Mimi Usada from the Art of Saitom (NSFW)

Saitom’s profile has skyrocketed in recent times, thanks in large part due to his design work for the Xenoblade Chronicles games, but he’s been a prolific artist for quite some time. Aside from his more mainstream work, he’s produced a fair amount of lewd art, and one such image serves as the inspiration for this figure.

Mimi is about 27 centimeters tall from the top of the base to the highest point of her bunny ears; the base itself around 2.5 centimeters tall, making this figure a bit under 30 centimeters in overall height. She comes with a few different display options, most notably a removable bikini and, apropos for our times, a removable mouth mask.

This figure was released in September of 2021 and is the second character in this unofficial series to be released; the first was Yu Usada, released way back in May of 2019. I’ve actually got that figure somewhere around here, still awaiting a review, as are the vast majority of figures I’ve purchased in the last seven years or so. Mimi appears to be the younger sibling of the two; as seems to be traditional with younger sisters in anime-style art, Mimi wears her hair in twintails, splayed out to either side. What is perhaps less typical is that Mimi’s chest is impressively large; for some odd reason it seems like anime girls with twintails are commonly paired with more modest breasts but Mimi is an exception to this convention.

Mimi’s bikini features a distinctive quilted pattern, adding an element of visual element. The castoff system is unfortunately frustrating to deal with; I wound up ripping the waistband of her bikini bottom while trying to reattach it. I suppose it’s not a huge deal as I was only putting her bikini back on for photographs rather than for display, but this level of fragility is one reason why I don’t really like reviewing figures with castoff systems these days.

The print on her bikini reads “Bunny playing is happy 00110111.” The slogan is cryptic but understandable, but the binary number (55 in decimal) evades easy comprehension.

That said, we’re not really her to look at her swimwear. Her bikini can be removed in a relatively typical manner.

She still keeps her belt though, even without any article of clothing to hold up.

I looked up the source artwork and it dates back years, well before the COVID pandemic. Nonetheless, Mimi is ahead of contemporary trends in sporting an optional mouth mask.

Her thighhighs are made of a fishnet material, sort of like FREEing’s bunnysuit figures. She also wears these distinctive high-heeled sneakers, featuring the same quilted pattern as her bikini. If anyone is curious, the text says, “! I’m going to oppai’s land !!!!!!!!!” Really.

She also comes with this curious shield – at least, I think it’s a shield, since her sister had a sword – designed in a blocky Minecraft fashion. Her base is also constructed in the same manner and both are rather dissonant in effect.

Mimi wears this streetwear-styled jacket. There’s a multitude of design motifs visible here – bunny ears, streetwear fashion, fishnets, a swimsuit, and a shield – and I’m not sure that they mesh all that well. However, as incongruous as they might be in aggregate, Mimi does look really good.

And that’s really all the rationale I need to enjoy a figure. Mimi has a very pleasing appearance and she’s relatively unique, at least insofar as bunnygirl figures go. The lewdness factor is high and, like virtually every SkyTube figure I have, the sculpting quality is superb. I just need to figure out where I put her sister’s box so that I can review her as well.
