The Literary Type from the Art of Akemi Mikoto (NSFW)

The Literary Type figure

It’s been 457 days since the last time I reviewed a hentai figure. That changes now, starting with this figure of a girl called, strangely enough, The Literary Type.

The Literary Type figure

I believe this is the first figure in my collection that is based on Akemi Mikoto’s artwork, though this isn’t the first time we’ve featured her illustrations here; we’ve previously looked at dakimakura covers of her characters Yukino Ashikawa and Misaki Haruhino. Unlike those characters, the person represented by this figure does not get the courtesy of a name, so I’m going to refer to her as Ms. Type in lieu of anything more sensible.

The Literary Type figure

The Literary Type is sculpted in 1/7 scale and measures about 25 centimeters in height, not counting the base, which is itself about a centimeter tall. She comes with an impressive bevy of accessories, most of which I haven’t included in these photos, but to wit they comprise spectacles, a book, and an additional bra and panty set.

The Literary Type figure

Native’s mission statement is to manufacture high-quality lewd figures, but this figure does give the option of displaying Ms. Type in a relatively non-explicit manner. Ms. Type can be exhibited wearing blue underwear, which to Native’s credit doesn’t look particularly bulky, unlike some castoff clothing options. They are also thankfully easy to remove and re-install because they don’t actually feature any clasps; the bra simply slides onto her breasts and her panty doesn’t actually have a waistband, so it slips between her legs and over her hips. Her clothing does a good job of concealing the incomplete nature of her undergarments.

The Literary Type figure

But of course, I certainly didn’t buy this figure to display her in a puritanical manner and I’d imagine most people who bought her didn’t either. Removing her clothing is a straightforward process, made even easier by the inclusion of a handy instruction sheet.

The Literary Type figure

With her clothing removed, her pose becomes particularly ostentatious. Certainly the clear view of her legs and backside is a major factor in this figure’s appeal.

The Literary Type figure

I know people are going to be curious how explicit this figure is, so here’s the answer.

The Literary Type figure

After unpacking the figure, I totally overlooked the book that she’s meant to be holding in her right hand but here is what it looks like. It’s a loose part so I put it back in the box since I’m sure I’d lose it at some point.

The Literary Type figure

The design of Ms. Type’s face should be familiar to fans of Akemi Mikoto’s work. Usually the eyes are one of the most obvious indicators of a particular artist’s style but in this case, I think Ms. Type’s mouth is actually the biggest giveaway; it has the narrow width and deep curve emblematic of the artist.

The Literary Type figure

One aspect I particularly like about this figure is Ms. Type’s body build; she looks like a relatively normal young adult woman. In particular I appreciate that her backside has some noticeable definition to it, which is not something that is always common with respect to anime figures.

The Literary Type figure

I think her hair is also very pretty, tied back in a loose braid while some stray tresses drape off to its side.

The Literary Type figure

And again, the lewdness factor is quite high.

The Literary Type figure

I own a bunch of Native figures but I feel like this is one of the best they’ve made. The overall style of the figure is very appealing, particularly in the shape of Ms. Type’s body. The sexiness factor is obviously very high, which isn’t always the case with some figures distributed or even manufactured by Native. Her pose leaves next to nothing to the imagination and is all the more attractive for that. The Literary Type is one of my favorite R-18 figures in my collection.

Oh wow! Welcome back! Sure feels like 84 years XD But I assume that, at last, you’ve gotten quite a few Native figures that had been trapped in their warehouses due to the pandemic, so I expect some more juicy figure reviews from you during the next couple months.

Thanks for the beautiful photos! This turned out to be a fantastic figure. I regret I didn’t preorder. Finding her now for a decent price will be rather hard >_< Oh well… Looking at Misaki's daki you linked above, it's virtually the same backside. Funny how certain elements of an artist's works seem to be instantly recognizable. Even more so as the figure's source picture doesn't even show her from that angle.

I'd love to have seen some pictures from you with her wearing her skirt, which also seems to have turned out really nice. But as you say, the less obstructions to one's view, the better. I simply love how her right leg looks in your photo #27. If I had her, this would be my favourite viewing angle.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s been a long time since I’ve had an R-18 figure review here. I still have a ton of SkyTube figures that I haven’t even looked at yet since they’re still in their shipping boxes, along with all the Native figures that I’ve finally received. I did photograph Dame Valerie and M yesterday so their reviews should be going up soon, too.

This is a really great figure for sure; I wonder how much she will cost in the aftermarket, I’ve noticed that sometimes prices aren’t as predictable as I thought they’d be. I was poking around Mandarake for BINDing’s Celia Cumani Aintree and she’s pretty expensive.

I was a little afraid to take a photo of her wearing the skirt because of the possibility of paint transfer. I didn’t notice any though and maybe I ought to not worry about it.

Her body is perfectly balanced, but I don’t like right hand pose, looks like she need to hold something. 8/10.

    • Tier says:

She has a book that she can hold; you can see it picture #8. That’s the only picture I took of her holding it because I completely overlooked it while unpacking the figure and didn’t notice it till I was almost done taking photos.

457 Days! I knew it was a while, but I wouldn’t have guessed that long!

Great review, thank you for the great photos and write up as always.

    • Tier says:

Thanks! Yeah, I was a little amazed that it’s been that long myself, especially since I’ve been buying a lot of R-18 figures over the last year and a half.

Welcome back, and just in time for November 😉 I might suggest trying some of the SkyTube “love toys” in her holding hand. I believe Native also had an accessory pack come to think of it.

    • Tier says:

Thanks 😀 Yeah, I do think those Native accessory toys would be fun to use for photos … I haven’t bought them yet, mainly because I have a feeling the price of shipping to the US would be prohibitive. Though actually, now that I think about it, I think I already have a fairly sizeable collection of scale-size toys of an adult nature, from various figures; in fact, I’m not actually sure which toys came with which figure.

Hello im new to collecting art sculpted work. I see some item from E2046 i like to get but i dont have the means to put together and paint. do you know someone in the US that offers assembly and paint serves for figurines?

    • Tier says:

Hi, I do not … I feel like garage kit assembly and painting is a lot less common of a hobby these days than it used to be, unfortunately.
