Ryofu is one of the first figures I ordered. My initial receipt dates back to March 2006, but as I recall she want through a succession of delays and I didn’t get her for some months afterwards. For a while she was perhaps my most anticipated figure. How did she turn out?

She is a Griffon product, and is ostensibly in 1/6 scale. A trivia note: out of the fifty or so figures I own, Ryofu is one of only two girls that is wearing pants. Granted, hers are rather badly tattered.

There is a big problem with this figure. One of the reasons I looked forward to her was her size; Griffon advertised her as 1/6 scale. It even says as much on the nameplate on the base. However, she ain’t 1/6 scale. My low-tech ruler and tape measure indicate that she is about 21 centimeters tall, putting her at about four feet and two inches tall if she lived in real life. I’ve not watched the Ikki Tousen anime adaptation but I’m guessing that she isn’t depicted as a midget. Perhaps someone at Griffon transposed a 6 and an 8 when they were writing up Ryofu’s specs. Or maybe they don’t know how to use a ruler. Who knows?

Up close, Ryofu doesn’t look all that awesome. Seam lines are visible, particularly running along her sides. Her hair is not particularly detailed, a flaw she has in common with a lot of early figures.

From a distance though, she looks better. I do like Ryofu’s style; the turtleneck crop top and leather trousers are very cool, and the busted zipper is pretty hot. Overall, while this isn’t a great figure, I wouldn’t go as far as to say I regret picking her up. I’d definitely like her more if she were in 1/6 scale though.

Griffon’s put out a couple variants of Ryofu, one with a silver top and another with a red shirt. They seem to also have removable parts so that Ryofu’s boobs can be exposed for careful inspection, but my Ryofu figure lamentably does not have that feature.

I really wanted this figure for quite some time since she looked pretty awesome in the promo shots and 1/6 is a sweet scale.
My Brother ordered her for himself at a nice price and Im really glad that i didnt order her due to the facts that you already mentioned.
I can accept visible mold lines and the likes since shes rather old (but even for her age they are pretty bad) but the scale thing is something that cant be forgiven imho

Yeah, I like larger figures, and I was really disappointed to learn that this figure is much closer to 1/8 scale. I’m willing to forgive technical problems if the figure is huge (Kotobukiya’s 1/6 Rachel from Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorite figures, even though it’s not really high quality). I got one of Griffon’s Kanu figures recently and it has the same problem; it’s advertised as 1/7 scale but it’s actually more like 1/8. Oddly, Griffon’s Sasara Kusugawa is advertised as 1/7 scale and really is, in fact, 1/7 scale. I’m thinking I’ll keep buying Griffon’s To Heart figures, but I’ll be more wary of their Ikkitousen lineup.
