Dakimakura Review – Nanoha Takamachi from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (NSFW)

Cyclone Nanoha Takamachi Dakimakura Review

If you collect anime stuff, it’s hard to avoid getting stuff from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Unless you really dislike that franchise, that is; I know a couple of people who fall into that category and I can certainly understand why they feel that way, since I tried to watch the show and found it a bit difficult to get through. Nonetheless, I do like the character designs a lot, particularly Fate’s, and while my collection of Fate figures isn’t particularly large, I seem to have a lot of them given that I don’t have a strong affinity for the show. Curiously, for a long time I didn’t have anything featuring the lead character, apart from a couple of doujinshi. I’ve ordered her actsta figure but while I wait for that, let’s take a look at another thing that I’ve recently acquired that features her likeness, though perhaps not in a way familiar to fans of the show.

Cyclone Nanoha Takamachi Dakimakura Review

This dakimakura cover is titled the “Ace of Aces” version and comes from an illustration done by Cyclone, a well-known doujin circle notable for their numerous numerically-titled Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha books. It depicts Nanoha Takamachi as she appeared in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, so she is presumably nineteen years old here. The pillowcase is produced by Hold-on Pillow – usually referenced as H・O・P – and is 160 centimeters long and 50 centimeters wide. It’s made of two-way tricot and like most dakimakura covers, has a zipper at the bottom to hold in a dakimakura.

And here’s the full length view of the pillowcase, showing the instructor off in all her glory. Very cool.

Here she is close up. Hmm, she seems to be crying here.

And here’s another close up. The good captain is leaking fluids here, too. She might want to take off her jacket since the liquids are seeping out onto it. I vaguely remember that we got a pantyshot of Nanoha in the first or second episode and she was wearing white underpants then. She’s obviously switched over to a more feminine pink color here.

Underpants detail. One supposes that Nanoha sticks to a plain, no-frills underwear style for her work duties.

Here’s the full length of the reverse side. She’s taken off the bottom part of her jacket here, which is a good call since it was just getting wet.

You know, it’s really rude for whoever who did this to have torn up one of her socks. I mean, what can you do with one intact sock and one torn-up sock? Nothing. Unless you want to dress like Flo-Jo or something.

Here’s a close-up of Nanoha’s face, where she kinda seems to be going, “OMG.”

Cyclone Nanoha Takamachi Dakimakura Review

And here’s a somewhat gratuitous picture of Nanoha’s ass, where she still seems to be going “OMG,” though with a different meaning, judging by how she’s spreading herself and leaking yet more fluids.

Another pantyshot.

And here’s her foot. I’m no artist but feet look very difficult to draw, particularly the bottom side, and Nanoha’s feet are particularly well-rendered in this picture.

Cyclone Nanoha Takamachi Dakimakura Review

Here’s a few of the Cyclone doujinshi I own – 567 is a fairly old one featuring Fate getting boinked by the Numbers. And getting turned into a Number, even. It’s a great book and it’s all in color. F850 is the book on the upper right, it came out at Comiket 78. The other books – Situation Note 79 and F850 X2.01 were sold by Cyclone at the recent Comiket 79 event, as was the little pencil board thing at the bottom. I’ve got a few other of their books – 667, 667 Kai, 1001, NNR, T-01, and T-02, as I’ve mentioned in my doujinshi posts.

サイクロン 高町なのは抱き枕カバー

Here’s the dakimakura cover on a pillow body. I’m still using my too-short pillow body from Bed, Bath & Beyond which isn’t quite large enough to fill the pillowcase up so there’s about a foot of slack at the bottom.

Nanoha’s dakimakura cover feels a bit thinner than the other ones I’ve gotten – without a pillow in the body, you can see some of the graphics on the other side of the pillowcase through the facing side. It still feels like good-quality fabric, though.

Random trivia note: Nanoha’s seiyuu is Yukari Tamura, and one of her most recent roles was providing the voice of Eva R in Seikon no Qwaser, the greatest anime of all time. She’s the blue one on the left, without the nipple piercing. Ignore the grammatical mistake in the subtitling, too. Eva R is an unabashed masochist who enthusiastically offers to consume the urine of one of the show’s characters. I found that to be very amusing for some reason and it’s kinda hard for me to look at Nanoha now without juxtaposing the little masochist with her.

And here’s the reverse side as it appears with a pillow stuffed in it.

Anyway, this is a very cool dakimakura cover of the always-popular Nanoha, and I like it a lot. The artwork looks great, Nanoha looks either very uncomfortable or very eager, it’s a great pillowcase overall. I’m hoping Cyclone does one of Fate Testarossa as well, though H・O・P has one for sale and it looks quite nice, perhaps nice enough for me to put in an order. I’ll be thinking about it.

I was wondering when we’d see this one lol.

    • Tier says:

I was saving this for a lazy week, since dakimakura cover reviews are quick, easy, and I don’t have to clear off and set up my shooting space. I like doing pillowcase reviews, especially since I don’t have any great ideas for the next figure I’m thinking about reviewing.

  2. Shashin says:

I’m liking it, though I have to say I still know nothing about either character from the series. I think I have a Fate dakimakura, but I don’t think I have a Nanoha one; if I’m never able to pick up あんこ工房’s most recent offering, I don’t think this would be a bad choice. I particularly like her back side. And her faces make me giggle a bit.

That Seikon no Qwaser screenshot really makes me want to continue the series. I don’t know why I stopped, but it’s a good anime to watch a few episodes at a time, and it has been awhile.

    • Tier says:

I have only a very superficial understanding of either character as well, even though I’ve written like what, three Fate figure reviews? And I guess I’ve got another one on the way in a few months, if you count GSC’s actsta line as a figure. I see this pillowcase up on HOP’s webpage; I’m not sure what that means, but maybe it’s getting a re-release.

I guess I’m up to the obligatory hot springs episode, which is, hmm … episode 12 or 13 I guess. I really like the show, and I’d like it a lot even without its tit-centric nature. I appreciate a show where the male lead isn’t an invertebrate gimp. Okay, Mafuyu isn’t very interesting, but Katja and Teresa make up for her. Maybe I ought to write a post on this show … I’ve seen so many bad action anime series recently (Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls – terrible … Infinite Stratos – ehh, don’t want to judge it after one episode, but it’s not looking like anything special … Freezing – ugh, so damn bad, and this show I don’t mind judging after one episode) that it’s a very welcome change. And yeah, the tits help, too.

  3. BioToxic says:

Woah this Nanoha Daki is certainly something. Usually it’s 1 side safe 1 side danger; I guess they don’t want to follow the rules. At least when you turn her over she’s no longer getting her coat wet – some devil has gone and ripped it apart!

That Fate daki you link looks nice. I prefer Fate over Nanoha, but really I can’t say I’m that interested in the Magical Girl Nanoha series.

I didn’t realise you didn’t have a fitting Daki body for your covers, unless this is a spare? I’d recommend getting a 160×50 body. When they’re stretched out to fit the pillow body they look a lot better – at least of the ones I’ve tried. I’ve got a 160×50 (nylon) and 150×50 (polyester) body that I bought from Hobby Search and find that changing between them can completely change the feel of the cover over it.

    • Tier says:

That’s one of the nice things about doujin dakimakura covers that come from circles that do nothing but porn XD I don’t even look much at the dakimakura cover sections on Hobby Search and Amiami since I prefer the raunchier stuff now.

Yeah, I think I like Fate better too. I like those quiet types with difficult pasts. And she shows more skin and especially more ass. That’s an important thing to me.

I do not have an appropriately-sized body, unfortunately. I think mine is a bit shorter than 50 centimeters. I got it from BB&B because it was really cheap – around $15. I remember Hobby Search was selling pillows but they were fairly expensive, and I don’t even want to think how much it’d cost to ship.

      • Shashin says:

I’m the same way too, especially since the print/detail is usually better in doujin covers versus mass market covers. Though I will say that I’ve started looking at them again since they’re now fairly common in 2 way tricot. A couple months ago, 2WT was available, but it was usually much more expensive; it seems that while they still offer a SK option, the 2WT is usually more reasonably priced for what you’re getting.

Moving on, but while still on the same subject, I’m thinking that if I find a cover that comes with a body (as Hobby Search/AmiAmi has every now and then) that I like, I’ll pick it up. I need another pillow, and apparently they bodies are fairly high quality. Considering dakimakura covers are already expensive, the price increase for one with a body isn’t that absurd. You may want to keep your eye out for one yourself.

I think I received my Cospa pillow with 3 dakimakura covers, and the total was about $400 after shipping. Shipping was certainly expensive, but more due to the weight of the pillow than the size of the box. They densely seal it in a bag, so it doesn’t take up much space… was probably the cost to ship 2-3 figures.

        • Tier says:

Yeah, that sounds like it’d be a decent value. The pillow body isn’t a very high priority for me though; I keep a pillowcase on my body pillow, but I don’t handle it very often. In fact, the smaller and flabbier pillow is advantageous to me because it’s easier for me to move it out of the way when I have to rearrange space to shoot pictures.

          • Shashin says:

True enough. I actually do use my dakimakura for sleeping, as the body I have is one of the best body pillows I’ve ever used. That and the 2WT material feels fairly good against the skin, if hot in the summer. 99% of the time, I don’t even notice the art on the cover I’m using at the time. It’s just all so comfortable that I’m able to fall asleep fairly quickly.

          • Tier says:

Just after I say something about not caring much for pillowcases on Hobby Search or Amiami, Amiami lists one of a character from Renai Saimin which I preordered. It’s odd that they listed it since I thought it was a C79 exclusive; I’ve seen it on YJA and thought about bidding on it, but I’m glad I can save some money and hassle by getting it directly from a retailer.

          • Shashin says:

Funny how that works. I’m the same way, though. I’ll only buy them from big retailers if they’re a character I really like, or if it’s a more erotic case. I had actually wanted that cover you’re speaking of myself, but I’ve gone on yet another buying spree I couldn’t afford. Bought another five cases last night, maxing out my high SMJ limit. Only case I regret even the slightest is あんこ工房’s Nagato. It looks like an amazing cover, but the seller didn’t list the material in the auction, so I know it’s going to be SK. Which for the price paid isn’t really worth it, but it’s from C74, so I don’t expect to see it often on YHJ.

The other covers aren’t really of note, but I finally decided to pick up ActiveMover’s K-On cover (mainly because of the novel censorship method) and ç´« 源亭’s beautiful Saber cover. And with that, I officially end my buying spree as I try to pay all this down over the next month or two. Or so I say, anyway…

  4. Chag says:

From what little I’ve seen of the cyclone Nanoha doujins, I was expecting something a little more…extreme from the cover. At least some bizarre appendages creeping upon her here and there. This is fine too, though. The artist did a great job on her skin. The “OMG” face didn’t look all that distressed to me until I noticed the eyebrows, but even then it’s kind of weird to see her eyes wide open in that sort of position. Oh well, who knows, maybe she’s drugged? That would certainly explain why the ace of aces wound up in such a compromising position.

    You really should get a proper-sized pillow, dude. Wrinkled Nanoha = saggy bum — not exactly the prettiest image ^^;

Btw, is that a giant megatokyo towel in your header image?? Also, have you watched the first Nanoha movie yet?

    • Tier says:

Bizarre appendages would be fantastic. The stuff I’ve read from them seems to be more domination/submission-centric than anything else, though, and running the product caption through an auto-translator, I kinda get the sense that was what they were going for, though the translation is really hard to interpret. “HA I’ll check from small time and where it’s a shelf. It grew to YOKUZOKOKO! They feel embarrassed, but a rise will be kept up, and pins her who doesn’t resist down!” says one. “It is to have taken small. It was good and grew up to here! I am fully prepared and will hold down her whom I do not resist while being shy!” says another. Hmm.

Yeah, I think I’m gonna re-take those pictures, maybe stuff a cushion down at the bottom to fill it out and help it stand up. And nope, that’s not a Megatokyo towel, it is a Megatokyo blanket. Of uhh, Kimiko I guess? It has been years since I read that site. It’s a really comfy blanket, though it’s in bad need of a washing.

I have yet to check out the movie though it’s on my list. I figure I ought to gain some firsthand familiarity with the show given my intentions for the actsta toys and it’ll probably be better if I do that with a two-hour movie than watching a full season of episodes.

  5. drakanity says:

I never got into this series. Probably because the first ones started quite a few years ago. Anyone know if the series are in order? Or can you just watch the latest without having watched the previous ones?

As far as all the comments about the body pillow, I have a square pillow that I bought from Ikea to put at the bottom of the Bed Bath and Beyond pillows which is a pretty nice fit.

Have you tried the ebay ones? There are a couple sellers I remember from North America that is supposedly pretty cheap.

However, if you’re looking for an actual website, here is a site that I used for one of mine:
    http://www.royalpillow.com/body-pillows.asp

I recommended it over at myfigurecollection for people in the USA a while back. Although I don’t know if the site is still around or not, but I’m assuming it is. I bought mine around 2+ years ago. I was skeptical at first since there’s like no way to contact them besides phone. It seems they still don’t have an email address. And they do take a little while to process.

Anyhow, I went and tried it and it did the job.

They have 3 different sizes. The small is the normal sized ones that you can get from BB&B or Target and whatnot. Then the medium size are for the 150×50 ones. And I’m assuming the large could be for the 160×50, but 72 inches is a bit more than 160cm, so I don’t know how well that would work. Back then, 150×50 seemed to be the norm for dakimakuras, but I don’t know why a lot switched to the 160×50 now.

Here is a pic I uploaded to show how full it is. Hope you can see it. My dakimakura is supposedly 150×50, so you can see how it fit. http://myfigurecollection.net/image/drakanity1279844925.jpeg

I bought the medium size one. It is the cluster fiber material. It sounded better in the description, so I went with that one lol. I kind of wanted to try the Durasoft one since it is cheaper and might be flatter (the cluster I bought is puffy), but I already have 3 pillows, so I don’t really have room for a 4th. Shipping was about $10-12 if I remember correctly. So it isn’t bad.

    • Shashin says:

I might have to check them out if you recommend them. Seems to fit your cover fairly well, and has a nice amount of material in it. That’s the C.C. cover with the epic ass, isn’t it? I have that one myself, but haven’t opened it yet.

    • Tier says:

I have no clue about the ordering of the series, but I think StrikerS might stand alone better than the first series and As. I vaguely recall that the series got licensed in the US so I might just wait till the DVDs come out to watch it.

Thanks for the link and the picture, that looks like it might do the job. I don’t actually handle my dakimakura all that often so its present sagginess isn’t a big problem for me, but I’ll need to buy another pillow or two in the future because I don’t like having to rotate my pillowcases on my one body all the time.

      • drakanity says:

Yea, mine just kind of sits there as well. But I’m also pretty lazy and don’t like to take them off and on. So I have 3 in pillows and 3 on the walls. If only I had more room…

If you or anyone actually buys from that place that is a different material than the cluster fiber, let me know. I’m quite interested to see the difference between them.

        • Tier says:

Will do, though reading the listings, I’d probably go with the cluster fiber too. I had a feather pillow and the stems kept poking out of the shell and through the pillowcase, which was very uncomfortable. That Hungarian down option sounds kinda attractive in a ludicrously extravagant sort of manner, though, kinda like buying a gigantic 1/4 scale hand-painted figure off of Yahoo Japan.

  6. now THAT is a “surprise! Buttsecks” face if I have ever seen one!!

Never really got into the whole dakimakura thing. It doesn’t fit with my sleeping habits and would just take space on my bed so I wouldn’t really use it for its intended purpose. Plus, the artwork for some are really dodgy. Noel Vermillion from Blazblue looks hideous in her dakimakura but then there are some which I wouldn’t mind simply hanging on my wall as a decoration. Probably not this one tho, even though I do like older nanoha (regular older Nanoha beats Fate but Shin sonic form Fate beats ALL!)! Really enjoyed the series as well, the only Magical Girl show I would ever admit to liking!

    • Tier says:

I remember thinking about trying to get Noel’s dakimakura cover for about five minutes before deciding that it didn’t look that great. That was back when dakimakura covers were still a strange and mysterious thing to me. I remember I really wanted one for a very, very long time but couldn’t afford it. Now, they’re sorta just everyday things to me. I guess I got desensitized to these things after having a pillowcase showing one girl spreading open another girl’s anus on my dakimakura for months.

I gotta watch this Nanoha movie just so I can understand the show’s plot. I have so much Nanoha porn but I’m not very familiar at all with the core plot. All I know is that there are these little girls battling each other and eventually they grow up into big girls battling each other and Fate tragically loses her thong bottom along the way.

  7. Tier says:

    >> Shashin
So you say indeed! I think I’m winding down dakimakura cover purchases for the next month or so because I just got my invoice from my doujinshi buyer. And there’s some doll clothes I want to buy. It’s a good thing several of the figures I have preordered have gotten kicked back to next month and March is looking relatively sparse as far as stuff I have reserved.

    • Shashin says:

Yeah, I’ve already went in and put another bid up; someone listed Illust Guerrilla’s first dakimakura cover, and I couldn’t help but put in a bid at the very least. I don’t have much left with Hobby Search, just a magazine or two to use up some remaining points. Good thing too, since I have about 150000 yen + deputy fees to pay off, with a bit more if I win the Illust Guerrilla cover.

      • Tier says:

Holy smokes that is quite a bit. I guess it’s a good thing for me that I’m still restricted by my deposit with respect to SMJ bidding, since I’d probably go nuts otherwise. I just dropped like $230 on some doll clothes and there’s still a few more things I want to buy. Simone will be getting some pants soon, at least for a little while.

  8. VF says:

Aren’t Nanoha girls supposed to be underaged? LOL Well, since this is from StrikerS, I guess it’s alright. XD I definitely wasn’t expecting her to be so exposed, I’ve seen other dakimakuras of more provocative characters that are more covered up.

That OMG face is actually kinda entertaining to look at – can’t help but laugh a little!

    • Tier says:

She’s 19! She is completely legal. Yeah, I love her facial expressions, they work great, particularly in the context of a dakimakura cover XD

      • I wonder, what DO you DO with all these dakimakura covers anyway? =D

        • Tier says:

Ha, wouldn’t you like to know? XD Can you even possibly imagine the sorts of twisted, unspeakable things I might do with them?

Yeah, you probably could … I just put them back in their plastic wrap and toss them in a drawer till I feel like rotating them back on to my one pillow body. Or I put them in a pile on the floor, I’ve got a bunch right next to me right now, folded and bagged up.

  9. Shashin says:

Yeah, I really need to lower my limit, because it’s exactly what I do. It also doesn’t help that I opted for an absurdly high limit and they give a rate of 120 versus the actual 80ish. And then there are fees on top of it all. Credit card limits also don’t help much in that respect; deposit may be higher when you have a Paypal deposit, but since it doesn’t actually require any money up front. >_>

    • Tier says:

I still need to switch over to credit card authorization; I’d like to get my deposit money back since it’s not doing anything otherwise, and I’ve missed out on one or two auctions that I would have liked to have bid on but were too high for my existing limit and ended too quickly for me to go with one of the other proxy services I usually use.

      • Shashin says:

It’s nice, but it certainly sucks that as soon as I pay it off I immediately have my limit available again. I’d assume you use up your deposit when you buy something with Paypal, and then have to add more. Or do you just send enough money to cover the cost, and have them keep your deposit? Either way, even though it’s only a 1:1 rate, it’s a lot easier to put a higher credit limit if you have a relatively high limit on the card, as it’s not like it’s holding up your money like Paypal. Certainly a dangerous thing if you get overeager and request a high limit. (I did so for my massive D-Stage order when I already had about $800 of my limit used up.)

        • Tier says:

They keep the deposit; I think it’s held as insurance in case you try to screw them over, similar to a security deposit on an apartment. My credit card has a limit of like $9k, which is kinda funny since it’s my first credit card and I didn’t even have one till a few months ago when my check card number got jacked (I’m wondering if that came about as a result of the Hobby Search data breach). I guess it’s a good thing I don’t use the credit card option since I’d be sorely tempted to do just that and spend way too much money.

          • Shashin says:

Ah, makes sense. That would certainly be a fun way to completely screw yourself over, even if you only set aside half the limit. I’d imagine you’d just find new stuff to add as soon as some of your limit was replaced; that’s pretty much what I’ve done.

While I can’t prove with 100% certainty that Hobby Search was the source of my breach, I’m almost positive it was. At the time, I was still fairly young in my purchases; namely Mandarake and Hobby Search. I used my credit card for other minor things, but hadn’t made any purchases recently that could have been the cause. I also used Paypal for Mandarake. So I was already fairly certain they were the cause when it happened, and then months later they came out with info on the breach that was in the same time frame my info was stolen.

          • Tier says:

Yeah, I’m sure I’d really screw up my finances. I saw this one auction for an item that I am kinda interested in, but I’m sure the bid amount is going to escalate well beyond what I am comfortable paying so it’s just as well that I can’t bid on it, since it’s already beyond my SMJ limit.

          • Shashin says:

I’m actually happy that I lost Illust Guerrilla’s first dakimakura cover, even if I’ll probably not get another chance to bid on it. My bid of 20000 was not enough to secure it, and that’s probably too high to be paying for an SK cover anyway, no matter how graphic it is. Is a bit of a shame I couldn’t get it cheaper, though, as I really did like the pose on the backside.

I offset my loss of the cover by adding the School Days Sekai cover that just released on AmiAmi today. I had wanted to add it before, but the preorder was sold out on both AmiAmi and Hobby Search, so I couldn’t resist. Even if I know that underneath the black bar on the sample images is going to be some crude form of censoring.

  10. radiant says:

Nanoha! Your face says no, but your body says YES! YES YES!

Tier, I didn’t know you were into Megatokyo. And yes, feet ARE difficult to draw. Not as difficult as hands though.

    • Tier says:

It does! I love how the graphics sorta leave some ambiguity there as to how she is feeling.

I used to follow Megatokyo, though I haven’t read it in a number of years. I liked it a lot when Largo was part of the creative process but after he left, it kinda seemed like it was treading quicksand and I lost interest. I wonder what’s going on in the strip now?

  11. Tier says:

    >> Shashin
I paid for my Chizuru Tendou pillowcase today. It was kinda weird, they sent me an e-mail saying that they might not be able to fill the order and then they shut off preorders very quickly. Now they’re open again. At any rate, I’m wondering if they’ll be able to get more limited, convention-specific stuff.

  12. Shashin says:

That is a bit strange, but I’m glad that you were able to get it. I thought about adding it to the cart myself, especially since it’s 2WT. It’s certainly a nice cover, and shouldn’t have the flaws I tend to normally find with covers purchased through big retailers (other than the explicitness factor, of course.) I also thought about adding the Keito Koume to my order, as that second side is one of the best I’ve seen in awhile, without being ‘spreading your anus’ explicit. It only coming in SK for the price is what turned me off there, but even then it’s still a bit tempting. I hope they do get more convention stuff; I’ve seen a couple items over the months, but not a really large portion of stuff.

    • Shashin says:

I can’t believe my rotten luck. I just bought あんこ工房’s Nanoha cover this morning on YHJ, when a slightly cheaper auction popped up. Was still over the 20000 mark for roika, though. I check the dakimakura blog this morning, and they’re selling it on their website for two days; with 2WT going for 16000. So, if you had wanted to pick the cover up yourself, now would definitely be the time to do it.

      • drakanity says:

That sucks. But thanks for the info.

What is this dakimakura blog that you speak of?!?

I don’t know many sites (except the common ones) since I can’t read Japanese, so it is more difficult to find things.

I wish more things got re-released through official sites. I would think dakimakuras would be really cheap to produce. Print it out on some fabric and put it in a bag. So unless there is some licensing issue that is charged per item made…

And I was reading some of the older posts a few days ago. That’s crazy that you have 80-100+ dakimakuras. That would be the price of a new car lol.

        • Shashin says:

Yeah, it does really suck. Especially since I do try to get 2WT if at all possible, and I had checked the blog right before my purchase to make sure it was only available in roika.

          http://blog.xn--er-573a1isbf1441e2hs87j.jp/

Really handy site, especially since you can search by circle in the top right. Easily the best site for finding mass amounts of sample images (if an in depth “review” can’t be found.)

          And yeah, it’s absolutely crazy.

      • Tier says:

Ahh that sucks -_- That’s kinda like when I buy a figure at full price and I see it pop up in the bargain bin at half off, except in that case I get my figure a month or two earlier than otherwise so I don’t mind too much. Or when I notice that the illustration on the pillowcase depicts a character with two right feet. Heh.

Thanks for the heads up … my discretionary funds are very limited at the moment because of the doll clothing purchasing spree I just went on but that pillowcase really is very nice. I’m going to have to examine my bank balance again.

        • Shashin says:

Yeah, it sucks a lot. And in my case, I probably won’t be getting it any sooner, and I’m getting a lesser material.

Hopefully if you decide against your bank account, you’ll be able to get an order in; from the page, it looked like they were taking orders either until the 30th (today) or the 31st. Don’t remember which.

          • Tier says:

Ah, well, that sucks, since I don’t think funds will permit. On the plus side I should be getting a bunch of cool stuff pretty soon, including my C79 doujinshi, so it is all good.

          • Shashin says:

That’s too bad. Was a shame it was kind of a limited sale, and I’m really bummed I missed it by a couple hours (beforehand) myself.

I have two special orders set to drop in February sometime, and only 4-5 orders I’m still waiting on an invoice on. Then some unpaid invoices, but I’m waiting for a new credit card statement since I know I won’t be able to pay everything off in a month’s time. So when I charge everything in February, won’t be charged interest on it until April, and hopefully I’ll have it knocked down a bit by then. Anyhow, after everything is all paid up and stored in the US, I’m requesting a big order.

Final count, since I likely won’t be adding anything else, is 23 dakimakura covers and 5 doujinshi. Should be a fun package to open. Though I’m a little worried about one item; it’s mixed in by date with a whole bunch of stuff that’s already stored in the US. Still listed as batch to us office, and has been for the last week or so. Also is a bit worrying, as it’s that dakimakura cover I linked a while back with the blonde haired adult/loli side.

I don’t follow dakimakuras so was surprised that they can show such raunchy details. Yet another reason I love your site. Opening my dirty eyes to new worlds! Count me in as wanting a review of the Quaser(sp?) amine. Saw a few eps and was debating whether to keep watching.

    • Tier says:

I am glad to help! And I’m thinking about writing such a post; I don’t write much about anime here but I’ve been watching a few different shows and I have some thoughts on them, plus not too many people talk about Qwaser much versus, say, Oreimo or K-On or whatever.

  14. Blowfish says:

Hmm so shes 19 years old in the last series?
How much time passed inbetween the series? Wasnt she like 8 in the very first one?

Sure, I dont like the Dakimakura at all because it features Nanoha but illustration wise its pretty nice.I kinda got interested in Doujin Dakimakura myself now and think about picking up one from Dakemakura.Ill prolly never beat you but atleats ill be the one with the raunchiest Dakimakura in Germany

    • Tier says:

She was nine in the first series, eleven (I think) in A’s, and nineteen in StrikerS. I think she’s like 25 in Force. It’s pretty cool that we get to see her grow up. Sort of.

Hehe, yeah I figured you wouldn’t care much for the character. You definitely should get a dakimakura cover for yourself. They’re sorta impractical things to own but getting one is like taking a step that not many collectors take.

  15. Shashin says:

We were just talking about AmiAmi getting in more C79 goods, and they just added two more items that I think you’ll be interested in. Two dakimakura covers…. with tentacles featured prominently! Both are unfortunately SK, but they both fall a little below the 10000 yen mark so I couldn’t resist them myself.

    • Tier says:

Oh wow, I really did not expect the Mouryou no Nie pillowcases to show up on a major retailer’s site. I was thinking about picking up the Chihiro one through a proxy service but I guess this will make it easier. It might have been more in-character if the Chihiro one had centipedes rather than tentacles but I guess that would not make for a very attractive hugging pillow. I wonder if there’s any chance I could get it shipped with the Eleanor Mercer figure … I’m not too familiar with how Amiami combines items for shipping.

23 dakimakura, that is quite the haul indeed. Hopefully they are just slow to update, or maybe the bad weather in some parts of the US is affecting them. I think they’re in Indiana or something so they might be getting buried in snow real soon. I got my doujinshi stuff today, I guess I’ll have to photograph that and write a post about it sometime. I dunno if I want to scan them because operating the scanner is kind of a pain in the ass compared to using a camera but then again, photographs of doujinshi look kinda crappy.

  16. Shashin says:

Wasn’t familiar with the Eroge, though I did a Google image search and liked some of the things I saw. Had to preorder both of them, if only because it’s so very rare to have tentacles on a dakimakura cover. Curious to see how the censored nether regions will play out. Hopefully they’ll have enough stock for both of us; they sent me the confirmation that I was in a queue and they may not be able to fulfill the order. I’m guessing because it’s a limited item, and it would depend on how many people are before me/how many they have, but hopefully. You should be fine if the item is set to release in February; you can either submit the order with “please combine with id #xxxxxx” and you’ll get another confirmation, or they usually do it automatically. The confirmation I got a couple of hours ago had the two cases and Catherine pushed into one order.

Yeah, I’m excited though I don’t look forward to paying off the later half (luckily most of it’s paid off, but still going to be an expensive bill.) Yeah, I wouldn’t be worried too much, but it would be strange. It has been 24 days since I won that auction, and easily 2 weeks since it was listed as shipped to USA. I have about 10 other items with less time on them that are already stored in the US, my newest being 9 days old. Can’t wait for the doujinshi photos. I tried scanning some once, but the scanner on my printer hasn’t worked in almost a year. :/ Really need to crack open the manual and see if there’s some way to troubleshoot it that I’m missing.

    • Tier says:

I haven’t played it either, but I have some familiarity with Inyouchuu (mostly tangential … I haven’t played the game but I’ve seen the anime spinoffs), which is from the same company. I read the character profiles on Getchu through an auto-translator and I thought it was pretty funny that Chihiro’s lone listed dislike was “centipedes.” After reading that, I pretty much knew what her CGs were going to be about.

I think that they should be able to fill orders; they sent the same thing with my Chizuru pillowcase and then sent another message a bit later saying that they would indeed be able to fill my order. If they can’t, it’s fine with me since I’ve got a bunch of other pillowcases on the way … heck, I’ve even got two in the review queue right now, after not having gotten any between May and December of last year. The Chizuru pillowcase is extremely nice, by the way, I’m thinking it might be replacing Nanoha on my pillow very soon.

      • Shashin says:

Heh, got to love the subtle hint at what’s to come. Strange that I didn’t get an email saying they would be able to fulfill the order. Wonder if it’s because I had bailed on a couple orders previous to it, and had yet to pay for my January order. Hopefully delaying payment for that order hasn’t cost me these two wonderful covers. Not that I really need any more dakimakura covers, but that’s not the point. I really like both of them, but even with my fondness for unique hair colors, I think I prefer the Shizuna cover. I don’t currently have a pillowcase on my pillow; been having a hard time deciding the next one to put on, since I actually use the pillow to sleep.

        • Tier says:

Hopefully it’s not … it’d suck to lose Amiami as a dakimakura cover source since it appears they’re getting good stuff now. Unexpectedly good stuff, too.

I like the Chihiro pillowcase better I think, since she’s the lead girl and I liked her CGs. That’s sort of an odd thing because centipedes freak the crap out of me in real life.

  17. Shashin says:

Yeah, it would. Would make some amount of sense though; they’ll sell me a cover if they have enough after the people who have not missed an order have been assured they’ll get theirs. Couldn’t blame them if that’s the case, but I still hope I do get them. I paid the order I had waiting since it was due today; was just trying to hold off until new credit card statements pop out, but that won’t be for a few days anyway.

I didn’t know either character and haven’t looked at the CGs yet. I will say that the only thing I dislike about the Shizuna case is the stupid face every single hentai anime seems to use these days. I mean, it’s not that bad on the case because her eyes aren’t rolled up into her head, but I do prefer Chihiro’s expression. Maybe it’s a common fear that has drawn you close to her, close enough that you can watch while she’s violated by the things you both hate… or something like that.

    • Tier says:

Haha, the ahegao face? I don’t mind it too much but it gets overused sometimes XD Especially in the CGs for some of the games that Kagami illustrates.

It could be! She seems to confront them stoically in the CGs, though I dunno how she reacts in the video game. I ought to give it a whirl sometime, maybe write a review of it if I like it. Though admittedly, my attention span is really short and playing through a whole VN using an auto-translator and then writing about it takes a great deal of effort compared to a simple dakimakura cover review. Speaking of which, I’m thinking I’ll be photographing Evening Call’s P&S pillowcase next … looking at it, the reversed foot is still kinda bothersome but the reverse side is nice, really dang nice. Maybe nice enough for me to forget about the anatomical inaccuracy.

  18. Shashin says:

Yeah, I don’t mind it every now and then, it can just be so laughingly bad. I’ve come to accept that there will always be buckets of semen in hentai, but the face makes me chuckle every time.

I think I’ll download the CG myself when I get around to it. I was browsing J-List’s front page the other day, and they had restocked an eroge that caught my eye. Liked the couple of sample CG they listed, so I googled it. Yandere Translations (#10) actually reviewed it, and after reading the review I couldn’t help but downloading it. Apparently plays out a lot like Fire Emblem with hentai. Too lazy to look up the title now, but I think it’s Himegari Dungeon Meister.

    • Shashin says:

Man, I have the terrible habit of posting prematurely. I really wish I had picked up the P&S cover myself; it’s one of those that I saw and wanted immediately. I’m also fond of their upcoming Saber cover, but I really can’t afford either right now. I placed a bid on the Oreimo Illust Guerrilla cover yesterday. Was tucked away in the Adult section with a lowish staring bid, so I couldn’t resist. Won it at a fair enough price, only about 1500 above the initial retail.

      • Tier says:

Ah yes, I remember that CG pack. Sorta. It seemed like a cool pack, with the little loli girl molesting female characters along with the lead male. Though I guess the little loli girl does grow up in some of them, from what I recall.

Yeah, I like the Saber one a lot, and the feet seem to be rendered correctly. The material feels very nice, better than the HOP Nanoha pillowcase I’m using right now. It feels thick and durable but still has stretch.

  19. slayer says:

Hi,buddy. How much is this? Probably more than 150USD? How do you buy from Japan?

    • Tier says:

Howdy. The pillowcase cost 10,500 yen but factoring in shipping and proxy costs and the crappy dollar-yen exchange rate, it cost probably like $175 or so.

Almost no stores in Japan other than Mandarake will sell dakimakura covers overseas, so other than that store, the easiest way to buy something like this is to go through a proxy service. They’re just people located in Japan who will buy stuff on your behalf, receive it, and then ship it to your address.

      • Shashin says:

Heh, it’s interesting to note that Mandarake just listed this very cover within the last few hours for 15000 yen. Might end up being a bit cheaper than going through a proxy service (even if you could still get it for the 10500 yen), if you’re interested in this specific cover, slayer. Though after shipping and the shitty exchange rate, it will probably run you closer to $200.

Here’s the link if you’re interested. Though stuff on Mandarake tends to go pretty quickly: http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-568996.html
