figure was a rare and exciting moment. The thrill has been lessened somewhat by the proliferation of excellent sexually explicit figures – particularly those from SkyTube – but nonetheless, Native is still amongst the best at what they do and opening up one of their figures is still a happy thing – and this site, of course, is all about happy things. This particular figure, of the mononymous Momoi, espouses a medical theme, a first for Native, I believe; that’s a bit odd to observe, as nurses are as much a part of the hentai repertoire as tentacles, maids, and catgirls, all of which have had representatives in the Native catalog for years.

There have been a lot of Tony Taka figures release this year: Shining series Tony Taka figures, cute Tony Taka figures, but in my opinion, the best Tony Taka figures are the pornographic Tony Taka figures. That’s exactly what we’ve got here; this is DRAGON Toys’s Maya Kamiwazumi, the cold, purple-haired heroine of Fault!! Strangely, none of the figure manufacturers seem all that enthusiastic about making a figure of Mio Sugiyama, the series’ spirited, spunky little sister character. Even hobby companies can surprise us from time to time.
