Preorder Outlook LVI

It’s been a couple of months since the last preorder post, so now is a good time to take a look at some of the figures I am thinking of preordering. It’s an eclectic list, with a few figures from some older properties, a variety of Native figures, a shipgirl, and oh yes, one girl with a penis. Let’s take a look.

November 2018

Misato Katsuragi from Neon Genesis Evangelion
Evangelion used to be a massive cash cow for Gainax, and perhaps it still is, but we haven’t seen a lot of figures of the girls from this series in recent times. Further, Misato hasn’t gotten a lot of figures at all – I can remember the one from Kotobukiya, and I actually have an unlicensed figure of her with a motorcycle from E2046 that I might review someday, but it’s a rare moment when one of her figures goes up for preorder. This one looks pretty nice, though sort of nondescript; there’s not a lot of emotion going on here, but the swimsuit is pretty sexy. I vaguely remember that Misato has a giant scar on her torso though, so I wonder where it went?

December 2018

Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail
I’ve never actually seen Fairy Tail, nor do I know anything about it. I admit that the main reason I’m interested in this figure is that she looks comparable to Sasara. I’m not sure if that’s enough to make me want to spend the money on this figure, but she does tick a lot of boxes with respect to things I like.

Mikan Yuuki from To Love-Ru
This is the second Union Creative figure on this list already; clearly they are making the right sort of figures, at least from my perspective. Any depiction of Mikan wearing a thong is going to get a look from me, and she does look great. I’m not a big fan of the horns or claws, though; they remind me of some of the Black Rock Shooter characters, which I’m not a huge fan of.

January 2019

Ade-Sugata II from the Art of Homare
I like this figure quite a bit, particularly since I am a fan of Homare’s artwork and I like the bondage theme. But with so many figures from Native on my radar, this one might get squeezed off of the list.

Ixseal from Beat Valkyrie Ixseal
There’s no such danger with this figure. Being a fan of Alicesoft’s games, particularly Beat Blades Haruka (though I’m still annoyed that nobody made a figure of Subaru), pre-ordering this figure takes little consideration. The tentacles just make it all the better.

March 2019

Noel Marres Ascot from Walkure Romanze
Ordering this figure is also an automatic decision. I’ve been a big of Daiki Kougyou’s Walkure Romanze figures – aside from Mio, who, for some reason, is sculpted in a peculiarly smaller scale than her castmates – and I’m very happy to see Noel finally get a figure. I presume that she’ll be the same size as Celia and Berille and if she is, she will no doubt be an excellent figure.

April 2019

Annette from Phantasy Star Online 2
I have a soft spot for the Phantasy Star series – I’m planning to discuss that in a future review – and so I’m leaning towards picking this figure up. It’s not particularly special but the character is cute and the swimsuit is sexy.

Olga Discordia from Kuroinu
This is a figure that I have to imagine that a lot of people have been waiting for. Kuroinu has been a colossal fan favorite, with the hentai anime series getting a fifth OVA just a month or two ago. It’s great that we’re getting a figure of perhaps the most popular character of the series; that it’s 1/4 scale is even more pleasing.

May 2019

Ayaka Sawara from the BINDing Creator’s Opinion
Native has put up several 1/4 scale bunny girls for preorder, and I’ve missed out on all of them – mostly due to me just forgetting about the order deadline. Ayaka might be the first one that I buy, as she’s got a great body and I am always predisposed to like 1/4 scale figures.

Kurumi Tokisaki from Date A Live
Date A Live seemed like a pretty lousy anime from the few episodes that I watched. I didn’t stick with it long enough to see Kurumi, but she has a nice character design. She looks particularly good here, wearing just her underwear and waving guns around like a deranged Southerner. Alphamax’s quality is of course impeccable and thus I’m very much looking forward to this figure.

June 2019

Hermaphroditus from Hutaket 13 Tapestry
We’re getting another futanari figure based off of Ban!’s artwork. She appears to have an option to have a normal vagina so I’ll pick up this figure for that reason, as I’m not particularly interested in having her wave her penis around.

July 2019

Vampire from Azur Lane
Azur Lane came out in the English market last month and I’ve been playing it over the last week or so. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed it a lot, and that’s gotten me interested in the characters. It obviously has a lot of thematic similarities to Kantai Collection (a series that I haven’t gotten many figures from, despite its overarching popularity), but one aspect in which it differs is its inclusion of characters based on American ships, which I freely admit that I am hugely biased towards. I’m hoping that we’ll one day see figures of characters like Enterprise and Brooklyn, but one of the first figures to come from a major manufacturer is Alter’s Vampire. She looks quite nice – like Kurumi Tokisaki, flashing her underwear. Her price tag is really high for a 1/7 scale figure but I suppose I have a lot of time to save up my money.

Any idea if Erza Scarlet is cast off? I have been searching but I can’t come up with an answer.

  2. wieselhead says:

better that Misato than none 😀 lol fortunately this figure isn’t bad at all, although I could imagine the best NGE girl in a variety of figures different from this one.

Erza Scarlet looks cool, but I had the thought of her already been released.

Ade-Sugata II is funny, poor girl… Native really releases way too many figures, before that change it was nice to know that they only make a few figures a year I have to decide about.
Now with all the sub labels it became a “disaster” XD

While Olga doesn’t convince me at her 1/4 scale, Ayaka Sawara looks so lively that I mistook her to be 1/6 scale lol, but such a nice bunny girl figure. I find it just a bit odd that her size is like a Dollfie’s XD

The Hermaphroditus has great hips and a beautiful belly, but the face looks too serious in my opinion.

Azur Lane is a nice game, I mainly get the Royal Navy dhips but that is ok.
On first build I got Enterprise though XD I want a Honolulu.
Vampire is really cute, naughty loli figures are not shown that often, thank you ALTER.

Yeah, poor Misato doesn’t get that much love, aside from the Kotobukiya one from years and years back. I guess Ritsuko has it worse but I haven’t heard of anyone really pining away for a figure of her.

I definitely can’t afford all the Native figures that I want ;_; I’ve skipped a bunch, sometimes because I don’t have the money for them and sometimes because I just forgot to put in an order. I like the first Ade-sugata figure but I’m having some second thoughts about ordering the second, especially since Lechery has some nice 1/5 scale figures based on Homare’s art.

I have to admit that playing Azur Lane is the main reason I haven’t posted a review this month XD I feel kind of bad about that since I’ve had a set of photos processed and ready to plug into a post for a week now. Ahahaha, you got Enterprise the easy and lucky way. I wonder if she’ll be a main character in the anime adaptation? If she is, I wonder how the Japanese audience will like that?

  3. Danny says:

Any sites you recommend ordering from that doesn’t rob you of shipping? Thanks!

    • Tier says:

Gee, I’m not really sure; the problem is that a lot of times, places with cheap shipping will just jack up the price on the product so you don’t really save any money. If you’re okay with buying from Japanese retailers, Amiami and Hobby Search are probably the most popular. In the US, Bigbadtoystore offers $4 shipping on almost everything. I’ve heard good things about Tokyo Otaku Mode but I have never ordered from them.

  4. Tian says:

Misato SHOULD have a scar… It’s not just edgy character design, it’s part of her whole motivation in the series!

    • bostonbrandon says:

Yes, this is just sloppy figure design and lack of respect to the character.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I was wondering if there was some reason why she doesn’t have it here, aside from a massive oversight on the sculptor’s part. I haven’t yet watched the movie remake so I wasn’t sure if they changed something about her character.

  5. bostonbrandon says:

    “wave her penis around” lol

If you purchase her and decide that you’re not feeling it let me know. Also, a great line-up. I have to say that your mention of Olga made me check out Kuroinu (only the first two episodes) and as far as hentai goes it’s pretty good.
I also need to vent my frustration over the Misato figure. While it’s great to finally have one… well, they really should have done a better job representing the character. Or at the very least, if they were going to just bikini her out, perhaps make her face look more accurate. I mean honestly, why give her a skirt jacket and shoes but no shirt and a bathing suit instead of underwear.

    • Tier says:

I’m kind of surprised and sort of impressed by how many people like futanari art. It’s really not my thing but I’m really in no position to be saying anything about it XD Kuroinu is a pretty great hentai anime; I’ve noticed that fantasy-themed hentai seems not as popular these days as it used to be (especially versus stuff like NTR or hypnosis hentai) which is a shame.

Ahahaha, I was pretty nonplussed about the swimsuit as well; it doesn’t make sense at all. I’m thinking I’ll probably just skip that figure. Though I get the feeling that motorcycle figure I bought from E2046 years back might not be all that popular, either.
