Ran Kohinata figure

Happy New Year’s Eve to everyone. In years past this day has been celebrated with my year-ending five favorite figures post, but being that I’m lazy as usual – not to mention I haven’t even decided which five figures are my favorites – that post will be written in the first or second week of January. In the meantime, we’ll be taking a look at this unhappy girl, one Ran Kohinata, who is apparently taking a break from her law enforcement responsibilities.

Ran Kohinata figure

This figure is manufactured by Alphamax via their SkyTube line. Like most of their figures, it’s sculpted in 1/6 scale and comes with a bundle of accessories to facilitiate displaying her to your desired level of lewdness.

Ran Kohinata figure

We’ll start at the bottom with the toilet that Ran is seated upon. Curiously, this is at least the third figure-sized toilet that I own; even though I don’t have a thing for toilets or organic materials they are used to dispose of, they somehow keep finding their way into my collection.

Ran Kohinata figure

It’s actually a fairly detailed toilet, with a hinged lid and seat and a removable cover for the cistern. It also comes with a checkered bottom plate, but it’s stable enough without it, if you’re like me and prefer not to waste the shelf space. Also, she doesn’t actually need to be displayed upon her throne; she can sit upright by herself just fine.

Ran Kohinata figure

Ran is sporting a most disagreeable expression, which is a little unusual even amongst ero figures; there aren’t many porno figures in which the characters display outright anger. Then again, there aren’t too many porno figures in which the characters are victims of overt sexual assault as Ran is here. I feel like I should be disturbed that such a figure even exists, not to mention that it’s more or less a mainstream figure, but at the risk of painting myself as an unconscientious cad, I have to admit I’m not really all that bothered by any of this.

Ran Kohinata figure

Ran can be displayed wearing her panties, though no corresponding bra is provided; there’s no family-friendly way to display her unless you improvise something yourself. Note that her panties are basically see-through, too. Incidentally, her hat is held in place by a magnet and it too is also obviously removable.

Ran Kohinata figure

Disassembling Ran is a very straightforward affair; all the pieces detach and re-attach smoothly and securely, with a minimum of fuss. That’s one of my favorite aspects of SkyTube’s figures; I’ve collected a number of figures where the castoff process is an absolute pain in the ass (looking at you, MegaHouse and Daiki Kougyou) but SkyTube’s figures are very easy to work with.

Unsurprisingly, Ran’s panties can be removed. So can her skirt, technically, but you can’t display her without it; her upper torso and bottom portion don’t connect correctly without it.

Ran Kohinata figure

Her vagina is quite nicely featured, with some real anatomic aspect rather than just being an undetailed slit. Ran lacks an anus, though, for people who care about such things.

Ran Kohinata figure

Ran is tied up with her legs spread wide with a bar; the bar in inserted through the loops in the (plastic) cord. Do take care to insert the bar accurately, though, since I noticed a little paint transfer when I scraped it against her leg.

Ran Kohinata figure

As sexualized as this figure is, fun times start with this alternate lower torso which depicts her vagina in a state of impressive distension.

Ran Kohinata figure

Looking deeply inside, I think there’s a sculpted cervix in there. Is that a new thing in figure design? Is this a positive trend in figure themes? I think it’s a pretty neat innovation. The funny thing is that SkyTube’s Matsuri Tougetsu, had a similarly stretched vagina; both that figure and Ran are derived from illustrations created by Misaki Kurehito; his work, which often sexualized, isn’t particularly hardcore, but you really wouldn’t know it if you were only familiar with his style through these figures.

Ran Kohinata figure

This police baton is provided, used here to hopefully provide a more pleasurable experience than in its more typical function of beating uncooperative citizens. It inserts smoothly and stays securely in her body, despite its evident unwieldiness.

Ran Kohinata figure

Like so.

Ran Kohinata figure

I dunno, it’s kind of comical-looking, I suppose. Maybe that takes a little of the edge off of this figure. Or perhaps not. It’s certainly an interesting substitute for a sex toy.

Ran Kohinata figure

Well, I’ll note one thing; some of the promo pictures showed Matsuri sitting in a pool of urine, which is actually how the original artwork looked. I’m not sure if my figure came with anything like that; the included instruction sheet makes some mention of it but as no English translation is provided, I’m not sure what it says. I have to admit I didn’t search the box very thoroughly for additional parts or stickers; if it’s not there, I’m not particularly sorry that the urine wasn’t provided. I suppose that if she were depicted pissing herself, she is at least seated in the right place for it.

Ran Kohinata figure

Despite being a very nicely-sculpted figure based off the work of a highly talented anime artist (one whose mainstream work – Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata – has gotten a number of less risque figures), I would guess that this figure has somewhat limited appeal. But for those who don’t mind – or like – this sort of thing, this is a really great figure. I know I keep saying this but SkyTube is one of the best things to happen to figure collectors.

Starting the year with a bang!

And a farewell prezzie for the prez!

    LOL

    • Fransua says:

LOL. I feel that the Donald will fit the role better

    • Tier says:

It feels like it’s been a while since I reviewed a SkyTube figure; it’s nice to put one in front of the camera again. You know, I kinda planned on retiring the president at the end of his term but I might have to keep him on for a while, partly because nobody’s made a Trump doll yet, and partly because I think Trump is a revolting personality and I dunno how great I’d feel about paying money for something that resembles him. (Though I guess I probably shouldn’t be bothered by that being that since I work for a government contractor, I’ll technically be working for him in a couple of weeks.)

      • TomTheCat says:

As I see it, Trump simply went ahead and bought himself the presidency. As long as you don’t have the funds to do likewise, instead of getting a doll of him you should rather spend your scarce money on something more pleasing to the eye 😉

        • Tier says:

That and Hillary ran a ludicrously awful campaign (though that’s easy to say in hindsight; everyone [including me] thought she was gonna walk away with the office). I didn’t vote for him but to be honest, I’m kinda curious to see what he does; as a middle-class person who works for the government and gets health insurance from my employer, I’m mostly insulated from all the really nasty things he can do.

The money certainly could be better-spent; I haven’t gotten a new dakimakura cover in forever (though that’s mostly by choice; they’re a preposterous waste of money, objectively speaking), I’m kinda interested in getting a PS4 someday, and I’ve started a modest wristwatch collection (partly due to style, but mostly because I’m not allowed to have a cell phone at work, which is how I used to check time).

  2. Aya says:

Damn 😀 so a Baton instead of usual dildo. and Finally proper pose again with Mr prez :3
They should consider Glued the Baton with the Hole if made such optional part 😛

    • Tier says:

It actually fits really well! It stays in place and you kind of have to unscrew it to remove it, which feels all kinds of weird.

      • TomTheCat says:

        Eeeeewwwww! *shudder* XD

      • Aya says:

Damn…… Somehow I feel they will make it with Silicone in the future … to give better feels @_@

        • Tier says:

I wouldn’t be shocked if someone’s already done it. I know a number of companies (even Alter) have used silicone to give their figures more pliant breasts.

      • BostonBrandon says:

Is there no paint transfer/damage to the baton or birth canal?

        • Tier says:

I’m not sure; I did not notice any. However, that’s definitely something to be concerned about, as I did notice some paint transfer from the spreader bar. It didn’t bother me as it occurred on the set of legs with the normal vagina, and I was going to display her with the more humorously distended opening instead.

  3. Koza says:

Will you ever show us your collection, like shelves full of figures?

    • Tier says:

Maybe someday but I’m not really into collection displays or room posts (is that still a thing? I remember they were a really popular thing to do on figure websites, around six or seven years ago).

  4. Gutiman Reggae says:

Excellent figure…I can recommend pages of similar figures?

    • Tier says:

Uhh, I guess you can, or if you’re looking for recommendations, I cannot help you as I don’t really know any pages with similar figures. I guess there was this one Japanese guy who used to post pictures of his figures slathered with condensed milk, but I don’t know if he is still around.

  5. BostonBrandon says:

I understand your dilemma regarding the purchase of a Trump figure. The great thing about the Obama appearances in your photography (for me anyway) was the absurdity of it. With Trump; well, it’s not such a stretch from reality.
Daiki Kougyou has shown promo pics of a posable disgusting fat man, but as a 1/12th scale I don’t believe he would be of use in your photoshoots. Ironically, he comes with a few accessories. One of which is a toilet.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, that was really what I was aiming for; he seems like an upstanding guy in real life, as opposed to Trump, who literally said on camera that he does (or imagines himself doing) exactly what I did with the Obama doll. Though if I did get a Trump doll and used it, there would be sort of a repulsive quality that might go well with the ero figures I like to include Obama with.

That’s an interesting thing, I didn’t know about that. I guess he might work well with Figmas? I don’t really collect Figmas but I do have a few, and it would certainly be easier to pose them, and I’d never have to worry about snapping parts off of my figures while entwining them.

  6. Phil says:

So, the important question…..are you getting a Trump doll??

    :p

    • Tier says:

Uhh, I dunno. Apart from any decision as to whether I actually want such a thing, I don’t think any manufacturer has yet made one, particularly one with a reasonable likeness to the man. I’m kinda expecting someone to make such a thing eventually; I’d guess that none of the Chinese doll companies had one ready because no one expected him to actually win.

  7. Tian says:

I think Embrace Japan’s Duram Sherif figure had by far the most annoying cast-off ever. AND the pieces would transfer paint all over her skin.

I lol’d at the sculpted cervix. I’m just hoping there was some kind of meeting where one of the executives was like “Yes, we have to sculpt the cervix. People will be looking up her hoo-ha and so we can’t omit that anatomical detail. What are we, Orchid Seed?”

    • Tier says:

That’s always really freaking annoying. Maybe I’m just getting too old to appreciate the novelty of sculpted plastic titties but I’d rather go without the castoff option than fiddle for half an hour trying to assemble a figure.

I love SkyTube for that. Whoever their management might be, they have their priorities in all the right places. I see that their latest figure features copulation with produce. I mean, how do you get approval for something like that?

  8. Anounymous says:

anybody know what figure this is called?
    http://www.subirporno.com/view.php?idgal=b6a8cdd64382383f29fac327a8292096&num=7#
i’ve been searching everywhere and can’t find a name

    • TomTheCat says:

I didn’t find anything either (Which, tbh, doesn’t mean very much). For what it’s worth however, judging by the “archer theme” it looks like it could be a Kan Colle aircraft carrier character.

    • Tier says:

I am so, so behind on answering comments – I’ll finish answering them tomorrow – but that’s Mina Majikina from Samurai Shodown. I don’t recall that the original figure had a nude option but I don’t actually own the figure myself, so I wouldn’t know.

      • TomTheCat says:

Here are more nude pictures: http://www005.upp.so-net.ne.jp/degus/figure2/mina/index.html This is obviously a customized figure. The top and the skirt appear to be loose enough to be cast-offable on official photos of the original figure, but the bikini bottom is sculpted to the body. Perhaps the original garage kit had a full-nude option, but I’m not aware of any pictures of that one. (Well, perhaps these are of a garage kit example after all…?)

        • Tier says:

Yeah, I’d guess the original linked picture is a customized version of a recast. I don’t know if there was a garage kit version but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was, since a lot of Daiki Kougyou’s products are PVC adaptations of resin kits.

  9. Sangaz says:

I’ve been on the fence about buying this one. I love Misaki’s art, and his Aun Comic cover page illustrations tend to be really nice too.

My main gripe about this figure, though, is the visibility of the wasteline. The less of a visible abdomen a figure has, the less I like it. More points if the midriff is exposed, with some sexy navel depicted.

My second gripe is the lack of an anus. The Matsuri figure, which I did buy, while not having an anus, has at least tiny hole sculpted, so I’m not too bothered by it. While I’m not a fan of anal stuff, I like the way an anus looks. It’s about that erotic feel. I’m more into vaginas, though.

All in all, I’ve decided to pass on this one after this. Thanks for the post man!

    • Tier says:

My pleasure! Haha, yeah, the missing anus is a little curious given how far the rest of the figure goes. And yeah, I can understand not liking that her midriff isn’t as prominent here. I was disappointed that her skirt can’t be taken off. I recall that with Dragon Toy’s policewoman figure (whose name escapes me at the moment), I really liked how she looked without her skirt; there was a nice length of visible skin extending from her chest to her thighs.

  10. wieselhead says:

Omg! Oh my god …! you can really stick it in there Σ(゜ロ゜;)
and to set the lewdness bar a little higher the gaping hole is also shiny XD.
Her optional hips look obviously far more pretty and appealing to me.

While I won’t judge the purchase of such “extreme” figures, I can’t really get behind the appeal of them. Haha such a grotesque figure, maybe it’s so wrong that it’s funny again.

Alphamax should have made a version where the baton only fits into her other hole (⁄ ⁄^⁄ᗨ⁄^⁄ ⁄)

    • To be honest, I’m really amaze that the stick can really fit in that hole. By the way what happen to you on DA, you haven’t post anything since last year of May? I would really like to see your new collections in your DA account. Bet it’s amazing.

      • wieselhead says:

        XD

Oh, sorry, I really neglected DA since some months now, I don’t know, but I rather like to upload on Flickr and Instagram 😀

but of course I could upload all the content there as well (*´∀`*)

        • Well, I think you totally should start uploading your collections back on DA as well because I’ve always stop by your DA to see if you update your stuff and I think they are all beautiful. So I was confuse why you did upload your pics on DA when you’re doing so well?

          • wieselhead says:

all right with so much friendly flattering, I can’t ignore your request, I started to upload 1-2 pictures a day.
big thx for your interest ~ヾ(^∇^)

    • Tier says:

You can! You can probably stick all sorts of things in there. It’s times like this I regret not buying some Daiki Gel when I could have (though I suppose I could still just use condensed milk, that old staple of porno figure photographers).

The appeal is obvious! You should get one for yourself and see if you like it. Like maybe you could get Yayoi and see if her creative usage of vegetables is to your taste.

Haha, that would have been awesome XD I totally agree. If they had done that, this might have been my #1 favoritest figure of the year.

      • wieselhead says:

lol you could probably combine it with the dude from Native XD
I was surprised that it had quite a decent thing pointing upwards.

Some people use “other” liquids instead ahahaha

Omg, well Yayoi is a playful adaption of a shameless figure ( ̄▽+ ̄*)
I hope she washed that carrot before. Well, yeah I really like Tougetsu Matsuri, but that extra feature prevented a purchase (︶︹︺) …so far

        • Tier says:

That would be kinda funny. Did he really have a realistically-sculpted schlong? I didn’t check.

Hopefully Yayoi is practicing good hygiene. I guess we’ll see how big her, uhh, aperture is whenever we see some uncensored pictures. I’m gonna be amused if such a sweet-looking girl has this big gaping vagina.

          • TomTheCat says:

Well, his dick is realistic enough. I’ve seen some pictures in which he “interacts” (ahem) with the very figure you’ve reviewed here. They fit together rather nicely, although the poses of the respective figures are of course not made for each other.

  11. I see what you did there, but aside from that. This really is an interesting figure, by the way how much did you pay for this figure, I may consider looking into it or purchase of her.

    • Tier says:

Umm, I think I paid whatever the normal price was, which was probably like 12,000 yen or so? Something like that. Of course the exchange rate was a little worse last summer than it is now, if you’re paying in US currency.

  12. mikey22 says:

Hey dude first time reading your blog. You got a good site and a good collection. Anyway where did you buy the obama doll? I’ve been trying to search on the internet but I can’t find it. Also how much was the obama doll?

    • Tier says:

I got it from Bigbadtoystore, I think. It’s a Hot Toys doll; it wasn’t actually labeled an Obama doll, I think it was just their base 1/6 scale African-American body Here’s an Amazon listing for it; it’s an old doll and I don’t think any toy stores still have it in stock.

  13. moguu says:

Great blog, been enjoying it for years.

Just wanted to leave a note that it’s time for a change of the guard:
    http://figsoku.net/blog-entry-52619.html

    • Tier says:

Thanks much! Ha, yeah, I guess I might have to consider that. I dunno, the thing about using Obama is that I think he is a very decent man, irrespective of his politics, which made using him in these sorts of situations amusing to me. Somehow it seems like it might be less fun to use Trump – but then, I guess he is the president. (And oh man, it’s $120. That’s a decent chunk of change to drop on something that represents such a repulsive man.)

  14. Alison Mae says:

I’ve been following your reviews for a while.
I would like to share some of my figure reviews with you (Alter’s Super Sonico Summer Santa and Sora Kasugano Cheongsam), how can I do that?
    I don’t have any web.

  15. Tomy Jordanov says:

    Hi Tier,

I have no idea where to write to you about this so i’ll ask here:
why did you stop doing Dakimakura reviews ?

    • Tier says:

That is a good question. Mainly it’s because I didn’t find them too compelling to write or photograph, and I wasn’t sure if people were all that interested in seeing them. I do actually have a few new dakimakura covers that I’ve never reviewed here, if people actually do dig that kind of stuff.
