Year Fourteen Retrospective

And we celebrate the conclusion of year 14 of Tentacle Armada, though the pace of updates is still particularly slow, which I’m not proud of. I’m certainly not quitting collecting figures; I think I’m buying more figures than ever before, actually. Unfortunately, I’m also playing more gacha games than ever before; they’re an incredible time sink – though, thankfully, not a very large money sink for me, as I don’t spend a lot of money on them, at least relative to some of my other hobbies.

This last year was sort of a lousy year for me, though being that I live a fairly comfortable and stable life, complaining about things seems inordinately gauche. But here we go: first, my satisfaction with my day job has degenerated markedly, to the point that I’ve spent the last few months searching for a new employer, and I’ve forgotten how mentally taxing a job search can be. My car also got wrecked late last year, which I’m still a bit sad about – though the insurance payout was greater than the invoice price for the car when it was brand new, and the vehicle I bought as a replacement is better, so I’m not that sad.

Usually a dearth of posts is due to me being too lazy to photograph figures, but I’ve actually got a fairly extensive queue of figures that just need writeups. Here’s some of them:

All this is to say … more posts are coming very soon – just as soon as I put the tablet away.

Thanks very much! Ahahahaha, well, we’ll at least see Musashi soon, I have the review half-written already … I used to be a lot better at writing these, I’m not sure why I have so much trouble with the text now. There will definitely be more figures from gacha games though, since I have a bunch of Arknights, Azur Lane, Iron Saga, and Fate Grand Order figures waiting here.

Fourteen years, holy s**t. Time flies when your’re having fun XD

So you got rear-ended, too bad. I seem to remember that this was your first new car, and losing it this way is certainly a bit sad.

The other day, someone on MFC reviewed Solange https://www.tentaclearmada.com/2012/04/solange-from-code-of-princess/ after they got her only recently. I commented that I saw another review some ten years ago on Tentaclearmada, and they answered that they used to visit here too but they thought you had gone OOB due to the lack of updates… >_<

Those figures you are teasing here are all very nice. I hope we get to see them rather sooner than later 😛

Thanks! Time also flies when you’re getting old … and man am I old …

Yeah, losing my car was really unfortunate. On the plus side, I did get into a better car, and it’s essentially the same sort of car as my old car so I’m comfortable with it. On the down side, I’m working from home now and I don’t really have to drive much, so having bought a brand-new car last year was kind of a waste of money.

Oh man, that makes me feel really bad. I don’t pay as much attention to the site stats as I did long ago but the site traffic is way down and I don’t think it’s ever coming back. But hopefully I can get some people to come back.

Thanks 😀 Musashi’s review should be up tomorrow at least! I’ve got it halfway written already … after having sat on the photos for something like three months, admittedly.

    14 Years!
Good that you are still around anyway, I always like to see and read your posts.
I wish figure review blogs would have stayed popular for a bit longer.
But I will continue with it nevertheless, when I get in the mood it’s still fun.

I’m less in the mood to create posts regularly but I still try to sit down and write a few educated sentences. You probably have a bunch of figures you want to review. I have around seven sets of pictures that I nearly finished, but the text is not so easily done unfortunately.

Anyway even with less posts your blog is still one of the most popular figure blogs.

I see you also have Cecile, it’s quite remarkable that such a lovely figures was made by Vertex.
When I remember my other figures made by them it’s a big difference.
What kind of lens did you use for this picture?

The poor Honda, well a friend told me that many in the US are dangerous drivers

Thanks! Yep, I am still around … I need to update more but I am still buying more figures and pillowcases than ever. I actually just commissioned a dakimakura cover and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it will turn out. I still read your blog too though I always forget to comment 😀 I’ll try to do better about that this year.

Yeah, after having done this for so long, sometimes it is hard to find the motivation to write a new post. I have so many figures I want to review … I’m not actually sure I’ll ever get to write them all.

Indeed I have Cecile! Yeah, I’ve noticed a lot of quality differences with Vertex. I think I was not too impressed by Archeyle, the first Elf Village character … Cecile looks very very nice, though. I use the same 100mm macro lens that I’ve used for a while, but I upgraded to a full-frame camera not too long ago (though it’s an older model … I still use an old DSLR instead of one of the new mirrorless cameras that all the camera makers have gone towards).

Yeah, my poor car … the combination of inattentive drivers and road construction makes some of the roads here very scary to drive on sometimes.

I don’t know when I discovered your stuff, but it was a while ago. Not fourteen years (I don’t think), but a while. What stood out was the sexiness of your characters and the quality of your photography. So many shots that were so close up(!) and well lit too. I just hadn’t seen photos of figures that looked that good. Thus, I was like, ‘I’m bookmarking that page!’ LOL I have no idea how I found your stuff, but I’m glad I did.

Much love and respect for fourteen years and although your last year was kinda down, I hope your next one is awesome! All the best and take care. 🙂

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m happy to hear that you’ve been visiting here for a while 😀 Also, apologies for the delay in getting your comment online, sometimes I don’t get an e-mail notification when someone comments and I’m not certain why.
