Meiya Mitsurugi from Muv-Luv Alternative (Kotobukiya Version)

Meiya Mitsurugi from Muv-Luv Alternative

Continuing with the tight bodysuit theme, today we’ll take a look at Meiya Mitsurugi, the heroine from Age’s eroge Muv-Luv Alternative. Kotobukiya, of course, has made a number of figures of the characters from Total Eclipse – quite probably the best-known property of the Muv-Luv franchise, thanks to its recent anime adaptation. It’s a little bit surprising that Kotobukiya has gone to the older title, since few manufacturers aside from Volks and Good Smile Company have ever shown interest in making figures of its characters. Nonetheless, I’m glad that they have, since its character designs are quite appealing, particularly because of their pilot suits.

Horizon Ariadust from Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (Volks Version)

Horizon Ariadust figure by Volks

A figure that is released late is nothing new; many collectors breathed a happy sigh the other day as Alter finally shipped the figure of that one Steins;Gate girl with the bicycle, nearly fourteen months after it first went up for order. A figure that goes almost two years between availability and shipment, though; that’s a bit more uncommon. Looking through my e-mail, I found that I originally ordered this figure on January 31, 2012, and I received it on October 30, 2013 – a time span of 638 days. Putting up money nearly two years in advance for a little plastic doll might seem insane to many people, but I suppose it’s something that figure collectors are perfectly accustomed to. We’re an odd species, being like that.

Preorder Outlook XXX

Having run this site for almost five years now, I’ve noticed a curious phenomenon: every time someone links to this site, a note is typically appended stating something to the effect that this site might be adult-oriented or explicit or somesuch. I’m not really sure why people make these sorts of allegations – I mean, a lot of those links come from anime or hobby-oriented boards, and has anyone seen what goes on in anime these days? At any rate, it seems appropriate to note this for the thirtieth preorder outlook post. Unfortunately, we don’t have anything too explicit to look at today – by anime standards, anyway. By any other standard, I think some of this stuff might be grounds for a court summons.

Mikan Yuuki from To Love-Ru Darkness (Precious Collection Version)

Mikan Yuuki figure

The harem high school comedy is a staple of contemporary anime. To Love-Ru is representative of the genre and, judging by its three seasons of shows, is one of the most popular examples of the type. However, despite its success – and its expansive and attractive female cast – it hasn’t gotten a lot of figures. The few that it has gotten come from a variety of manufacturers, several of them being rather less well-known. Such is the case with this figure of Mikan Yuuki; let’s take a look at it.

Aegis from Persona 3 (SIF EX Maid Uniform Version)

Aegis figure from Persona 3

As anyone who follows the news knows by now, when one lives in a time that requires decisive action and heroic effort, the American thing to do is to call it a day and shut it down. Eventually, however, one does need to get back to work. Theoretically, anyway. (If anyone is curious, I recently bought a new video card and have been busying myself with various MMOs and getting Skyrim to work.) A number of nice new figures have recently been released, and we’ll be looking at some of them in the upcoming days and weeks, but for now, I have a ton of figures piled up waiting for review and Aegis is one of them. Let’s take a quick look at her.

Maya Kamiwazumi from Fault!! Service: Aratanaru Rival (NSFW)

Maya Kamiwazumi figure from Alphamax

Making up for lost time, we will once more examine another ero figure. However, while the Freezing girls merely come from a fanservice-heavy TV anime, Maya Kamiwazumi stars in a bona fide eroge and anime. Fault!! Service: Aratanaru Rival is the sequel to Ciel’s Fault!!, the game that Ai Saeki and Reiko Date Wingfield come from. In choosing to produce Maya, Alphamax has curiously skipped over original characters Mio Sugiyama and Rika Hayama, which is a little surprising; I had expected them to make a figure of Mio, at least, given how strangely popular the incest thing is. At any rate, Maya is here, so let’s learn a little more about her.

Dakimakura Review – Kinmokusei from the Art of Carnelian (NSFW)

Kinmokusei dakimakura by Carnelian

It’s time for pillow talk. Right now, the new hotness in the pillowcase world – and the anime world in general – is the Kantai Collection, further proof – in case anyone needed it – that you can slap a pair of big eyes and tits on any concept and it will sell. This pillowcase, however, is a bit older, having been releaased in 2012. I thought about picking it up at the time but passed on it. A while later, I began thinking that that was a mistake, and started looking through the usual secondary market sources to see if I could amend the error. Fortunately, the circle who produces this dakimakura cover occasionally restocks out-of-print pillowcases, and so I was able to purchase this cover.

Preorder Outlook XXIX

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, and there have been a bunch of figures that have gone up for order in the interim. We’ve got some video game characters, a necromancer, a lot of redheads, a big-ass doll, and even a figure from Alter here; let’s take a look at them.

Ganessa Roland from Freezing (Sexy Version) (NSFW)

Ganessa Roland figure by FREEing

The fourth FREEing Freezing girl is Ganessa Roland, a student at West Genetics with the nickname “The Angel of Binding.” Like series heroine Satellizer, she’s a British girl, though while Satella is timid and withdrawn, Ganessa is a haughty, arrogant, and brash fireball. In the very first episode of the anime adaptation, we see Ganessa in action as she assaults and defeats Satellizer, and for a while it seemed like she would serve as an antagonist – or at least as a foil – to the show’s lead girl. Strangely, if I recall correctly, she then fades into the background for much of the rest of the series, not really doing much until the last couple of episodes – though she does make a brief appearance in the prom episode, dressed as a dominatrix. At any rate, she’s gotten a figure of her own so let’s take a look at it.

Rana Linchen from Freezing (Sexy Version) (NSFW)

Rana Linchen from Freezing by FREEing

Freezing is one of the worst anime series I’ve watched to completion but that hasn’t stopped it from inexplicably getting a second season (titled, with all appropriate subtlety, Freezing Vibration). Nor has that stopped it from receiving a number of figures, which is more understandable given the pleasing looks of much of the show’s (and manga’s) principal cast. FREEing has made the majority of them, including lead girl Satellizer el Bridget. Today we’ll look at her co-star and romantic rival, the happy Tibetan homewrecker Rana Linchen.
