With a surfeit of role-playing games in my backlog, I haven’t gotten around to picking up Ar Tonelico II. Reports of its shoddy localization aren’t compelling me to hasten through my queue, but while game-stopping bugs raise concern, I’m still very much a fan of the character art. I don’t know much about the game’s heroines, but nonetheless I had my eye on this figure for some time, and I waffled for a while as to whether I wanted to pick it up. A sale over on E2046 settled the matter and now here she is.

Built by Max Factory and sculpted in a wimpy but familiar 1/8 scale, Cloche looks superb in a pleated romper and astonishingly tall stiletto heels. I’m not sure what the deal is with her sundial hat and the stubby wings, but they look great too (although the wings aren’t nearly as cool as Caroline’s).

The poofy hair looks a bit odd from behind. Her bangs are well-defined, but the tresses on the back of her head are rather flat and end in a series of lumps that resemble amber cauliflower.

She’s called Chroche in Japan and Cloche in America. I think they should’ve set her name as Croche. That’s an outstanding name, not suggestive in the least.

I like her facial expression; her dismissive or disapproving scowl perfectly complements her frosty glare. Her evident displeasure adds a lot of personality to this figure, which is rather understated otherwise. Overall I’d say this is a great figure; a bit pricey at some of the stores I’ve seen but if you’re a fan of the game or ice queens or buxom blondes in cheerleader skirts, I think she’s worth the cash.

Thanks for the review , i didn’t see any real pics of her so i’m glad to see yours 🙂

She looks great but i’m not too fan of the hair but the rest is nice 🙂

Whenever I get the game I’ll have to see if her hair is actually supposed to look like that. The hair almost deterred me from picking her up, but E2046 had her for about $70 (including shipping), which was too good a deal for me to refuse. I’ve seen her going for a hundred dollars elsewhere, which is just crazy, especially for a 1/8 scale figure.

Personally, I like the girls from Ar Tonelico I more than II. But they never made any figures for them ;x

I never did get to play that game. I liked how the white-haired girl looked, though. Uhh, gee, what is her name … (checks Danbooru) … Shurelia it seems her name is. I wonder if I can get a copy of Ar Tonelico anywhere; I picked up the sequel the other week but I like playing through games in order if I can.
