Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing (Sexy Version) (NSFW)

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Any figure labeled the “Sexy Version” is going to get my attention, particularly when it’s of a destructive sword-wielding English girl prone to entering a berserker rage. It’s a mildly humorous label, though, since sexiness is surely in the eye of the beholder and there’s probably a not-insignificant fraction of the figure collecting community who would not consider a buxom blonde girl like Satella to be sexy. Believe it or not.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Satellizer is from Freezing, originally a manga series – manhwa, whatever – by Dall-Young Lim and Kwang-Hyun Kim. Its anime adaptation was, for a while, the worst anime series I’d ever seen in its entirety; it’s since been eclipsed by Guilty Crown in my loathing.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Freezing’s plot features Satellizer, the taciturn and ultraviolent girl who hates to be touched; Kazuya Aoi, a callow, fiat-powered teenager possessed of astonishing imbecility; and a bunch of mouthy high schoolers with deathwishes who serve mostly to get chopped up by either Satellizer or the evil alien Nova. On the surface, it’s the sort of show that I ought to like; all of the fighters are female, most of them busty and visually appealing. Their clothes inevitably get torn off their bodies during combat, and bloodshed and brutality are rampant. However, I cannot stand Kazuya, the lead male character. He’s clueless, breathtakingly ignorant, and bafflingly immature. There’s almost nothing about him that can be praised, and he’s down there with Emiya Shirou and every guy from Guilty Crown in terms of the most idiotic, odious, and abhorrent male characters I’ve ever seen in anime. In a show that features copious violence and outfits such as this, his presence is sufficient to sink the show. Remove him – and all the other male characters, who don’t contribute anything apart from casting Blessing of Freedom on the female combatants, anyway – and Freezing would be pretty good, I think.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Satellizer shares a number of traits with Saber, so much so that I initially assumed Freezing would be thematically similar to Fate/stay night. They are not, of course, though Satellizer and Saber share a few archetypical traits: both are fairly quiet, humorless, blonde-haired English girls handicapped by moronic partners. However, there’s a curious difference in how the series creators treat each character; although Saber technically comes from an eroge, Type-Moon seems uncomfortable with this fact, at least as far as figures go, and I don’t know of any PVC figures of the Fate/stay night characters that features nudity. Freezing is not an H series, as far as I know, but its writer has himself published a number of pornographic doujinshi featuring the Freezing characters.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Back to the figure: this figure is manufactured by FREEing and was released late last year. Shortly thereafter, they released a figure of Ingrid Bernstein, and they’ve indicated that the haughty competitor Ganessa Roland and the shameless homewrecker Rana Linchen will also be getting figures. Hopefully we’ll see some news on those soon.

All of these figures are sculpted in a mighty 1/4 scale – God’s scale – and feature removable clothing. Satellizer measures about 40 centimeters in length, and she’ll demand a significant chunk of shelf space for proper display. FREEing did release another figure of Satellizer – right around the same time as this one – that was 1/8 scale and depicted her in her red dress with her sword, though I don’t recall whether it had a special name or not.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Satellizer offers a number of display options. She can wear eyeglasses; as with FREEing’s Amane Shiratori figure, the arms of her spectacles slide into slots within her head that are exposed by removing her bangs, ensuring that they stay in place. They have clear plastic lenses, giving them a greater sense of realism.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

She wears a white dress shirt out of the box but it can be removed to leave her in her lingerie. Her arms detach to facilitate its removal; a pair of lacy black armbands is provided to cover up the join lines circumscribing her upper arms. Like many of FREEing’s 1/4 scale figures, Satellizer can also wear black fishnet stockings, which, unlike FREEing’s Amane figure, are packaged separately, possibly because Amane wears shoes while Satellizer is barefoot.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

A figure that stretches well over a foot in length ought to provide a number of opportunities for intricate detail but like many figures of this size, Satellizer’s sculpt is not particularly complex. She’s got helmet hair and her hairband isn’t convincing in the least.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Similarly, the paint application is rather flat, particularly on her hair.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

And her underwear.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

The seat of her panties looks better, though. Also, as indelicate as this probably sounds, it’s nice that Satellizer got some proper-fitting panties; I’m all for anime girls who wear revealing clothes, but it’s sort of strange to see that the plumber’s crack look is so fashionable amongst female anime characters these days.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

The stigmata marks are included on her back.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Satellizer’s bra can also be removed. This is as naked as she gets.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

Although she might be lacking in detail, I think the sculpt looks great, overall. She’s lean, lithe, wasp-waisted, with long legs and with a particularly impressive chest. Her breasts seem to have a sense of weight to them – though probably not enough to be termed realistic.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

I also like her facial expression; she has a neutral look which leaves the interpretation of her emotions and disposition up to the viewer.

Satellizer el Bridget from Freezing Figure Review

FREEing’s 1/4 scale version of Satellizer isn’t particularly elaborate or technically impressive, but I think it’s a great figure regardless. This is a figure that’s much more about the subject matter than the manufacturing prowess of the maker, and Satellizer does indeed look sexy. She’s appealing in all her modes of dress, and her body sculpt is very attractive. I’m quite happy with this figure and I wish I’d gotten Ingrid Bernstein as well, especially since she was discounted for a while. I’m looking forward to seeing what Ganessa and Rana are going to look like – though I’m less enthusiastic about the prospect of finding shelf space for all of them when they do come out, particularly since their unusual recumbent positions place large limitations on how they should be displayed.

Awesome! I am a slight bit surprise to hear your reaction on Freezing, although I agree with you on point that the male lead was utterly useless and downright annoying akin to Emiya Shiro in Fate route. However, the rest of the female cast, of which most of them are drawn to my liking, along with the combat actions was able to overcome the deficit for me. The girls are definitely pretty enough for me to keep watching the show, unlike guilty crown which I promptly dropped after mid season and Inori was nowhere good enough to carry the show. This Satellizer looks to be quite nice but I don’t think the facial expression is drawing me as much as say the goth maid sonico for example, which I promptly ordered.

    • Tier says:

It didn’t help that Satellizer was typically portrayed as being handicapped by her lack of a male partner. I did like the show a little bit better in its second half, when Rana came on board and the female-on-female component picked up a bit. I liked Cassie too; she was a cute, quiet girl who likes book, which is one sort of anime girl that I like. I also liked that she was American, and I particularly appreciated that she wasn’t another busty, loudmouthed blonde girl with a cowboy hat.

I don’t blame you for dropping Guilty Crown one bit, and if you managed to get to about episode 15-ish, you got to see some of the best (or worst) parts, anyway.

  2. azn0will says:

YAY! You did a shoot for Satella!! You know what the funny thing is, I’ve had mine for a couple of months now and still haven’t opened the package yet >.<
Where'd you get the bondage gear?

    • Tier says:

She’s been sitting in her box for a really long time; her box was actually falling part since I stacked a bunch of other boxes on top of it, since it’s so big and flat. I’m thinking it’s probably really dumb of me to keep specifying EMS shipping and then not taking my figures out of boxes for months (or years, for some of my figures now) at a time.

The bondage stuff comes from some stuff I got for my vmf50 dolls. I haven’t done a doll post in some time, I ought to take some more pictures of them.

      • azn0will says:

Haha. That’s whack, for years even, jeez!

Can we expect a doll post soon? >.<

        • Tier says:

I’ve had one MegaHouse figure in its box for over five years now. Admittedly, I didn’t actually want this figure; I got it off of eBay and the seller was selling two figures as a package deal, and I really wanted the other one.

Maybe! Well, maybe not soon, but I’ve been planning on taking some doll pictures, since I got some new clothes for them and also because I could really use the practice photographing larger subjects than I normally shoot.

  3. Rednights says:

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t read a single text of whatever you wrote. However, I did laugh at the tentacles. I knew that NSFW was there for a reason.

    • Afreet says:

I usually read all of them, but seldom post here. Actually the wall of text is what make this site different from the other figure reviews, I appreciate both the efforts.

      • Tier says:

Thanks XD I do try to keep my writing distinctive, as well as the pictures. Though I don’t blame anyone at all for skimming or skipping the text and just looking at the photos; there have been more than a few times where I’ve been really, really tempted to simply write, “A picture says a thousand words and I know y’all don’t read anyway so just look at the photos” as the entire review.

    • Tier says:

Ha! I must admit, I frequently do the same thing with other figure review sites. And I’ll further admit that when I look at the pictures, I’m partially looking at what the figure looks like and I’m partially looking to see whether the photographer knows what he or she is doing.

  4. Aaron says:

Nice review on this figure. I like the sculpt in terms of pose, and like the fact that she has some accessories. I really like the glasses pictures, much more than the nurses glasses.

I’d have to agree with the flat paintjob though. It just does not help to make her look more sexy. I wonder how they are referring to it as the sexy version, is it because of the pose or the fact she can be partially naked, because it doesn’t really seem “extra” sexy to me to warrant that it is the “sexy version.”

I like the bondage gear in pic 26 though and was surprised to see the tentacles show up. Good surprise.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I was very amused that they called it the “Sexy Version” rather than “Lingerie Version” or something, which is what any other manufacturer would’ve done. Also, I know a number of figure collectors who would dispute that this figure is “sexy.”

The paintjob isn’t too great here, though I’m willing to overlook it since I think the rest of the figure looks great. It’s sort of a shame that Alter doesn’t make anything in 1/4 scale, though, since so many 1/4 scale figures are rather deficient in terms of craftsmanship; I’ve got a 1/4 scale figure in the review queue that has cracked paint, which is rather appalling, particularly given the figure’s price tag.

      • Halbred says:

The only part of the paintjob that bothers me (now that I have her) is that nobody bothered to differentiate her nipples & areola from the rest of her skin. She basically has Barbie boobs with sculpted nipples, This oversight is so distracting that I actually keep her bra on generally.

The only other problem is that her shirt is excessively difficult to put on or get off. I’ve already accidentally separated the “attached” sleeve from the main shirt, but since it’s the same structure as the castoff arm, it’s not a big deal. But it’s such a pain that I just leave it off. So she’s perpetually in her lingerie–not a bad thing by any means.

        • Tier says:

Yeah, a little more prominent paint would’ve been nice in that region. Two of my most favorite figures have the same issue, all the more noticeable since they are also 1/4 scale.

Damaging clothing while trying to get it off or on is also really annoying; it’s one of the reasons I never reviewed Daiki Kougyou’s Kaori Saeki. I tore the sleeve right off her school uniform while getting all the plastic wrapping removed and since I’d be obligated to show a picture of her while dressed if I review her, I never bothered trying to fix it. Though given that her Bible Black castmate should be here in a week or two, maybe I ought to just put up a quick review of her this week.

  5. Nightmare says:

That’s odd, I don’t remember two tons of extra flesh being included in the original box. Fortunately for Satellizer and her viewers she’s finally been blessed with a proper hair color rather than the one FREEing gave her which could possible be one of the ghastliest things I’ve seen on a figure. Hair annoyance aside, she’s a great sculpt for that size and makes for some sweet desk decoration.

I too keep hoping for some news on Ganessa and Rana but FREEing keep releasing random stuff with bunny suits instead, I’m guessing Rana’s bandage cast-off is keeping them busy for a while longer. Wonder Festival in July willing and we’ll see prototypes of number three and four with release dates sooner rather than later.

    • Tier says:

It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t included; everybody should have a tentacle stand. Or two.

The bunnysuit stuff is sorta odd; I guess someone there really has a fetish for that sort of outfit, and I guess they must sell well for them. I thought about getting Ikaros but I’m going to pass on that figure; I’m not a big fan of bunnysuits to start with and I’ve probably already ordered too much stuff scheduled for July and August releases, anyway.

      • RainingKatz says:

FREEing keeps selling 1/4 scale bunny stuff to me, at least, so it’s partly my fault. I do cry a little every time I spend money on some ugly Kanu Unchou just because they stuck it in a bunny suit -but I cannot help it. Girls with things on their heads work for me. It’s all Lum’s fault with the horns, or something. Things ON their heads. Not this moe stuff where they have hairbands and bows and bows on top of that and angel wings in the hair and bunny ears all at the same time. When did charm points reach kitchen sink levels?

Anyway, the Satellizer figure is nice. Got it for pretty much the same reasons noted here, except I’ve never seen the manga or anime and know nothing about it. Purely a buy based on the look of the figure itself. Not in the least disappointed.

        • Tier says:

The first such anime I can think of that really threw every fetish at the wall that they could think of was Strike Witches, though I’m sure there are earlier examples. The bad thing about it – for me, at least – is that one disliked fetish can overwhelm multiple appealing fetishes. Sorta like how the scat scene in the euphoria OVA kinda put a damper on the rest of the show, which was really good (though that particular scene didn’t bother me nearly as much as it should have, which might be a sign that I’ve spent too much time looking at hentai stuff).

It is good that they have a steady customer, though! Though it’s still a bit strange how diverse and long-running their bunnygirl series is; one wouldn’t really think that Sora no Otoshimono, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Ikkitousen have much in common, but that’s what they picked.

You’re probably better off not knowing anything about the anime. It doesn’t break much new ground, anyway, apart from maybe the sleaziness of the outfits in the school pageant episode, which was probably its brightest point.

  6. THIS particular Saber is the only mass produced PVC that features nudity I can think of, and I don’t remember her being very popular. But yeah, the whole Sexy Fun Adventures: Now With More Mana Recharging! thing definitely gets downplayed with Saber.

I’ve never really been a fan of FREEing’s 1/4 lines. It’s such a huge scale and you can do so much with it, but their sculpts always end up being rather simple. Helmet hair and flat shading on something so big? C’mon guys! They also could’ve put a lot more toning/defining on her body. Not saying her current body sculpt’s bad, of course.

On a side note, is Guilty Crown really THAT bad? I was kind of intrigued by the Poor Man’s Code Geass knockoff plot premise, and I do have a soft spot for pink haired girls. I’ve yet to meet someone who likes Guilty Crown, though…

    • Tier says:

Gangsta lean Saber! I do actually have that figure … Christ, I need to review it already, I was very much looking forward to photographing it when I preordered it, which was … geez, I guess during the summer of 2009. I eventually used that idea for Saber Alter’s photoshoot instead. To my huge, huge disappointment, Daiki Kougyou screwed up three things with that figure – they glued her clothes down, so you have to do some forceful dismantling to get her outfit off, they gave her a bizarre, pallid skin tone, and they lengthened her neck. This is what I was really hoping to get.

Yeah, until they released Amane, I wasn’t interested in their 1/4 scale stuff, even though I’m a big fan of bigger figures. I’ve got two of their figures now, but I got them mainly because I like Amane’s and Satellizer’s character designs. Volks’s 1/4 scale stuff are amongst my favorite figures in my collection and it’s rather unfortunate that so few other makers do a good job making figures at that size.

Haha, man, Guilty Crown … I could go on and on about Guilty Crown. Actually, I do mean to do so; I’m going to write a review of the series. I’ve taken some notes and jotted out an outline, but I have to go back and watch certain episodes, or at least certain sequences to refresh my memory, and that’s not something I’m looking forward to. But to answer the question … oh yeah, it’s definitely really that bad. Which isn’t really the worst thing for it, because it’s so bad that it might be worth watching, as opposed to something that’s just consistently mediocre and is dreadful to try to watch. (As much as I didn’t like Freezing, I’d probably say it’s closer to mediocrity than being flat-out bad like Guilty Crown.)

      • I’ll probably still check out Guilty Crown. I do enjoy watching anime train wrecks every now and then. Especially big budget train wrecks, like the Black Rock Shooter OVA and TV series. Oh man did they botch those up something fierce (in my opinion, of course).

And you should review Gangsta Lean Saber. I wonder why DK felt the need to elongate Saber’s neck and give her a sickly flesh tone. And gluing the clothes on? Why?! It’s a shame that Daiki Kougyou gets these real nice looking sculpts but always seems to mess SOMETHING up. I remember they had this super sweet Ryoumou Shimei but when she came out her outfit was different shades of black, her legs were oddly yellowish under the stockings and the pegs on her base were fucked up and misaligned with her feet.

Lastly, everyone should take a lesson from Volks when it comes to 1/4 scale stuff. Volks large scale figures are beautiful and stupidly detailed, like their KOS-MOS and Bayonetta.

        • Tier says:

Guilty Crown does have the advantage of being so bad that it can be entertaining – wildly entertaining, even – just to see how bad it is. Freezing and a number of shows like it are so conventional that their mediocrity is hard to watch, but Guilty Crown is so wacky that at the least, it’s not that boring.

Yeah, I’m pretty disappointed with both of those things. The long neck moreso now, I guess, since I’m not too surprised that she’s technically not castoffable.

That is most unfortunate about Ryomou; sorta weird too, since they usually seem to do a decent job on larger-sized figures. In my limited experience with their products, anyway. Curious that the Tsuki-board entry lists Tokunaga Fumiyoshi as the sculptor; if I remember right, Mr. Surprise sculpted the original garage kit. It’d be doubly weird if they got a guy to re-sculpt a figure that already looked pretty good.

Indeed they should. I wonder if Volks will make pre-painted polystone versions of some of their recent 1/4 scale kits? I like their Saber Lily quite a bit and I’ve been hoping that that figure and their Mai Shiranui would get pre-painted versions. I do have a couple of Volks’s 1/4 scale statues in the review queue and both of them look absolutely amazing.

  7. armorknight says:

Unfortunately male leads like Kazuya seem to be the standard now. What the anime/manga scene needs is a male lead who is strong, dominant, knows how to control women, and can keep a harem in check.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, it’s really too bad. Personally, I’m hoping some brave production studio goes one step further and creates a female lead who is strong, dominant, know how to control women, and can keep her harem in check.

  8. Cantan says:

Emiya Shirou is not so bad (though I’ve only seen F/S N in Japanese with subs)… the worst I’ve encountered was the English language dub of Raki from Claymore… seriously, that is just horrible. I almost always watch anime in subtitles these days unless I know the dub is good (Black Lagoon & Ergo Proxy – though Vincent and Ziggy’s voicework is a bit touch and go).

That said, Japanese language versions do not save you from all abuses of the English language… the thought of the opening sequence of Burst Angel still sends shivers down my spine from the horrible theme song… seriously, Japanese singers should not be allowed to try to invent new English words just to suit their tunes…

She’s pretty cute. Whilst the scale sounds good, I don’t have any figures over 1/6 and would struggle to know how to display them if I did – just so much larger than everything else. I might make an exception if E2046 were to make a pre-painted version of one of your Volks wishlist items… if I could afford it… but they haven’t thus far.

I’m impressed that your doll kits seem to fit so well

    • Tier says:

LIES. If I ever play Fate/stay night, I am going to try to get him killed in the most brutal ways that I can. So that he will die when he is killed.

I almost always watch with subtitles as well, though there are a couple of shows that I was going to watch dubbed. One of them was Zone of the Enders; I didn’t really like the Japanese voice acting much.

Haha, yeah, I remember I saw the Burst Angel character designs a while back – back when Alter started making figures, I think – and became interested in the show. I watched the first episode and couldn’t stop laughing at the opening song. What was it called again, Getting Loosey or something like that?

  9. zzzzzy says:

You accidently linked to Rana Linchen twice Tier! ^^ Just searched on Ganessa and Ingrid, and they look nice! I think I preferred the one u missed to order.

The stockings looks quite good. I also like what you did on the bondage (pic 26) and the tentacle picture (30). Wanted to see one of those tentacle pics without the eye pad thing (sorry my english).

I’ve seen these Satellizer and Ingrid pictures before, but never realised that they were 1/4. They will probably take massive amounts of shelf space since they’re lying down, specially if one would collect all the Freeing Sexy versions xD.

Nice review! I like when you do a short review of the Animes in your posts. I “don’t have time” or am just to lazy to study more about my own figures, so it kind of gives a clue about what series to not watch ^^. It’s also quite enjoyable to read when the anime you watched turned out to be really bad. Watch more horrible animes Tier! (jk*) ^^

    • Tier says:

Oops, thanks for the heads-up. It is a good thing that both characters show up in the one picture linked to the two figures.

Yeah, I don’t really know how I am going to display them; heck, even if I had enough room I’m not sure how I would display them. They’re going to look sort of strange next to the rest of my collection since they are gargantuan and posed lying-down. Maybe what I’ll do is have Satellizer lying at the feet of gangsta lean Saber, that might look pretty cool.

Haha, thanks XD If I’m familiar with the source material that a figure comes from, I usually like to include a quick note of how I felt about it. I’m already organizing what I want to say about Inori Yuzuriha for when that figure comes out.

  10. TomTheCat says:

At last! All those times you mentioned that you’d have to review Satellizer, and now finally you got around to actually do it.

My desire to collect figures was initially triggered by the Lala Poplip figure: https://www.tentaclearmada.com/2009/03/lala-poplip-pipiruno-pipiru-paparemmo-from-comic-aun/ Searching for pictures of her and a place to get her from landed me on this page in the first place. And while I got Lala too in the meantime, Satellizer was actually the first figure I ever bought.

I first saw this figure on amazon.jp and immediately fell in love with her. Her looks and her pose were so incredibly cute and sexy, I just had to have her. The stockings displayed particularly good in the zoom-images. And even if there had been no cast-off option at all, I probably would have bought her.

Well, what’s the difference between cute, sexy and naughty? New-born animals are cute. Nothing beats puppies or kittens. Children can also be cute. And while a girl in her late teens can still be “cute”, this term already begins to describe a certain degree of sexiness. It’s just a combination of the looks of her face, her figure and the way she carries herself that may appeal to a beholder. If a girl doesn’t want to appear sexy although she is, all she can do about it is maybe wearing baggy clothes and/or a messy hairdo and treating everybody else like crap.

Of course, a girl can also boost her sexiness by wearing make-up, push-ups or any other way she deems appropriate.

Naughtiness on the other hand should (in my eyes at least) not be displayed in public. That’s behavior that should be reserved for people somebody is intimate with. I mean, a woman has her her entire body with her all the time. That’s of course not naughty. However, if she chooses to display certain parts of it, this can indeed constitute naughtiness.

Miyuu strongly tends to be naughty in my eyes, although technically she not necessarily is. She’s sitting on a bed with her legs apart, and her pussy happens to be visible. But is that a naughty pose? Compared to the upcoming Imari and Ai Saeki, she falls somewhat short.

So what’s that all about? To me, Satellizer is definitely sexy, with her pose, her cute face and the amount of skin she’s showing. OK, maybe she’s just getting comfortable on her sofa with just her panties on (As opposed to striking that particular pose for a certain observer), but I certainly perceive this as sexy.

Speaking of “sexy”, I also wondered what that “Sexy Vers.” meant. As far as I know, there was no “ordinary” or “non-sexy” version except the 1/8 figure in her battle guise, but I’m not aware of such far-fetched cross-references in the figure business. Oh well.

When I got my Satellizer, I also had a few issues. Her hair color is much too dark compared to her comic impersonation. It’s more like ochre instead of golden blonde. The paint on her skin felt, well, although it was my first figure ever, it felt sort of rough.
I also noticed the sloppily smoothed mould seam on her left buttock which you show in pictures # 19 & 20.

Although you didn’t address it, I have the impression that her boobies are not as perfectly round and smooth as they should be, but that they look rather like potatoes.

    http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/429774

Moreover, her bosom is not as properly sculpted as it could be. And in 1/4, I daresay it definitely should. Unfortunately, you don’t have a photo which shows what I mean. Her breasts look like, and probably are, cast in one piece.

    http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/429776

What I thought was ugly as hell were the marks on her shoulder blades. I assumed them to be a leftover of a badly disguised production process. Reading your review, I learned that Satellizer actually has these stigmata on her back. Goes to show how much I know about her character.

Regardless of all that, her overall pose and expression leave a distinctively sexy impression on me. I’m very fond of her, I like looking at her and I’m glad to have her.

By the way, could you please set me on the track of those doujinshi you mentioned which the author(s) of Freezing made using the Freezing characters? Is there any way to obtain them in Europe?

    • Tier says:

Lala was a really great figure, and is still one of my favorites. Big, too – I wish Orchid Seed made figures that large more often, a number of their figures are a bit undersized.

The odd – and often disturbing – thing about anime is how often those distinctions get blurred. Guilty Crown’s Inori Yuzuriha exudes innocence (sort of) and possesses a childlike demeanor, but dresses like a stripper. There are a ton – maybe too many – really young-looking girls who are either massively sexualized or appear to be sexual predators themselves. One thing I like a lot about Satellizer is that even though she’s supposed to be a high schooler, she at least looks like an adult so I don’t feel quite so odd ogling her boobs.

The doujinshi are published under the circle name Cross Make; doujinshi are kinda hard to get outside of Japan, but Mandarake seems to have several of the titles in stock. For ordering doujinshi, I’ve usually used proxies like Yokatta for small orders and I’ve used Ash’s doujinshi service for larger orders. This reminds me that I never did put in an order for C81 stuff and that I ought to look at Toranoana and see what’s still in stock. Of course, there is also always the Google route.

    Oh my god.
I NEED this figure. I need it so bad. She is gorgeous in every aspect, and you’re right, her breasts have WEIGHT (sort of) which is something you see very rarely in these sorts of figures. It’s why I’m interested in Orchid Seed’s upcoming Kurono Kurumu. I don’t have any 1/4th scale girls (closest is probably my beloved Brandy Carter: http://www.csmoorestudio.com/Moore_Liberty_Meadows_Brandy_Statue_p/csms1004.htm). The potential expense repels me, but she’s just…so…beautiful.
Gonna need it. No doubt. I don’t want to miss the first of Orchid Seed’s Seven Sins line, but Satellizer might push it back.

It is! I wish you the best of luck in acquiring it, since it seems to not be easy to obtain. I went around checking up prices on Ingrid a few days ago and she seems to be up over two hundred bucks (I’m feeling pretty dumb passing on her when she cost 7500 yen at Amiami and Hobby Search).

Liberty Meadows! I enjoyed reading that comic, at least back when I read comics in the newspaper. That’s a great looking figure of a great character. Frank Cho is a great artist, I really liked his cover art of Jungle Girl, for obvious reasons.

      • Halbred says:

Yeah, he’s one of my favorites. There are several Liberty Meadows collections now, and several years ago he produced a GREAT Shanna the She-Devils series for Marvel. Seriously, go track it down, it’s amazing. There have been rumors ever since of a MAX version (with lots of toplessness) but the poor guy’s been so jam-packed with work that he hasn’t had time to re-draw those pages. But I continue to hold out hope.
As for Bridget here, yeah, most import sites I’ve visited are either sold out or sell her as “discontinued” for well over $250. That’s not gonna work for me, BUT she is on Amazon for $240, which is more doable.

        • Tier says:

Yeah, I liked his work on Shanna – I got most of the issues back when I consistently collected comics, though I think I might be missing one or two of them – as well as his art on the first issues of Ms. Marvel. I vaguely remember that someone made a Shanna figure too … or at least, I think I do, but perhaps I’m confusing her with one of the other jungle girls.

I was between the decision to watch Freezing or Infinite Stratos, I watched IS and it was ok.
Hehe but it seems like Freezing will receive more big scale figures overall, the 1/10 IS stuff from Wave doesn’t really count for me, since these are just a bit too small.

Im somehow fed up with wimpy main characters in anime, the chubby dwarf in Accel World is such a crybaby he’s worse than Shu 🙁 I don’t know why there is such a popularity for these kind of main characters. Maybe they have to be more pathetic than the average male anime viewer XD

Cool that the figure offers a lot of display options, I didn’t know about the optional fishnet stockings. Ahaha the fetish clothes also seems to fit her, I could imagine her in other kinds of doll clothes as well. Yeah her boobs are nice.

Because 1/4 figures take a lot of shelf space, Im hesitate with getting figures of that scale. Maybe I would get one if I like the character and sculpting & pose are convincing enough.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, IS wasn’t really a great show, I thought, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, and I’d even say I enjoyed it. Freezing, though, is bad. Well, okay, the disc mini-OVAs are decent but the rest of it is bad.

Ahahaha, Accel World, I dropped that show 12 minutes into the first episode. It was so bad … it doesn’t help that the piggy is voiced by Shu’s voice actor. I also really do not understand why so many male characters in anime are chumps. Maybe I’m getting too old for anime or something.

1/4 scale is the best scale! Well, I think so, anyway, though it seems quite a few figure collectors don’t prefer big figures, so maybe I’m in the minority here.

      • Wieselhead says:

Nah, I think Accel World is anime for young teenagers, if I would still be twelve I could enjoy it. But after I’ve seen some eps of it Im fed up XD. Its so lame

        • Tier says:

Ha, I was thinking that if I were still in high school, I might enjoy the show, but I think you’re right – I’d probably have to be back in primary school to enjoy it.

  13. Jegan2020 says:

Well Freezing in Manga form is a lot better than The anime ver. If they have followed themanga’s story line more and less of the ero stuff it’s will be a good anime.
By the way the Sword Satella use is called ‘Nova Blood’.

    • Tier says:

That’s what I’ve heard and it seems to be the case for most manga series that get converted to anime. Though I think the best case scenario would be to keep the story line and keep the ero and ditch Kazuya. The mini-OVA specials are a good starting point for the last two things. I wonder if Kazuya (or a similarly useless male lead) shows up in the new Freezing manga, the one with Chiffon?

  14. motaku96 says:

I just got her recently myself. Her lingerie is black right? Did you do the red hue on purpose?

    • Tier says:

Nah, her underwear is purple which is what it is here as well, though it might look reddish here since the towel she’s laying on is red. Her stockings are black, though.

  15. Jedah Kalm says:

Hi, do you have a pic of this figure with the bra off and the shirt on? Thanks.
My first time posting a comment here, but I’ve been a huge fan of your photography and reviews for a number of years now. Great work.

    • Tier says:

Thanks for reading and commenting! I do not have such a picture, though if I can remember where I put her shirt, I’ll try to take one the next time I’m taking figure pictures (which should be this evening or tomorrow evening) and I’ll post it up here.

    • Tier says:

Well, I’m pretty much a liar, since I forgot to take pictures of Satellizer (and I’m not entirely certain where I put her shirt). I did find some pictures here, on a Japanese figure review site, that show her with her shirt on and bra off. If I can find her shirt I’ll try to take some myself.

  16. Tucker says:

The thing that bugs me most with this figure is probably the slightly blushing but otherwise neutral expression on her face. The look works better with the glasses since the blush is then accented more, but the neutral mouth still brings it down a bit.

I agree that the show itself also has its share of problems, (“What, being bullied? No, you’re just put in your place!”) but the girl deserves better than this.
Apparently the manga seems better than the anime, at least based on the pictures you linked from the Rana figure.
