Leina from Queen’s Blade (NSFW)

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

Some might say that going into a fight in nothing but your panties isn’t very smart. Well, when your first fight is against a lady with acid for milk, it’s the only thing to do. I mean, anybody who’s seen Aliens knows what happens when you get splashed with acid while encased in body armor; you wind up getting your arm burned off after it goes right through the plating. Nah, when you’re fighting jelly demons and fire mages, less is definitely more when it comes to protective gear.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

Leina – or Reina, depending on how you prefer to translate her name – was introduced in the first pair of Queen’s Blade game books; if I remember right, her book was released alongside Risty’s, although I’m not positive about that. Her character design was done by Hirokazu Hisayuki, who aside from his Queen’s Blade work is probably best known for doing the character designs for the My HiME and My Otome anime series. This particular figure was originally released as a model kit and Daiki Kougyou subsequently picked it up for PVC release. Leina is sculpted in 1/6 scale and stands a respectable 24.5 centimeters tall.

I’m sure that I’d like the Queen’s Blade anime but to be honest, I haven’t followed it all that closely; I pretty much only watched the scenes that Irma appeared in. Despite my cursory familiarity with the franchise, I’ve noticed that Leina doesn’t seem to be a very popular character among the fanbase, and I suppose it’s not too hard to understand why. In the television show, she’s a young noble who longs to escape the dreary, confining existence of castle life in order to develop her strength by beating things up. She’s a kind, friendly girl, somewhat diffident, a bit low-key, and as such has a difficult time standing out amongst the show’s cast. I mean, the franchise includes a very young-looking girl who rules an empire with a terrifying spiked strap-on, a sadistic, gelatinous woman who blasts acidic milk from her nipples, Leina’s sister who is disturbingly obsessed with her older sibling, and a young peasant girl who powers up her magical talents by performing fellatio on her tentacled staff – and swallowing furiously. Compared to all that, Leina comes off as rather bland. Furthermore, she has a penchant for prevailing in situations in which she seems highly unlikely to win or even survive, and that can get a bit annoying, considering her rookie status.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

All that said, though, I kinda like Leina. Yeah, she leads sort of a charmed life and I don’t think she makes for an interesting main character, but she’s cute. It’s also kinda sexy that she wears her mother’s armor, though I wonder if that’s her mother’s thong that she wears as well. And at the moment, most of my ire regarding the Queen’s Blade franchise is directed at MegaHouse and Griffon for having never produced a figure of Irma. I can scarcely believe that this miscarriage of justice has persisted for so long. Irma was one of the earliest girls, she has an interesting backstory, she’s Echidna’s apprentice and plaything, she absolutely deserves a figure. So what’s the deal? How is it that the fatty blacksmith gets multiple figures but Irma gets squat? Is it her skin color? This is a travesty of discrimination, I tell you. Screw MegaHouse and Griffon for not making her figure, I hate them I hate them I hate them I hope they get the SARS, I hope they get bought out by Giga Pulse and I hope that a swarm of Mothra larvae boils into their homes and rapes their children and eats all of their corn chips.

Hmm, what was I talking about? Oh yes, it’d be nice if we got an Irma figure, we’ve been waiting quite a while for one.

Daiki Kougyou Reina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

Like virtually every Queen’s Blade figure ever made, Leina features interchangeable parts, though as she’s dang near naked already, she’s technically not castoffable. She has a full extra torso which shows off her breasts; her head and left arm pop right off so that you can swap her chests in and out.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

Speaking of her clothes, Leina’s wearing an eminently practical combat outfit consisting of some panties and not much else. I like the design of her armor; it’s angular and faceted, more reminiscent of a modern-age stealth UAV rather than a medieval knight’s greaves and vambraces. The straps are also a nice touch, giving her a disheveled look and raising the question of what just happened to her.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

I can’t say that I love her face, though; her eyes are peculiarly wideset, even by anime standards, and the furrow of her brow, while conveying emotion, looks unusual just because you hardly ever see an anime character with such.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

I’ve got no complaints about this view, though. Leina is banging back here and knows how to flaunt what she gots. One of the best things about Queen’s Blade is how a large part of the cast charges into combat in thongs, and as the main character, it’s only appropriate that Leina lives up to that standard.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

Generally speaking, the sculpt quality is pretty good, aside from her eyes. Well, I guess her breasts look a bit strange when she’s covering them up, since they’re all squished and it looks kinda like her nipples ought to be poking out. Some might regard that as a plus. Oh, and if anybody is curious, no, her boobs aren’t squishy. Anyway, as far as crafting a half-naked warrior girl, the sculptor did a fine job. Her paint scheme is pretty simplistic, and it looks good as well, with her armor sporting a very attractive chrome sheen. There’s an odd purple fringe to the top of her backplate, though, which looks a little out of place.

Daiki Kougyou Leina from Queen's Blade Figure Review

I wish that Leina’s face had turned out a bit better, but overall, I think this is a pretty good figure. I’ll usually score a warrior girl in a bikini highly, and Leina’s fantastic backside, broken armor and uncomfortable facial expression add some spicy flavor to an already steamy figure. I don’t know that she’s worth her full price – well, yeah I do, she is not – but given how many decent figures have hit the bargain bin in recent weeks, I’m sure she’ll get discounted soon, and at enough of a discount, she’s not a bad buy for Queen’s Blade or chainmail bikini fans.

Leina has sort of a superficial resemblance to my first Warcraft character. Kinda, anyway. I miss that armor, Wrath of the Lich King really sucked for good-looking gear.

After a titanic series of pitched battles against the other contenders for the throne, Leina has finally reached the last contest … but who is this?

I’m with you about the Irma figure – she really did get passed over too many times. And it’s not like she’d be a hard figure to do, either – her armor and weapons are extremely simple. She’d be a shoe-in for an event/magazine exclusive at a lower price point, too.

Nyx got a nice Megahouse figure, but I also wish she had received some love from the other makers – there are a ton of great figures that could be done of her. Still baffled myself why Cattleya gets so much attention, but I think that’s because she just isn’t my type.

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I don’t get it, I mean, she’s a more or less established character now, with relationships to several other major Queen’s Blade characters. I guess she’s not hugely prominent in the first season of the anime, but she does show up quite a bit in the second. And yeah, I’d really like another figure of Nyx, she’s my second favorite QB character (for obvious reasons). Though I’m not hugely enthused by her treatment in the anime … I mean, she gets kicked around by her staff already, she doesn’t really need to get kicked around by the show’s writers, too.

I don’t really understand the love for Cattleya either … well, I sorta can, everyone who likes anime has their fetishes, I guess. I know probably some people (okay, a lot of people) find mine to be either curious or incomprehensibly bizarre, so I’m gonna try not to hate on what other people like. Unless we’re talking about nendoroids. In that case, I will let the hate flow freely.

  2. Aka says:

Is that a razor cock I see on Obama? hawt.

Leina’s actually kinda cute covering her breasts like that. That’s about all I have to say about her though. I don’t know enough about QB to make more comments…

  3. The Endless General says:

Despite owning the first two Queen’s Blade dvds; I have a really scattershot understanding of the plot (or lack thereof). To me Leina falls into that really annoying category of protagonists who time and again come out on top in situations where they should surely have their ass handed to them. In spite of that, however, there’s something about her that just makes her likeable.

Not making a figure of Irma should be considered a crime against humanity………..

    • Tier says:

A lot of people seemed to have that same beef with her on a couple of anime forums that I read, back when the TV show was ongoing. Also, a lot of people didn’t like how it seems she was destined to win from the start (uhh, I’m not gonna say she definitely wins since I don’t want to spoil anything here, but it’s pretty obvious that Leina starts the show as the favorite). But despite all that, I kinda like scrappy, plucky characters, much more so than I like overconfident, arrogant characters (particularly when those latter traits get combined into a tsundere personality).

      • The Endless General says:

God I hate the tsundere archetype……….

I’d have to agree with you on the whole plucky underdog character thing. It just seems that no matter how annoying they may initially come across; you always end up rooting for them. Especially when they can hold their own when it’s time to throw down lol. I actually find some overconfident characters hilarious; particularly those with glasses who only take them off to clean them whilst saying something pompous lol. I think that might just be a personal thing though lol.

On the topic of the figure itself: I think Daiki did a good job of portraying Leina; they caught her personality well. I’m still debating whether or not to get her, although I most likely will if she visits the bargain bin in the future.

This next bit may seem off the immediate topic, but I can’t remember which post it was in. In a recent response you said something about GSC’s new Saber winding up in the bargain bin, and how it would be hilarious. It’d definitely be ironic, considering how long I debated before slapping down that preorder, but I don’t think i’d laugh…………..maybe a little.

        Ok I’d laugh lol.

        • Tier says:

Yeah, I hate it too. Unfortunately several characters whose designs I like fall into that category. Fortunately there seems to be a lot of crossover between tsundere and flatchested, twintailed loli girls and as I don’t necessarily dig the latter, it means I can ignore both of those things at once.

I liked characters like Yomiko from the Read or Die OVA, Koyuki from Beck, Iria from Zeiram: The Animation (anybody remember that? Yeah, I didn’t think so.) I think when I was thinking of arrogant characters, I was mainly thinking of Saya from the recent High School of the Dead anime (I haven’t read the manga and dunno if she’s any different there, though I doubt it). I watched one episode of that anime and couldn’t stand it, which still confounds me. I mean, an anime with schoolgirls in ripped clothes, big breasts, guns, zombies, big breasts, thongs, and big breasts, and I don’t like it … that’s the sort of thing that would make me question how well I know myself if the production team’s ineptitude weren’t so apparent.

I think I mentioned that in the Vivio post just earlier today. I see that Amiami says they have “plenty” of stock of Saber, so I’m guessing that she won’t be selling out anytime soon. I kinda wonder if we’re hitting some sort of inflection point; I’ve noticed that a ton of figure review blogs seem to be slowing down or shutting down, both English-language and Japanese. I wonder if people are getting tired of figures, or if they’re just running out of space or money.

          • The Endless General says:

If I had to guess, I’d go with money. Either that or space, although they aren’t entirely unrelated issues lol. It’s probably a combination of the two. It’s funny how you described blogs slowing down and subsequently shutting down: I was watching an episode of The Universe on Netflix the other day that explained the end of the universe in a similar style to that. Everything eventually runs out of steam and fades into oblivion………….strange coincidence, or disturbing premonition? Lol.

          • The Endless General says:

It figures that the red ring of death would rear its ugly head after I started using my Netflix again…………..

  4. Ashlotte says:

God do I hate Leina…Almost stopped watching both seasons just because of her…

And how sad is it that I can identify almost everything your old paladin is wearing Tier haha…Ah geez I miss my little plate bikini wearing Nelf warrior…

    • Tier says:

OMG the hate. Not that I’m gonna say that hate is a bad thing. I try not to hate too much but personally, I don’t think there’s enough hate out there in the anime community.

That is not sad at all. What is sad is there ain’t enough of it out there. The main reason I didn’t bother playing Wrath of the Lich King was the lack of bikini plate in Northrend, which I found to be hugely, hugely disappointing. (The other, lesser reason was that I got a job and no longer had time to consistently raid, grind honor, do arena every week, and level up alts. That was a much smaller factor in my decision to quit, however.)

      • Ashlotte says:

Haha really all the places I go its nothing but hate…

Meh I just think she ruins the show with the whole main character plot armor crap…Someone mentioned she’s like the female version of every loser male lead you ever hated and it really does feel true. She doesn’t so much do things as just sorta floats down the river of life reacting instead…bleh.

I can’t believe you didn’t watch HSoTD though!!!

Screw Saya just watch it for Saeko like I do! >_<

        • Tier says:

Yeah, I can see that, that’d get pretty irritating. Fortunately she never battled Irma and she still has tits and a thong so I can have a positive opinion of her until I watch the DVDs.

Yep, I didn’t watch High School of the Dead! And I dunno if I will, I’ve got so much other stuff to watch and I heard that the show wasn’t all that great. It lost me right at the end of the first episode when Rei went from spiteful bitch to clingy crybaby in ten seconds. God I hate that crap. I can’t deny that Saeko’s thong does look fine, though.

  5. Cantan says:

Ah you got Leina. I must admit that I was watching her for a long time (it felt like a long time anyway!) and finally plumped for the black armoured limited edition (white hair) – I have to pick her up from the post office tomorrow (or Monday if I feel lazy!)

Hmm presumably you took that Appendage off Aldra – have never really wanted that figure since I discovered that that was attached with no prospect to remove it.

Got to say that it was the worried expression that Leina carries that convinced me to get her… very cute imo.

    • Tier says:

Hoorays! I like that black version, I think I would’ve gotten it but I had preordered this version before it was announced. The black armor looks pretty slick.

Yeah, I borrowed it right off of Aldra. It detaches from her crotch, though there’s a peg there for it to mount to so you can’t really leave it off of her without it looking weird. Hmm, I never did review Aldra, did I? I hope I still have all her parts; I remember getting her clothes off was a real hassle, particularly since she’s got spiky parts all over.

She is cute indeed, though I kinda wonder why she’s so worried … I mean, she’s not that much more naked than she usually is, is she? I remember when I first saw the figure I thought she looked pretty cool, and it took me a while to realize she lost her breastplate somewhere.

      • Cantan says:

Ok just got my version today (it was absolutely pissing it down on Saturday so I was not brave enough to venture out). Overall a very nice figure but as ever the sword is too plain and insubstantial for my liking. Think I do slightly prefer the white version though she does have a bent ring in her hair – so much for metal!

I do much prefer the modesty pose myself – not even tempted to try the alternative really.

One thing I must say though… she has a REALLY BIG HEAD!

(incidentally the original version of Aldra is 70% off at HLJ atm, the variant is only 30% off)

        • Tier says:

I might go with the tits-out pose just because it takes up a little less space than it does with her sword extended out. That’s how hard up I am for shelf space these days. It’s been raining pretty heavily around the DC area too; I found out that my car can barely accelerate uphill on a wet road from a dead stop, which is sorta disconcerting.

Yeah, Aldra is wacky cheap these days … I probably should’ve held off on buying her (though I did get her on sale, at like 40% off or so). I’m kinda hoping that Luna Luna gets a similar discount, because I’m not sure I want to get her at full price.

  6. Cantan says:

Just read your post in more detail… seriously, you are upset that Griffon have NEVER made a figure of Irma?

Have to say that I am decidedly not a fan of Griffon’s and I’d be grateful if they never made a figure of any of the characters I like – everything they make seems to descend into a non-descript loli “cuteness” devoid of any distinguishing features and generally very bland and unoriginal. Think your best bet would be Megahouse etc.

Back to the figure at hand though… thought I read that this was a Cobra-kai garage kit originally (could be wrong)… Might not be too long ’til a certain someone starts kicking themself for pawning the family silver on a certain Fate Testarossa kit, which quickly goes into mass production 🙂

    • Tier says:

I am! I’d much, much prefer MegaHouse or Daiki Kougyou did it but beggars cannot be choosers and I am absolutely, positively begging for an Irma figure. I guess they do a pretty good figure once in a blue moon (I like their swimsuit Sasara figure, and I think their gothic punk Haruhi figure was well-regarded) but it’s no surprise that the two least favorite figures in my collection are made by Griffon.

Hmm, lessee, the original sculptor is Shunji Hagii, he’s not affiliated with Cobra Kai though I don’t know if he’s part of a sculpting circle or not. Looking at his work, I’ve got five other figures (Witchblade, miko Kanu, Ryomou, Kureha, and Yoko) that he’s done. I wouldn’t have even suspected that they were all done by the same person. He’s also done a Spider-Man figure, and one based off of Luis Royo’s artwork. He’s quite a versatile sculptor, it seems.

I still check Cobra Kai’s forum every now and then, and there seems to still be no update on that Fate figure, though it would not surprise me at all if they pick it up for production eventually. Heck, who knows, I might even be tempted to double-dip, I’ve done it before. And uhh, speaking of dropping the skrills, I recently bought this one big-ass doll, and her price tag was even greater. I wonder where she is now.

      • Cantan says:

My mistake – have been reading up on a lot of figures recently – I most likely confused this with the preorder Ryomo from Daiki – that one is definitely Cobra-Kai per Amiami’s description. Think I’ll be passing on that one – just don’t like the head from the shots I’ve seen

        • Tier says:

Ah, yeah, I wonder if that one’s come out yet? I thought it was due out in September, anyway. Yeah, I don’t dig it a whole lot, Ryomou’s not my favorite Ikki Tousen girl and she looks a bit too skinny there. Can’t deny that 1/4 scale is a brave choice, though.

  7. Halbred says:

    I APPROVE THIS FIGURE.

  8. Fabienne says:

she’s damn hot and she resembles Leina very well with the wide face
I like her face, the grey blueish eyes are a very nice detail.
I think I prefer the holding breast pose it emits a bit more dynamic.
the base looks a bit simple when you consider the price of her, are you ok with the base?
can you put off the plate on her back and the shield; too?
In the show I didn’t liked Leina a lot, my fav characters are still Nanael, Melona, Echidna and Airi.

your light setting suits her very well, it looks so nice with the stone like sheet

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with the base, I think it has a nice, understated look to it. And it’s not too much bigger than it needs to be, which is a big plus for me, since I am really running out of room.

I did not try to remove her backplate or shield, but I don’t think you can; her shield is attached by some straps and her backplate seems to be glued to her body. I could be wrong though (and I’ve definitely been wrong in the past; I didn’t think you could take the spider off of the Spider Girl but you actually can).

I think my favorite characters are Irma, Nyx, Echidna, and Allean. I definitely enjoyed the most recent OVA, too.

The stone-looking backdrop is actually the same backdrop I used for Yoko months and months ago. I had planned to throw it away since it takes up a lot of space, but I’m glad I didn’t because it came in handy here. I just put some white paint on it and bam, instant new background.

  9. here-and-faraway says:

Well, I guess her breasts look a bit strange when she’s covering them up, since they’re all squished and it looks kinda like her nipples ought to be poking out.

Maybe it’s because I’m a girl, but that pose really bothers me. It looks very unnatural and uncomfortable. Nudity’s fine, but squishing your girls together like that…. owww!

As always, great pictures and review.

  10. BioToxic says:

As many others I too dislike Reina so this figure didn’t interest me when it was announced. Although I must say her appearance in the first Queen’s Blade OVA was awesome the way she came to save Elina. I also really like her “Maria” design in Rebellion – well I am assuming she’s Reina.

Aldra reveals herself to be Obama, that would have been an awesome ending to the anime. XD

You should give the OVAs a go. Two are out so far and another four to go. The OVAs have totally changed my opinion on Elina and Nyx. They’ve been much better than I was expecting.

    Irma figure fucking where!

    • Tier says:

I agree, Obama makes for a fantastic queen of the realm. Particularly while naked. I was gonna buy him some swanky clothes but you know, his nudity works pretty well for what I do with my figures.

I watched the most recent OVA, with Allean and Nowa and Nyx, and enjoyed it very much for obvious reasons. I haven’t seen the first one, but I’ll give it a watch then. Uhh, dang, I just looked up the DVD release dates, they’re taking their time getting the discs out, aren’t they?

It’s heartening to see that there are a lot of people wondering what the hell is up with Irma. I wonder if she’s gonna make an appearance in Rebellion? If she does, I hope they don’t mess her up or anything <.<

  11. Steve Chen says:

Tier….you are one sick puppy! How dare you stereotype the Prez for having a long dong sil………..never mind hehehe

I do agree, it is a travesty that MH never crafted Irma,Melpha and Claudette. (Nope, the atrocity that was Griffon does not count) Btw, those 3 are the last gals I need from the first series. (I do hope they make an Aldura version 2 and 3.(the 2 being the nun and the 3rd, the barely dressed housewife cum summoner)

    • Tier says:

I guess if they do make the apron-wearing Aldra, I can call her my wife? Hmm, I didn’t know she was a nun, though. I’m guessing there’s a reasonable chance someone’ll make a figure of her current version since she seems reasonably popular and it looks like MegaHouse has moved on to making Rebellion figures.

I actually meant to use the big golden 1/8 scale dildo I got with Giga Pulse’s Aaliyah, but I can’t figure out where I put it. I know it’s somewhere around my desk but I guess it might’ve rolled off behind it or something. I’m glad I had Aldra’s spiky cock here to pinch-hit.

  12. Steve Chen says:

    Spoilers:

In Rebellion, a couple of the leads got curse. Yours truely is now overdressed, the samurai babe gets blind and the she-ra red head gets………..(still waiting for the book that comes from the androgynous demon buster duo.)

    And d@mn Mediablasters,the 2nd volume is like delayed over 6 months already.grrrr!

    • Tier says:

Yeah, and she has some kind of narcolepsy problem or something, I think? Yeah, and I heard Risty suffered some mysterious curse too. I wonder what Irma and Echidna are up to. Maybe they’re busy making love to each other, that’d be pretty cool. If Irma does show up, I’m kinda expect them to screw her over or turn her into a dork or something <.<

  13. Cantan says:

I’m wondering whether or not there is a pattern in the items that are ending up in the bargain bins at the moment (particularly at Amiami). I expected a figure like this to be very popular, yet it is sitting in there with a reasonable discount. Even the black armour version was in there for a while, though it didn’t last long.

Admittedly there are a lot of the shoddily made ones in there, but the only trend (rather than a pattern) I can identify for some of it is… if Tier reviews it it has a much higher chance of ending up in the bargain bin!

Seriously, there must be some sort of correlation. From your recent reviews Leina, Vivio, Compact Hog, Kurisa Makise and Kureha are all in there. Admittedly you may have bought some from the bargain bin, but its really uncanny!

    • Tier says:

Yeah, I haven’t seen a definite, discernible pattern. I would have predicted that the less-popular figures from the larger manufacturers would hit the bin, so it doesn’t surprise me too much that figures like Kotobukiya’s Kurisu Makise, the test plugsuit Asuka, and some of Alter’s figures of lesser-known characters (like the Saki and To Heart 2 figures they’ve recently done) are discounted. I was shocked to see VN02 Miku hit the bargain bin though, and I guess that may have set a precedent that even highly-anticipated figures of extremely popular figures aren’t immune to a quick price cut.

I’ve noticed that trend myself XD I think the majority of figures on the recent reviews list are in the bargain bin; Sasami is there too, and even Black Rock Shooter got a price cut on Amazon JP. I’ve actually paid full price for all of them other than Kasumi Yashiro, but that’s an old figure that I got from a US store. A big part of the correlation is probably that I just buy a lot of figures, but man, I sure do look like a dummy for shelling out full dollar for them.

      • Cantan says:

Maybe you could give us a full list of your preorders so we can see if there are that we’ll want when they hit the bargain bins… Have reason to believe that your preorder outlooks are generally just the tip of the iceberg.

In other news, my Ryofu arrived and she got through customs unnoticed despite have Â¥10,200 plastered on the box – saved me about $30 that did… though if anyone from customs reads this I will of course be making full payment immediately… (they can also contact me at kissmyarse@suckers.com).

She’s quite cute, but she definitely has a best side – from the back. The finish on her jacket isn’t that great and her face, when viewed full on, is a bit too round for my liking. But I’m just celebrating my (temporary – see above) respite from import taxes!

        • Tier says:

I keep my preorder list updated on my Tsuki-board profile, which unfortunately seems to not be accessible right now.

Congrats on your successful evasion of The Man! I’d go nuts if I had to worry about paying import fees for all the stuff I buy. Kinda like I’m going nuts wondering whether I want to fork over another $80 to get my vmf50 doll shipped via Fedex rather than wait for my proxy to get approved for a postal contract.

I’m still wondering why nobody’s done a really good Ryofu yet. I’m not sure if there was ever a really good Hakufu either (though I probably wouldn’t have noticed if there is one, since Hakufu’s not one of my favorite Ikkitousen characters). I kinda wish Alter had gone ahead and made a Ryofu to go with the four Ikkitousen figures they did, since I’m sure they would’ve done a great job.

  14. Cantan says:

Ah well, I’m thinking it’s probably to do with Christmas just being around the corner – less time for them to be an arse on every parcel received. With purchase taxes due to rise in January, I’m actually thinking that it would make sense to order now rather than later… mind you, I do need to buy some presents for friends and family.

Don’t get me wrong I’m pretty happy with Ryofu actually – my biggest gripe is her weapon which is just a dull monotone of uninspiring plastic with a rather featureless ribbon thing on it. Mind you that is pretty standard unfortunately – Leina’s sword isn’t exactly inspiring! Apart from that I’d definitely say that she has her charms. The paint job could be more precise but it does have it’s merits with some decent shading whilst the sculpt is pretty good generally…

Now on to the matter on hand… Gotou Matabei. Pray enlighten us – is this another JP only from Tokyo Hunter?

I had to go look up the recently-released Ryofu figures because I didn’t remember any recent Ryofu figures with weapons. I’m assuming you’re talking about the Uart one, which looks pretty nice, actually. I remember they did a Ryomou that I liked as well, but I got Alter’s one which looked very similar.

Yep, Matabei is a Hobby Japan exclusive, from what I’ve read. That sure does suck. At least she looks pretty good though for some reason, her legs look a bit stumpy to me.
