Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2

Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2 Figure Review

Here are a few certainties in life: music that people half your age like will always suck, politicians will always lie, the Washington Redskins will always make terrible personnel decisions, and figure manufacturers from Alter to Yamato will always turn to the Ikkitousen and To Heart franchises for inspiration. In particular, Kanu Unchou and Tamaki Kousaka are consistent winners, and with a barrage of Tamakis scheduled to drop in the near future, now seems like a good time to look at the Tamaki that Max Factory released in May of this year.

Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2 Figure Review

This particular Tamaki Kousaka was sculpted in 1/6 scale and she’s about 17.5 centimeters tall, not including the base. Speaking of which, I seem to have misplaced it, but it’s a standard disc covered with some fuzzy white material, very much like the base that came with Native’s Collet figure. Despite the huge number of available Tamaki figures, this is only the second one I own, the first being one of Kaitendoh’s first figures. Curiously, both figures were sculpted by the same person: Elliott gets credit for both, although Max Factory also lists Hiroki Katayama – the guy who also Max Factory’s old 1/6 scale Kasumi, one of the first figures I owned – as a contributor. I was surprised to learn that since while they have some superficial similarities, they are very different figures in terms of quality.

Incidentally, that old Tamaki figure is one of the most popular pages on this site, and while I can understand why, I really don’t like my pictures there and I keep thinking I ought to re-do them. I’ve got a sizeable backlog of figures that need to have their pictures taken though, so I don’t think I’ll have the time to do so.

Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2 Figure Review

Tamaki is described as a take-charge alpha female, the sort of girl who uses her imposing presence, vocal volume, and physical pressure to get her way. You don’t really see those qualities here; she looks very demure, or as demure as one can be while wearing not much more than some high socks and low-rise panties. Her expression is angelic, with a tranquil, gull-winged smile on her lips. Her face is my favorite part of this figure, and it’s a testament to how well it’s done that I always notice her smile first rather than her state of undress.

Not that her near-nudity is easy to miss; she’s one of the most risque figures that Max Factory has produced, so much so that one could make a plausible argument that she deserves to be in their Native line instead. She’s basically topless, her breasts on full display for admiration, and to be honest, I find her breasts to be a bit too large. While Tamaki is generally depicted as buxom, each of her breasts are about the same size as her head. I’d like them to be a little bit smaller, but their size doesn’t detract too much from how much I like this figure.

One thing that definitely would have detracted from this figure was the way her hands were clasped in the prototype figure. The early sample showed her hands melded into each other, melting like sliced okra in gumbo. Happily, Max Factory adjusted their sculpt and her fingers are all intact now and instead of looking terrible, they emphasize the majestic size and pillowy softness of her rack.

The sculptors elected to give a bit of softness to her stomach, which I also like a lot, as it gives her more of a girlish appearance and adds additional curves to a figure already replete with them.

I also like how they sculpted her butt. Not enough sculptors give anime girls appealing definition in their backsides, but fortunately Max Factory knows how to do it right. Her panties are also very pretty, and I’m glad they went with a different color than white, since white panties on an anime schoolgirl is so passé.

Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2 Figure Review

Tamaki is basically naked and so the paintwork need not be overly elaborate, but Max Factory has done a very nice job with it anyway. They’ve gone for a more heavy-handed approach to shading, which I think works well, highlighting those curves and adding a touch of feminine pink to her thighhighs.

One curious thing about her paint is the reflectiveness of her eyes. I’m not actually sure if they put some sort of coating on her eyes or if they used really reflective decals, but it complicates taking her picture since you get this huge catchlight. In real life, though, it looks great; her eyes sparkle with a sense of liveliness.

Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka from To Heart 2 Figure Review

Max Factory’s Tamaki is one of my favorite figures of this year and the best Tamaki figure out there, in my opinion. I really wish Max Factory would spend more time making figures like this rather than churning out Figmas or undersized bargain-bin Vocaloid figures (though if they want to do a VN02 Miku in a proper size, I’d be very happy to see that). It would have been pretty easy for the sculptors to craft a sexually-charged Tamaki – since the majority of Tamaki figures out there are such – but somehow they’ve made a figure that looks cute and innocent despite not wearing very many clothes. The seraphic look on her face is just as attractive as her body, and I’m very happy to have this figure in my collection.

Here’s a comparison picture of Max Factory and Kaitendoh Tamaki, both sculpted by the same guy. They don’t look all that similar to me in terms of quality, with Max Factory’s figure being clearly superior. I seem to have lost Kaitendoh Tamaki’s underwear, hence the gaffer tape bra, but if you want to see more pictures in all her uncensored glory, click here, here, and here.

Even though her boobs are a little on the I’m holding two balls of dough that aren’t quite attached to my chest, this is my favorite Tamaki. In the majority of the figures she’s more skanky. The face and mood of this figure is pretty spectacular. Gives it a lifelike quality.

I had the same opinion of her eyes too. A pain for photos but awesome when looking at it IRL.

Also, you’re welcome as far as McNabb is concerned. J/K. The skins problem is more than the quarterback position.

    • Tier says:

Haha, yeah, while I was processing my overhead view pictures, I was thinking, “Her breasts don’t look like they’re attached right.” I guess I’ll be doubling the size of my Tamaki collection pretty soon, but I think this will still be my favorite one among them. I ought to feel really dirty when I admire her on my shelf, but instead I feel peaceful and happy.

Ha, I am actually not a Redskins fan; quite the contrary, I’m a huge detractor and I’m always glad to see them stumble and bumble around. Their swinging gate field goal attempt from last year is one of my favorite Youtube videos, as is the interception that got fumbled and returned for a touchdown by a Saints wide receiver, and I like that Grossman fumble, too. On the other hand, I’m a 49ers fan, so it’s not like I can talk smack to anyone but a Cowboys fan.

  2. Shashin says:

I like the figure, and I agree with you on the ass. The eyes look very glossy. Doesn’t necessarily look bad, but it’s a shame you can’t capture how they’re supposed to look in photo form.

Interestingly enough, despite preordering a Tamaki figure several time, I’ve always ended up canceling them. Was just a few days ago that I ordered my first.

    • Tier says:

Which one did you get? I still have to order that one from BEAT, and while I know it’s going to blow, I don’t think I can stop myself.

I guess I probably shoulda moved the lights around more, maybe tried to light her from the side, maybe used a reflector to illuminate her face instead of a direct light. I put together this shoot really fast since I was hoping to review Ikaros this week, but she’s still in the mail and I like to stick to a four or five day period between posts.

      • Shashin says:

The Alphamax with her in chair. The hair looks a bit fake, as do the panties (but they’re meant to be cast off, obviously), but it was in the bargain bin, and I couldn’t resist the boobies. I also like the Four Leaves Kotobukiya set to drop in January, but I probably won’t be picking it up.

        • Ashlotte says:

          “I couldn’t resist the boobies.”

Should make that my signature…I feel like so many of my past purchases boiled down to this…While I’m reviewing some things I feel like “Why the hell did I get this…” oh yes…the boobies…

          • Tier says:

Indeed! I can’t resist them either. Or a girl in a thong. I’m holding out hope that Yamato’s crack at Fate Testarossa gives her suit the correct backside coverage.

        • Tier says:

Ah yeah, I remember that one. There’s a few things in the Amiami bargain bin that I wouldn’t mind getting but most of the stuff I really want I already have. I definitely coulda saved a lot of skrills if I had waited. Heh, I see Kurisu and Kureha are discounted now.

          • Shashin says:

Yeah, that seems to be the way the bargain bin works; figures you purchase are guaranteed to enter the bargain bin immediately after you receive them. Sasami is not reduced on Hobby Search, and it was added the day after I got the figure, as far as I could tell. Not that I could have canceled anyway, as it had been in stock since the beginning of the month.

  3. phossil says:

Wow pictures! I really like the mood and lightning of this set. 😉

  4. Ashlotte says:

Absolutely love the first few pictures! Although not crazy about the background (Looks almost like fire) the general color ambiance of them is superb! Goes well with her hair especially!

Haha funny you mentioned the fingers as thats what made me give up ordering her…Somewhat sad about that, but enough people like yourself have photographed her that I’m fairly satisfied as-is.

Ah but yea she is just a yummy little piece of plump perfection isn’t she…I tend to go towards the slender scale of beauty, but when its been rendered this lushly even I don’t mind this body type. The breasts would probably bother me more if she wasn’t holding them up like that but since they went that extra mile to really give them some feeling of heft and not some gravity defying garbage like most sculpts I give em a pass. :p

It is a damn shame Max doesn’t make more ecchi figures from Eroge…Native is a nice bit of perversion with the whole taking random hentai illustrations thing, but sometimes you just want a nice half-naked figure of a character you know and love ya? :p

    • Tier says:

Those fingers looked real bad, so bad that I was sure they’d be on the production version since I figured that if that was what they were showing, that was the best they could do. I’m glad they re-worked them. I’m also glad GSC re-worked Rin Tohsaka’s face so she doesn’t look quite so much like a Down syndrome patient. No offense to anyone who suffers from Down’s.

I do know this indeed! Castoff is nice but I like to see a figure meant to be displayed in her panties. I’m glad they didn’t half-ass this figure by giving her a removable blouse and skirt since that always compromises the sculpt.

I kinda wonder if MF will make some scale figures from the Sekirara thing they were doing. And I kinda wonder why the next Native figure looks more like a Kotobukiya figure than anything else.

      • Ashlotte says:

The hell…First I heard of this. Yea wait…what…That doesn’t even look like anything Native would ever make?

The body sculpt is meh…The character design looks like generic shit…And whats with all the clothes and cast-off?!? Really hope that ones a fluke…REALLY hope so…

One thing I hate about figures is cast-off. Like you said theirs always some compromise made either in the body or clothing sculpt…You tend to get mold lines in weird places…Its just silly. Either make a figure to be displayed half naked or not I say.

        • Shashin says:

I agree with that. The only good thing about cast off figures is the fun of undressing them the first time, to see the goods that might have been censored on production shots previously…. or am I the only one that enjoys that? >_>

I also hate that you generally have to tear off limbs to remove clothing. I didn’t know that was the industry standard with my first figure, which happened to have a cast off option for a gym shirt. The mold lines were beyond noticeable at the sides of the shirt, so I just figured that you remove it there. After a couple minutes of prying, I gave up with the bottom part of the shirt separated. I haven’t gone back to the figure to see if her head/arms pop off.

          • Ashlotte says:

This is why I always try to provide cast-off instructions in my reviews because some of them are just so god awfully convoluted…AlphaxOmega are one of the worst offenders when it comes to this (And Megahouse to a lesser extent).

No matter how well they try and hide it their will be seamlines in the clothes where they break and you will have some gaps where the body parts need to be removed.

The absolute only figure I own that avoids this is Kenshin and thats because her clothes are multi-layered and hide the seams…But then you have to figure she has all these beautifully sculpted lovingly crafted layers (That you payed a premium for I might add) of samurai armor and your going to just toss all that off for the cheap thrill of seeing her naked? Riiiight…that logic never worked on me well…

Bleh…cast-off…could spend all day writing hateful things about it… >_>

        • Tier says:

Yeah, I don’t really get why Native is rolling with this. It looks like it could be in their normal Max Factory line, except it looks kinda bad in those photos.

I’ve got a few figures that look good clothed and castoff, like Daiki’s miko Kanu and Velvet, and a bunch that don’t look great, like FREEing’s Senhime and Mirim. Though I’ll be honest, besides the lack of Irma and Itsuki Kannagi and Subaru (the Beat Blades Haruka ninja, not all the other Subarus) figures, the one thing in the scaled figure industry that I am most displeased by was Daiki Kougyou’s decision not to make 1/4 scale Saber castoff-able. I was hugely disappointed to learn that you basically need to rip her clothes off of her, and she doesn’t look nearly as good that way as in Cobra Kai’s original sculpt.

  5. Halbred says:

I don’t really like this figure, I mean, in terms of quality it’s top-notch, but the boob-squishing is wierd. I’ve been considering a Tamaki figure for awhile now. Amazon has a pretty good deal on the “Seduction” one (where she’s holding her bra up with her teeth). But again, buge hoobs. Also, don’t know what the wife would think of it.

Great photos, as always, sir. Whether or not I like the particular figure you’re reviewin’, I always like the photography.

    • Foehamr72 says:

I’m pleased to hear that I’m not the only one that has to think about my wife when picking out figures. There are several of the tamaki figures that find appealing, but…

      Also, great photo’s as always.

      • Tier says:

I got a friend who can’t display his ORI Dark Magician figure anymore since he got married, so she’s back in her box in his basement, alone and unloved in the dark. A real tragedy, that.

And thanks to you too XD

        • Calosoma / Deckard says:

Ye gods.. that’s a travesty. You can’t keep her in the dark. Just can’t. Make him watch the Toy Story movies series, and he’ll feel so guilty he’ll have to free her from the dark prison again :P.

      • Ashlotte says:

Meh could always try what I did…My sister moved in with me and she threw a slight tantrum at first, but I won her over by showing her mine and other peoples photography working the whole artistic angle of the argument…Worked like a charm!

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I think the boobs are too big for a lot of people; they’re almost too big for me. I guess that doesn’t really explain why I’m gonna get Beat’s Tamaki, though. And on that note, I notice that preorders have already closed on Hobby Search for the white swimsuit version, which is amazing. I guess I better stop procrastinating already.

And thanks for the compliment XD

      • Cantan says:

Purely on the subject of Beat, obviously there were bad reviews of their Chouun Shiryu. Have you seen any reviews of their Mizugi Kanojo by any chance. Only ask because the white variant is going very cheap at the moment and was wondering whether it was worth it.

        • Shashin says:

I can let you know this in a couple days; I couldn’t resist picking it up at about half price on Amiami. I had wanted the figure anyway, but Beat’s reputation and the steep price kept me away.

        • Tier says:

I haven’t seen any on any of the blogs I look at, but Akibahobby had pictures of the white swimsuit sample and blue swimsuit sample. I can’t say that I found them to be very enticing.

          • Shashin says:

Ouch, the way the swimsuit digs into the skin looks fairly terrible. At least there appear to be some pubes (painted, but still something I never would have expected from any figure.)

          • Tier says:

I have the feeling that’s what they expected would sell the figure. The rest of it looks pretty much like I expected, though.

          • Cantan says:

uh… yeah. Based on that I don’t think I’ll be buying anything of Beat’s anytime soon. Seriously, looks like they cast each part separately and then stuck it all together very badly. I can see that dropping further in price

          • Tier says:

Now I’m having second thoughts about that Tamaki figure. I guess I’ve got a couple of months to cancel her if my better judgment wins out in the end, but at least she’s not too expensive for a 1/6 scale figure.

        • Ashlotte says:

As someone who owns a beat figure and makes it a point to peruse reviews of as many figures as possible beat included…I would strongly recommend not getting anything they make at full price. >_>

          • Shashin says:

It was 9000 yen, which is still high for a figure, but I wanted it since I enjoyed the hentai anime…. still after seeing those reviews, I really regret adding her to my cart, 47% off or not. Most of my reviews are limited to Tier here; I know there’s a ton of other blogs that review figures, but he’s the only one of the few I’ve given a try that I enjoy reading. >_>

          • Cantan says:

Nevermind… at least the alligator looks good!

          • Tier says:

I’m glad you like this site XD You know, it’s kinda funny, I’ve noticed that the people who comment here usually don’t post on many or any other figure blogs. If you drew a web diagram of all the people who comment on figure blogs, this site would be off in its own happy little corner away from everyone else.

          • Shashin says:

Got it today, and my feelings are mixed. I think I like it more than I thought it would because I had such low expectations, so you may want to take this with a grain of salt and decide on your own.

The packaging is definitely very shoddy. No plastic window, just a fairly plain white box. Some production shots on one side, and a big print of the artwork on the other, which was kinda cool. Inside it’s encased in a block of styrofoam.

The figure is broken up into three parts: alligator, body, and pony tail. There’s a hole in the back of her head that the tail fits into; it fits in fairly firmly, though doesn’t look as good if they had just made it all one piece.

The lines in the photos taken above aren’t nearly as prominent on the actual figure; they’re still noticeable if you’re really looking, but it’s not anywhere near as bad as I was expecting.

One thing I do really like is the material used for the figure. It’s a bit hard to explain, but the skin tone is just cool. It doesn’t look like it’s painted on, and is almost translucent or something, without looking fake. I really can’t explain it, but I like it; I’ll try to setting up the figure later and taking a few shots to see if they can convey what I mean.

Details are mixed; don’t know if it was styrofoam or the white paint, but I had some flecks come off on my hands. The ponytail attachment is unpleasing when it’s off, but it looks okay when it’s on. Pubes are nice, if obviously painted, and there’s some nice other details; I do like the way they did the wet swimsuit. But there’s also some shoddy painting other places; little chunks of brown, or white/skin paint where there should be the other, but all figures can have that happen to them.

Overall, I’m glad I did pick it up, but I wanted the figure when it was first announced, so that may be clouding my judgement. It still is rather expensive for a figure. The alligator is cool, though I didn’t remove him from his bag. I’m moderately happy with my purchase; it’s by no means the best figure and it’s possible it may go down in price a bit more, but it’s not abysmally terrible like the review shots show. I guess it’s possible that every unit will differ, but I’m shocked that there’s so much difference… so I’ll definitely take some photos later on.

  6. MONOLITHIC says:

    Great pictures and review, Tier!

I have this figure as well as the wedding dress Tamaki (it was too “pretty” to pass up), but with all new figures I buy these days, it remains boxed… Probably THE COOLEST figure that arrived in the past week or so (from Hobbyfan) is the 1/4 scale Enterbay Bruce Lee, the lone dude in my collection. Great packaging and picture of Bruce on the box but I’ve yet to open it up to see what it actually looks like… I also collect boomboxes and I simply don’t have the space to properly display both of my hobbies. 🙁

    • Tier says:

Aww yeah, that’s a badass figure. I was really impressed by the promo pics. Pretty much the only reason I didn’t get it was, well, it’s a dude, and Enterbay can’t really do much about that.

That sounds like a fun hobby XD What sort of boomboxes, like ghetto blaster style boxes or those multi-deck single-unit systems? I remember my brother had this Akai boombox with dual cassette slots on the top deck, I thought that was awesome, till I got a Discman (or a Kenwood clone of one, anyway).

      • MONOLITHIC says:

Yeah, old school boxes like these:
        1

        2

        3

        4

        5

        6

        7

        8

      • MONOLITHIC says:

Whoa, in hindsight, I think I should’ve directed you to my Photobucket account instead… But anyway, I got into figure collecting a few years ago in order to add props to my boxes when I post pictures on a boombox forum, figuring that they’d look great together… So far, so good.

        • Tier says:

I went and edited your comment so that the links show up. Those look really cool XD Man they bring back some memories, too; when I was a little kid, I used to look through the AAFES catalog and they always had some cool electronics, like 386 computers and bunches of boomboxes. I always wanted one but I never got one; my brother had his Akai unit and my sister got a dual tape boombox, but I always got portable units … I had one of those yellow Sony Sports Walkman players and then that Kenwood CD player.

That boombox behind Eve is hardcore. I like the vintage look of those units. It makes me feel really old to think that I grew up listening to tapes and then CDs, and there’s probably a whole generation of kids now who don’t know what tapes are and probably barely know what an audio CD is.

          • MONOLITHIC says:

            Much appreciated! 🙂

I used to carry boxes back in the mid/late 80’s, had “Do The Right Thing” type boombox battles and all that stuff… Funny that I stopped carrying before that movie came out and started rocking portable cassette players in late ’88, portable CD players in the early/mid 90’s, portable MD players in the late 90’s, and iPods now…

Wish I could get my hands on some of those old catalogs… They would make for interesting conversation on the boombox forum I’m a member of.

Depending on the model and condition, if your brother and sister still had those boxes and wanted to sell ’em, they could probably get some good money for ’em on eBay. Boombox collecting can be a VERY expensive hobby, even more so than figure collecting. Some boxes can sell for as much as $2000… I wonder if 20+ years from now if can get that kind of cash for some of these figures I own…

Yeah, that gold Technisonic Conion TC-999 is probably my favorite looking box in my collection and took me 23 years to cop… To see it in its heyday, copy and paste this in the YouTube search engine: LL Cool J – I Can’t Live Without My Radio (Soul Train).mp4

          • Tier says:

Unfortunately, those boxes are gone, I think we gave them away or junked them when we moved to the United States. I’m not sure if they were in working condition at the end, though I’m guessing there are a lot of people skilled at repairing old audio equipment. Yeah, I’m kinda wondering about the value of my figure collection; there’s a few I’d like to sell off for spare cash and also to make some room, since I’m just about out of space now.

Man, I was a bit too young to remember LL back then, but I started listening to music right between Mama Said Knock You Out and 14 Shots to the Dome, and that video makes me think back to the early 90s, when I start listening to the Native Tongues groups, Dre after NWA and before he started selling laptop computers, Jazzmatazz … I think I’ll queue up Mecca & The Soul Brother in the playlist today.

  7. Calosoma / Deckard says:

    Great review, Tier!

I especially love the color of her skin, and the shading. Her skin almost looks real, where you could touch her and feel warmth rather than cold PVC. Kinda scary actually.

I also think her boobs are too big and squishy besides. I actually think they detract from the figure, and distract everyone from seeing all of her other well defined curves that you were actually able to find while writing this review.

I have a similar problem with Kotobukiya’s Kokoro PVC figure. Everyone at work who looks at her on my desk comments, stares, and tries to fondle her boobs. But they don’t see how gorgeous her eyes, and face are, nor how amazingly perfect the rest of her figure is sculpted, due to this distraction.

    • Tier says:

Thanks! Haha, yeah, Kokoro is pretty racked too, I guess it’s a good thing that Kotobukiya didn’t give her squishy boobs. I’ve got a couple of figures with squishy boobs and I hear there is a reasonably popular Dollfie Dream accessory that provides for 1/3 scale squishy boobs. It’s a good thing such a thing is not available for the vmf50 dolls I have cuz that would just be, you know, perverted. <.<

  8. Fabienne says:

Oh she’s scaled 1/6 ,I’m actually looking for a figure of this size as desk mascot 😉
the shading looks great, honestly her body and skin are looking so soft that I wanna touch her XD

The face is beautiful with this kind expression and the soft blushmarks.
Im a big fan of figures which have a glossy finish at the eyes.
It adds much more liveliness to them.
Well Im not really into big boobed figures and I dont know why Max Factory gave her such massive boobs, I watched some To heart OVA’s where she had smaller ones.
nevertheless on holisitc view this Tamaki looks so nice, that Im not really bothered by her boobs.
I like the curves of this Tamaki figure a lot.

your pictures never stop to delight me, she looks so good in tamaki-kousaka-01.jpg,
    tamaki-kousaka-02.jpg and tamaki-kousaka-14.jpg.

When I saw the prototypes I couldn’t believe how big they made them. Tamaki is pretty big-breasted but as you say, I don’t think they’re quite this big. Looking at Kotobukiya’s upcoming samurai Tamaki and magician Manaka figures, I think Manaka’s breasts are larger than Tamaki’s.

Tamaki makes for a pretty nice desk ornament XD She’s big but doesn’t take up a lot of space since she doesn’t need a base to stay upright.

I do not owned her. So, I can’t comment much about the eyes.

But from all the photos which I’ve seen out there. Man… she does have a great piece of ass. I like how her panties cling tightly to her ass cheeks. It gives an impression that the panties is kinda small for her which in turn makes her look even sexier. 🙂

One particular issue that turns me off would be her overly large breasts. Those definitely look more like melons being spread out. Despite that, she has an angelic face, the innocent look on her face makes most guys out there wanting to own her (I believe).

Also, you pointed out her fingers condition in the prototype photo. I’m so glad that they actually made it more life-like than melding them together. 🙂

PS: I like the first four photos very much. The mood and settings are excellent! Great photography!

    • Tier says:

Her ass is spectacular XD I love the tiny panties she’s wearing, especially how you can’t see them from above. Yeah, I like her hands now, the look very nice, folded like that. And thanks for the kind words XD

  10. Phil says:

Well those oppai can be used for pillows lol.

Now granted, the skins made horrible decisions. But look at the cowboys. i rest my case.
The Skins suck because they let EVERY FRIGGIN WIN GO TO THEIR HEADS. God, it gets disgusting. If Portis and Cooley would just never get on ESPN and rant again, they would have a much more consistent record.

    • Tier says:

Indeed they can! Big, soft, and appealing they are.

Yeah, the Cowboys are pretty funny to watch too. As are the 49ers and their 29-year old overlord and flip-flopping, trouser-dropping head coach. As is my college team; no team knows how to run a fake punt or draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty like my alma mater. Man, that was one epic beatdown last night, though. I don’t really like the dogslayer much – and I’ll be honest, that’s more because of where he went to school than what he did – but that was one bigtime thrashing he delivered.

  11. Chag says:

Bah, I somehow missed this review. Not really surprised, since last week was a bloody mess of game addiction.

For some reason, Tamaki’s breasts don’t register as such in my brain. I only see her squeezing a flesh-coloured pillow. Maybe my head is still screwy from the all-nighter yesterday, but she’s not even looking all that naked right now. It might have something to do with the lack of contrast in her colour scheme. Or maybe I’ve gone bonkers. I suspect the latter.

Before I type anything more stupid, I gotta say: I absolutely love the soft shadows on these shots. She looks like she’s made of delicious marshmallows. Yum yum.

    • Tier says:

What the hell 🙁 You’ve forsaken me for the call of duty 🙁 At least, I think Call of Duty is out; it is out, right? I ought to try one of those games one of these days, I keep hearing about them and I have no idea at all what makes them so popular.

It’s quite possible that you’ve lost your brains. Or maybe you’ve just gotten so inured to seeing naked plastic fleshy bits that it doesn’t even faze you anymore. I know it’s happened to me. On a completely unrelated note, if you want to see something funny, search “vmf50” on Google Images with SafeSearch turned off. I know I think the results are hilarious.

      • Chag says:

Do you like multiplayer shooters in general? If so, it’s definitely worth checking out. If not, it’s probably not going to change your mind. And if you don’t know, then Black Ops is probably the best place to start, since all the 12-year-old kids are playing the flavour of the month, which makes the competition less harsh.

Congratulations — you have single-handedly butchered the image of Yamato’s dolls — and that’s saying something, considering they’re hooker dolls to begin with. I can imagine a prospective buyer typing vmf50 into image search and getting an eyeful of your handiwork. Nothing makes a first impression quite like a bondage harness and bladed tentacles.

        • Tier says:

Hmm, nope, can’t say I do. Well, I like shooters, but I don’t like the multiplayer aspect too much. Back when I played Warcraft, I went to extraordinary efforts to not have to interact (or even communicate) with people. And at my age, I think those little kids would kick my ass; my reflexes are so bad now.

I’m hoping that’s exactly what happens XD I wonder if anyone from Yamato might ever Google their own products and see my pictures come up?

  12. Wolfheinrich says:

Good review, but I hate the alpha female Tamaki so haha XD

    • Tier says:

Haha, yeah, I got the feeling that I wouldn’t like her character quite so much if I were more familiar with the To Heart franchise. I think that’s one of the reasons I like this figure so much, her more aggressive side doesn’t show up here.

  14. Great photos – the soft lighting really help accent Tamaki’s body and makes her skin look soft. I really like the recent Max Factory figures, the quality is really good. Looks like they took a similar approach to the skin shading here as they did on that real image Yoko Rittona (albeit a bit more heavy handed).

I initially didn’t pay much attention to this figure, I was kind of put off by the extremely large breasts. I’m glad the figure came out great though! Not on my list of figures to get though, I think I already have too many Tamaki figures and I really don’t know why that is. lol

    • Tier says:

I’m certain you aren’t the only one, I’d have liked her breasts to be a little bit smaller, which is not a sentiment that I often hold. I’ve got a couple more Tamaki figures preordered, and I gotta admit that there’s one or two more that I like that I don’t have. But first I need to buy more Fate Testarossa figures; I don’t nearly have enough of her in my collection.

  15. armorknight says:

To Heart 2 is one of my favorite series because it’s full of submissive and sexy girls. Tamaki is one of the bitchy girls, of course, but she is hot as fucking hell. What I wouldn’t give to fuck her into my personal sex slave.

    • Tier says:

That sounds promising; for a franchise so pervasive with respect to merchandise, I know very little about the source, particularly the girls other than the ones that get the most figures. And I agree, Tamaki is definitely hot as hell.

Hello, sorry to bother you again on another post, but I really like looking at all the different figures you show! I’ve been having an issue with deciding which is the better Tamaki figure: Kotobukiya Tamaki panic mode figure or (this one) Max factory Tamaki figure? They’re both beautifully done, but I have no idea which one would be a “must buy” for a collector. I know both companies are high quality with their figures, so it’s really hard to decide which one would be a better purchase. I’ve only just started a collection of figures and I’m kinda new with it (well I wouldn’t say new- I have a couple of figures now, but I never thought of creating a collection till recently). I hope to see more of your posts! Keep on at it!

    • Tier says:

Both of them look really good but I like this one better, mainly because I like the sweet, angelic look on her face. I do not own the Panic version figure but it looks really cute, too, and might be a little easier to find on the secondary market. I don’t think you could go wrong with either (or the big 1/4 scale Gift figure; Tamaki has a lot of nice figures).

      • Sarah says:

Okay! Thanks! I’m considering to buy both, but as of this moment Kotobukiya Tamaki is first on my list. Thank you for the advice ^.^

The Max factory Tamaki looks so cute- I like this one alittle more too because of how inncoent she looks.

        • Tier says:

I am glad to be of help! Yeah, Tamaki looks really sweet here. Which is a bit odd, I guess, since from what I know of her, she’s more of an aggressive alpha female than a sweet, gentle girl, but Tamaki seems to be one of those characters where her personality isn’t as important as her visual appearance.

          • Sarah says:

Yeah, it’s true! It seems that it’s essential for every collector to own a Tamaki in their collection!
It’s strange because every collection I’ve seen so far has atleast 2 or 3 Tamaki figures in them. So, I guess I should try to get one as well to get into the spirit of things (and to spend all my money- who needs it anyway…haha ^o^’).
Thanks so much for all your help by the way!

  18. Tier says:

I do know of a few collectors who refuse to buy any sort of Tamaki XD I like Tamaki, though. Or at least, I like how she looks; I don’t really know much about her beyond common knowledge.

    • Sarah says:

Sorry for the late reply >.<
Really? That's too bad. I mean, what's there not to like? She's cute and sexy all at the same time! Honestly, I don't know much about her either- only that she's from the To Heart2 anime and she is a big sister type to many of the other girls in the anime (how the heck do I even know this? xD). Other than that, I have no clue about her!
Oh, and I am finally getting Max factory's Tamaki! A fellow MFC member is selling her to me and she's in the mail now. I'm very excited ^O^ She seemed like one of those figures that are almost impossible to find for a decent price. Thanks for the recommendation 😀

      • Tier says:

I think some people don’t like her aggressive personality and some people don’t like her body shape. I can understand the first reason but I don’t understand the second quite as much.

Hoorays! She does seem to be hard to find, even though there are so many Tamaki figures out there. This one is definitely one of the best though, if not the very best of them all.
