Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion

The world really does not need more Rei Ayanami figures. There’s about a billion of them out there, in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In fact, this is the second Rei figure that Alter has put out. I already own the first. I didn’t really need this one, but when I bought Haruka from OtakuFuel, the difference in price between Haruka and free shipping was not much smaller than the cost of Rei. So I decided that I, in fact, did need Rei. I am so weak.

Rei comes curled up in 1/8 scale. Alter offers a nice glossy black base for her to relax upon, but it is of course not necessary for display. Paint and sculpting are as good as expected. She comes with detachable bangs, so that one can display her with the cat ear contraptions she sports while working. Her pose makes it a bit difficult to display her, but then again, her vulnerability and tranquility are what distinguish this figure from the billion other Rei figures out there.
