Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (Cobra Kai Version)

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

One day back in June, I woke up and went through my normal morning routine: brush my teeth, make lunch, and shut down every emotion but rage and spite in preparation for the drive to work. Before heading out the door, I checked my e-mail, checked Statcounter, and loaded up Moeyo. Then I saw this figure. Treasure Festa was in full swing and Cobra Kai was showing off their rendition of Fate T. Harlaown. It looked so unusual that I had to think for a moment whether I liked it or not – Toshirou’s sculpts are sort of eccentric, and they’re not something that everyone is gonna love. I’ve got a couple of his figures – chained-up Kanu and gangsta lean Saber – and I like them a lot, so I decided that this version of Fate was pretty dang cool. Plus, Toshirou’s circle is called Cobra Kai. How cool is that, that they named themselves after the villains that brutalized Daniel-san? Sweep the leg … do you have a problem with that?

I get to work and load up Moeyo again to take another look at the pictures. I run the page through an auto-translator which isn’t helpful in the least, and while I still have no idea how big she is, I could tell that she’s pretty damn big. Cobra Kai likes the big size, and I figure that she’s at least 1/6 scale, maybe even 1/4 like their Ryomou Shimei kit. I’m like, “Cool,” and then I close the page. They don’t mass-manufacture their kits, so I figure my best bet is for Daiki Kougyou to do a PVC version, and I think there’s a decent chance of that. After all, they’re crazy; who would’ve thought that Toshirou’s Saber would ever see a mass-market version? Or for that matter, who would’ve imagined that they’d put out a 1/4 scale figure with realistically-sculpted genitalia back at a time when both 1/4 scale figures and plastic labia were unthinkable?

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Then I foolishly type in – well, copy and paste – Cobra Kai’s name into Yahoo Japan Auctions. And I see a listing for this figure. Someone’s gotten their hands on it, painted it, and assembled it! Or that’s what the listing seems to say, anyway. So I’m sitting there thinking to myself, “Damn.” Gotta think how much I like this figure. I mean, it’s a bit odd-looking. And it’s pretty ‘spensive. And there’s a decent chance Daiki Kougyou’ll pick it up. Now I gotta make a decision: do I let this slide or do I hit up my favorite shopping service in Japan? I’m not big on making decisions, you know; I’m more of a go-with-the-flow kinda guy. (You mean you’re a pussy.) Hey, hey, ain’t no call for vulgarity now, is there?

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Anyway, so I gotta think this over. I gotta check the funds. I gotta see whether Daiki Kougyou’s showing any sign of picking this up. I’m even thinking about flipping an e-mail their way, in English and all, asking them if this is in their plans. I’m sure they’d just laugh at the dumb gaijin, though. I’m looking at the pictures and I’m like, “Man, this is really cool.” I’m wondering if it’s authentic, but it says, “All our exhibits use the regular article which they purchased by events.” Sounds authentic to me! I’m wondering if it’s preassembled and prepainted, but I guess the pictures ought to confirm that. Now I just gotta decide how bad I want it. I need some help. I need some advice. I need someone to tell me that this is the right thing to do. (For chrissake, just bid on the goddamn thing already. Jesus.) Well, that ain’t no Jimmy V, but hell, you put it that way, it’d almost be apostasy not to do it, wouldn’t it?

So I type up an e-mail and send it off to my buyer asking him to bid, and I’m thinking, I gotta be crazy, man, I gotta be insane. I’m nuttier than Nutella. I’m on some next level stuff; I’m toked up, straight blazed, high as a kite. ‘Scuse me while I kiss this guy.

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Then it’s Sunday, I should be relaxing, making the most of the weekend, but I can’t. The auction ends this morning and I’m up early, giving the F5 key a workout. And then my worst fear comes true; some motherfucker is contesting the bid. I’m like, “Aww hell no” and I’m like, “asdfdsklfj.” At this moment, I hate everyone in Japan. I check my bank balance again.

On the other hand, this gives me an out. Maybe it’s not meant to be, maybe I ought to cash out and save my money for another day. But that ain’t the way I operate. So I open up the e-mail and tap out a message telling my guy in Japan to up my bid. And I’m hoping to myself that he’s there, looking out for me, that he ain’t on the couch watching the Japanese equivalent of Leno with a can of warm Calpis. So now I’m tabbing back and forth, refreshing both the auction and my e-mail. I ain’t supposed to be this stressed on a Sunday, but then my guy hits me back saying, “Let’s win this thing,” and I’m all up like Flavor Flav going, “Yeeaaaaahhh boyeeeee!

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

So now my bid’s jacked up and I’m thinking, “Ain’t no way this guy is coming back.” That’s the way to do it – strike hard, strike fast, no mercy. I see the bid increase but I know this guy ain’t got the balls to go as high as I will. I watch the minutes and then the seconds tick down and then the auction ends and I’m the winner. Get him a bodybag, yeah! What, what, punk?!? TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW, YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD!

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Now to play the waiting game, and I’m worried that Fate’s gonna arrive in pieces. Or that it’s gonna turn out that I actually bid on a model kit that’ll arrive in unpainted pieces. When you’ve spent a lot of time bidding on stuff whose descriptions you can’t read, though, you get used to this. Not to change the subject or anything but I bet proxy buyers got some great stories about what sorts of things their customers order. I kinda wonder what they think when you ask them to buy something like this. Or a pornographic pillowcase. Me, in their place, I’d probably just be thinking, “Cha-ching!”

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

So she gets here and to my amazement, she’s intact with nothing snapped off. Praise Hojo! I pull her out and man, she is huge. 38.5 centimeters tall not counting base or sword, 50 centimeters counting everything. She’s 1/4 scale for true – God’s scale. She’s got this nifty lucite base with her picture and her name – her original name, not that goofy-sounding Harlaown thing. Paint looks sharp and solid, everything seems as it should be. Well, mostly. One of her hair tails is a bit loose, but I think I can fix that with some glue. Hand’s a bit wobbly, but same deal, I can fix that, ain’t no thang but a chicken wang.

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown and Volks Fate T. Harlaown

Put her up against Volks’s figure and she crushes her in size. Alter’s Fate T. Harlaown is closer, though she’s still pint-sized compared to Toshirou’s sculpt. Bardiche is about the same size, though, which just shows how ridiculous it is with Alter’s figure. Cobra Kai’s Fate can actually swap in Alter’s Bardiche without a hitch.

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Man I like this sculpt. It’s different, for sure. Very nice chest, I like the way her nipples are perky, standing proud, as they should be. I’m liking her curves, they probably won’t be everyone’s favorite, but I like them just the same. (Man, just say it, she’s got the boom.) What? (She’s fat.) Dammit, dude, you ain’t got to put it that way. (No, no, seriously, that ain’t a bad thing, I mean, I bet you needed a new wide angle to fit her in the picture, right?) What the hell? (Hey, any excuse to get new gear, right?) You’re a real fucking asshole, you know that? (Always happy to oblige, man.) I think you and I are done talking. (Hey, no, wait –)

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Anyways, like I said, I dig the sculpt. And I like the paint job. The guy who put this together and painted it kinda went his own route instead of trying to replicate Toshirou’s eyes; Toshirou gives his figures a heavy-lidded look, it’s sort of his signature, but it’s not too evident here. However, the guy did a real nice job giving Fate’s outfit a transparent effect, just like the original model. Overall, I got to give props to the builder, he definitely did a great job with everything.

コブラ会 フェイト・T・ハラオウン by 唐詩郎氏 from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

Speaking of the dude who completed this figure, he also did this Black Rock Shooter figure. It’s in 1/6 scale, and it looks pretty nice. You don’t want to know how much it went for.

Cobra Kai Fate T. Harlaown from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Review

It took a bit of trouble to acquire Fate, but I’m happy to have her, particularly since it seems like Daiki Kougyou gots no intention of doing a PVC version any time soon. A guy asked on Cobra Kai’s BBS whether there was a chance of a completed version and Toshirou responded, “Fate is the sale of finished goods, so far no plan … No offers from our manufacturer (crying). Even that broad-minded Daiki Kougyou (tears)” Or something like that. So there we go, straight from the man hisself. Shame on Daiki Kougyou for making him cry. Me, I’m happy; I only cry when I check my bank statement, and only just a little.

haha reading this post gave me some laughs, very well written
I nearly show the same spirit like you when it comes to auctions ;D
The paintjob of Fate looks really good, ok she seems a bit out of shape from frontal view but I like her face with the detailed painted eyes, the hair looks also very good.

I especially hate to lose Yahoo Japan auctions. Or rather, I think I would hate to lose them; I don’t know how I’d react because I haven’t lost one yet. One of the buying services I use requires payment up front, so I always set my maximum bid way above what I think the item will sell for. This also ensures that I know I really, really want an item.

I had a lot of fun writing this one, I’m glad you found it funny XD

      • Cantan says:

        A little artistic license perchance?
Don’t make me quote the opening line to your Keumaya Violet review back to you… tut tut tut.

Nice enough figure, but it’s funny – that looks remarkably similar to the newly announced Daiki… (ok, couldn’t resist)

        • Tier says:

Oops, I guess I did lose a YJA auction. I forgot about that one because I used SMJ to bid and they don’t require an up-front payment. And also because I’ve got Violet on the high shelf laying on her side while I think up some way to have her stand upright without her base falling over.

    • radiant says:

I have to admit, that writing style was rather interesting too…

What gave you the idea to write like that? :O

      • Tier says:

I like to do weirdo writeups every now and then. I started doing them not long after I started this site, with Exelica’s review. I think it gets pretty dry, writing about paint quality and smears and seam lines and whatever all the time, and the pictures do a better job of showing a figure’s quality, anyway. I had most of this writeup written in my head back in June, right after I won the auction; it’s largely inspired by the writing styles of a couple of ESPN Page 2 writers whose work I admire (Ralph Wiley and Bill Simmons). I’d like to do more writeups in a humorous style, though I suppose they might be less useful for review purposes.

I am loving your asshole imaginary friend. What’s his name? =P

    • Tier says:

He definitely ain’t my Common Sense, that bastard would’ve told me to take that money and max out my 401k contribution and put the rest in a boring-ass Roth IRA or something. This guy would say something different. (Dude, two words for you: Fish. Eye. You gotta pick the lens that brings out your subject’s best side, right?) Dammit, get back in there. (What? No, stop –)

      • Chag says:

$850? Shiiiiiiit. When Tier wants something, he sure doesn’t fuck around, does he?

By the way, I’m loving the new threaded format of the replies! Took you long enough to implement it =P

        • Tier says:

It has to be something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get ever again. There’s a ton of stuff I want that I’m not willing to fork out the skrills for. Like a PS3. I’ve still got a shrinkwrapped copy of Valkyria Chronicles somewhere around here but no console to play it on. I’ve got no trouble regularly dropping a couple benjamins on a figure, but I’m too cheap to get a Playstation.

Yeah, I know, I’ve been wanting to get threaded comments running for over a year but I was too lazy and clueless to update my old theme. I still need to renovate the review archive page, it’s way too long to comfortably scroll through.

  4. sora says:

    you are really lucky ,
i searched for her too , but I could only find kits
maybe you could tell me the seller from YJA ( maybe he does a second one )
would be really nice ,if I could get her aswell
btw. how much did she cost in the end ?
and thanks for the great review

    • Tier says:

I bought it from kiyomo2006. He recently painted a Black Rock Shooter that sold for a crazy price for a 1/8 scale figure (though not nearly as crazy as the one I linked above).

My winning bid was like 55k yen. I think the total price came out to around $850. Which is also kinda crazy.

  5. Halbred says:

Not liking this figure as much as the Alter or even Volks models, which are both more dynamic than this one. Bigger, sure, but the flaws just stand out more to me. Specifically, I can’t stand the way her legs attach to the body. It just looks wrong somehow–not fat–just like the head of her femur is like six inches long.

Seriously, the legs are killing this figure for me.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, the hips look pretty wide and sorta low-slung. I figured that’d be the biggest point of contention for a lot of people; it took me a while to decide I didn’t mind them.

I’ve got another gigantic figure with thick thighs and a huge backside next up in the review queue. On top of all that, she’s bald XD Stay tuned!

  6. here-and-faraway says:

Congratulations! And as always, thanks for the post!

  7. Marcucho says:

Wooow! gorgeus body!! i didnt know about this figure but she is very nice!!

The post made me laugh very much jajajaja

    Excellent figure!!

    • Tier says:

I tried to do something different for this review, I think it’s a lot funnier than what I usually do. I ought to write posts like this more often, there’s only so much you can say about a figure that the pictures don’t do a better job of describing.

      • Marcucho says:

jajajajajajajaja completely agree with you tier jajaja

        -“Yeeaaaaahhh boyeeeee!”- hahahahajajajajaja^.^

        Saludos!

  8. super rats says:

Awesome post. I haven’t done auctions of any kind since like 2000, but I remember it drove me crazy. Staying up or waking early.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, that stuff drives me nuts, in both real life and back when I played World of Warcraft. I’m not a very confrontational kind of guy (pretty much the only time I precipitate confrontation is on the road, when some dork is driving really slowly) and I don’t like engaging in bidding wars. It’s particularly annoying on YJA since I usually have to pay up front and I’ll have to want something really badly if I’m going to resort to using a proxy.

  9. Phil says:

lol awesome review. $850 is not that bad really. i mean Dolfie prices are far more ridiculous. I would weep tears if Volks ever released an official Miku Hatsune Dolfie. I know I would be stupid to actually pay the $2,500 or so to get it XD
Also fate has a bangin body. Thick girls for the win!

    • Tier says:

Yeah, when I was looking for this figure, I came across a few Fate Dollfies and I couldn’t even do the mental currency conversion right away because I seldom see prices that high for the stuff I shop for. The 1/6 scale BRS figure cost even more, I think that auction ended at around 85k yen. If GSC ever went the Daiki Kougyou route and did a large-sized PVC Black Rock Shooter as an exorbitantly-priced, limited edition, boutique-style item, I don’t think they’d have a problem selling them out.

Indeed! Her body sculpt kinda reminds me of the character designs from La Pucelle. Toshirou always has a distinctive and very unconventional vision when he sculpts his figures.

  10. The Endless General says:

Excellent acquisition, I don’t think i’d spend $850 on a figure but that’s me. I actually just recently started my figure collection (in the last year or so) largely based on figures you’ve collected. I started with Daiki Kogyou’s 1/6 scale Kanu and never looked back. I’d love this one, but 850 is a little steep for my budget.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, it’s not something I would do very often; I’ve only done it a couple times, for this figure and for Volks’s Kenshin. Though to be honest, there’s this doll I want that runs something well over what I paid for Fate here and I’m trying to figure out how I can squeeze it into my budget.

I’m glad my reviews have helped you out XD

  11. The Endless General says:

They have indeed : ) Funny story about price: I recently got an email from E2046 telling me their 1/4 scale Kos Mos (the one you have) was back in stock. Of course I immediately pre-ordered, only to be sent an email a day later to tell me it was a mistake, and that it wasn’t available. Needless to say, I was irritated by this. Then lo and behold, they sent me another email a day later to tell me that THAT was an error, and that it was in fact in stock. Not only that, but that I got the last one in stock. I’m not gonna lie, I did a little victory dance for that one lol. Apart from that, I recently acquired GSC’s Saber Triumphant Excalibur before presale closed, and currently have the highest bid on a Saber Lily on eBay that’s selling for about $100 less than most other listings. Here’s to hoping nobody outbids me, three days to go!

    • Tier says:

Haha, yeah, that’s always a good feeling, when there’s something you really want and you get the last one. I’m pretty sure I got the last Yamato vmf50 doll on HLJ; the funny thing is, HLJ’s product page still shows up as the first hit in Google if you search for “vmf50.”

Good luck with that auction! Saber Lily is a great figure, I’ve been thinking about re-shooting her since she deserves a superlative photo set, and I think mine is really lacking.

  12. The Endless General says:

I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to negotiate YJA. I’ve attempted to navigate it a few times before retreating in fear lol. On a related note, it makes me really sad that nobody’ll pick this up…….she really does have the “Boom”.

    • Tier says:

Shopping Mall Japan has a good graphical tutorial that explains the listing layout and identifies all the important parameters in the auction. I use Google Translate to try to read the item description; usually you need to make inferences to figure out what they say (you may also be able to ask your proxy service to translate something that you can’t interpret). I am completely Japanese-illiterate so I just copy and paste search terms from Wikipedia articles, the character pages on MyFigureCollection, or the Japanese version of Hobby Search.

There might still be a chance that Daiki Kougyou’ll pick it up; they do a lot of weird figures and it took them over a year to decide to produce Cobra Kai’s 1/4 scale Saber in PVC form.

  13. haha, looks like you’ve levelled up. Still, 55k yen doesn’t sound too bad for a painted kit, and 1/4 scale at that! If only the exchange rates were working for you, eh? Next thing you know, you’ll be buying the kits loose and getting painters to do them up for you!!
Cobra-Kai is a bit of a hit or miss group for me. Wasn’t much of a fan of this particular fate, I think I’ve seen better ones out there. I do love that custom base though! And I must admit that I did like their recent Hatsune Miku and normally I hate Miku (I hate BRS as well, but that’s a different story)

Just finished a massive purchase order myself. 4 garage kits coming my way soon, for a sum of just over 100,000 yen total. Can’t wait for them to get here though!!

    • Tier says:

I’m really, really interested in all public statements by the Bank of Japan and Naoto Kan these days. I can’t even remember those great times when the dollar went for 120 yen.

Yeah, I view Cobra Kai similarly; well, maybe not so much “hit-or-miss” as “I may or may not like this.” I was surprised as hell to learn that the bunny suit Haruhi Suzumiya was a Cobra Kai sculpt; I’d only ever seen Toshirou’s sculpts, I didn’t even know the other guy was a sculptor. In fact, I still don’t know his name (it looks like it’s spelled YZJ or something).

Man, next thing I know, I’ll be getting an airbrush and giving model buliding a shot. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, ever since I saw Cody Kwok’s custom Kirika. I’ve got a bunch of kits here – they’re all recasts but I figure I’d rather butcher a recast than a legit kit while I’m learning, since I’m sure my first few builds are going to end disastrously. I’m keeping an eye on YJA for a couple kits that I’ve been looking for, though.

That sounds like a great haul, I’m guessing some of Volks’s recent stuff comprises part of that?

  14. Tier says:

    >> Chag
Here I go again posting at the end of the comments list because I’ve got comments set to go to a maximum of five deep. Anyways … hmm, if I got a PS3, I ‘d probably get Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, since I never beat it on the 360 (don’t think I got past the third or fourth level, actually) and I’d like to take control of the girls’ boobs. I mean, play as the other characters. Apart from that … gee, I dunno, I’d probably use it as a Blu-ray player, I’m guessing tentacles look mighty fine in 1080p. At any rate, I’ve got such a colossal game backlog that I don’t know if I can justify a PS3 even if I did have a ton of money laying around here.

    • softz says:

That darn agreement that makes Ninja Gaiden 2 to be exclusive on PS3. Who cares about Ryu, we want Rachel , Ayane and Momiji. 🙂

      • Tier says:

That’s what I’m saying. I mean, I like Ryu, he’s cool and a badass and all – but Rachel, Ayane and Momiji are cool and badass and have breasts. These things are all important.

Speaking of Ayane, I’m making another attempt to unlock her pole dance sequence in DOAX2. It’s slow going so far, though.

  15. Wolfheinrich says:

Every time I stop by, every post I read here reminds me that I really should come here more often then I should! I like that YJA fight, as I have done so countless time myself! The fight over Dollfie Dream Kiriha was just about as heated as you have described here. I have had my share of wins and loses; in one such occasion, I was snipped by another SMJ user with bidding war, one of the most unpleasant loses I ever had (though luckily, I was bidding on that auction for someone else). Congrats on the latest acquisition, she looking gorgeous, even though she looks a bit unusual!

    • Tier says:

Getting beat out by someone else using a proxy would annoy the hell out of me, since you’ve got to really want something to use a proxy service and I would get pissed if someone else’s lust and fortitude were more manly than mine. Not to mention that since for big-ticket items, I use a service that requires payment up front, so that’d mean a ton of my money would be locked up with my buyer, unless I wanted to eat the 5% Paypal charge. (Note to self: change SMJ account to credit card authorization.)

Hey, the guy I got this figure from has a Love is War Miku up for sale. Skin tone looks sorta pale but I’m guessing the bidding is going to be nuts for this figure. Hmm, she really loses a lot without that crazy base she always gets shown with.

  16. softz says:

Yay!!! You’ve got yourself that big ass and perky nipples. *LOL* I’m sure the victory over that matha-facka punk puts your ego at top notch. 🙂 Pretty interesting chat with fish-eye… Wooppss.. that’s you *LOL* On the frank side, the paint-job is definitely great, viewing from the photos. Once again, Tier never fail to amaze us with his buying power. 😉

    • Tier says:

It does! I felt like lighting up a cigar and kicking back with a stiff drink, except for my whole thing about not smoking and being too cheap to buy such beverages.

All my alter-egos are assholes, I wonder what that says about me as a whole.

  17. archigram says:

    Is that a rain coat?

  18. Ashlotte says:

    Late as always I am…

Ah well swank acquisition there Tier!

Now I don’t feel so bad about dropping 350 on the one hand assembled GK I own…Thanks! :p

  19. Still that is one awesome piece! Sometime you just have to go with the nuttiness and buy it!

  20. BioToxic says:

My mind has been blown by the price of this figure.

She looks great though. Even if she is not to my taste I can appreciate the beauty of such a figure. Getting a hand painted figure from a skilled artist is an amazing addition to any collection.

    • Tier says:

I gotta admit, I’ve been kinda wondering if something’s wrong with me, since I know I ought to be more fazed by this expense. It’s all good to me though, getting really rare stuff is part of the fun, I think.

Still no bids on that Love is War Miku! I wonder what everyone is waiting for.

      • Ashlotte says:

Probably because unlike what you bought everyones well aware that a PVC version is coming that will also have the nifty base. :p

        • Tier says:

Indeed! Well, I guess there’s eighteen hours left for anyone to put in a bid, as of this writing. I’m wondering if the PVC version is gonna run more than what that prebuilt model figure is gonna sell for, assuming someone does bid.

  21. DaSaru says:

LOL reading the story reminds me of the bidding war my proxy and I were in..

I like Toshirou style. I don’t like Fate..but this looks too cool. Dat Ass says it all.

Wonder if that bidder againts you reads your site..:P

    • Tier says:

Man, that’d be great. It’d also be cool if the seller comes across this post. I gotta imagine he’d be like, “What the hell?” if he found out his figure is now in the possession of some American dude on the other side of the planet.

  22. Great write up, was definitely a fun read! This place is never boring. =)
I can relate to liking to lose at the auctions, I’m kinda like that as well. I’ve bid on some things at stupid prices before just so I can win. But when you win, man it feels good (until you’re reminded of the bank statement). LOL Oh well, everything is well again when you look at what you won.

Thise Fate is definitely different and adds some new flavour to the existing Fates, although I’m not sure if I’m too keen on this particular adaptation. Whoever build this figure though, mad props to him – looks amazing!

Now the curious part is how much did this thing set you back?! LOL

    • Tier says:

Thanks! I need to think of another figure I can do a funny writeup on. I was thinking about doing one for MF’s Tamaki Kousaka (which I’ve got to get around to photographing, since she’s one of my favorite figures of the year), but I’m not sure that I can pull it off without being too corny, so I may have to settle for a conventional, boring writeup.

Victory is all that matters. And striking hard, striking fast, no mercy. I just bought a bunch of doll stuff off Yahoo and it’s sorta amazing that I’m willing to drop that much money on that sort of thing, being that I really, really need to get new shoes for myself already.

You should scroll up to see the price! A few people have already expressed a certain amount of amazement.

      • Just read what I wrote earlier, I meant I know what you mean about NOT liking to lose.. lol missed a key word there. =P

But yeah, just scrolled up and saw the price.. WOW. And I thought I spend too much on some figures.

You probably still do! And so do I. I spend too much on hobby stuff as it is. Not that I have anything else to spend it on; I don’t like traveling all that much, I seldom eat out, I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, or gamble, and I drive a nine-year old Honda Civic that still gets fairly decent gas mileage (but can’t accelerate uphill to save its life). I guess I could just save it, but how boring is that? Life’s too short to spend it being bored.

I think every single person in this hobby spends too much money on figures. It just comes with the territory I guess.

Yeah, or pretty much any hobby, I suppose. Heck, if I could buy the Lego sets that I had as a kid, I’d be tempted to spend a ton of money on those. It’s amazing how much a bunch of interlocking plastic blocks costs.

    • The Endless General says:

I love Legos lol. I would totally buy those.

Me too, I got this Lego newsletter back when I was a kid and I remember there was this photo of a castle this one guy built. It must’ve been bigger than a cubic meter. Man I was jealous as hell; I always wanted to build the biggest Lego castle I could but I never had enough pieces. I also always wanted Black Monarch’s Castle but my parents never paid any attention to my begging and whining.

heh, funny thing I check the finished resin kit section of YJA every other day and saw this being listed, the first time it went for a bit over 50000yen and for some reason it was listed again, how much did it go for this time? the painter did an amazing job on it too. “lets win this” sounds like something masato would type lol and well, I bet anything that BRS went for somewhere between 100000-200000yen.

Haha, you saw that? It ended at 45k the first time around and I guess the winner welched on the deal, so the seller re-listed it, but started the auction at 45k. I won it at like 55k. The 1/6 scale BRS went for like 85 or 88k, I think, so not quite six figures, but close.

When’s your next review man? It’s been 11 days since this one! I hate to sound like a DB but I was just wondering.
